Contrary to popular belief, red wine doesn't start out red! While the grapes are fermenting in tanks, the grape skins, stems, and seeds are added to the mix, which gives the wine a dark ruby red color as well as imparting tannins and various other flavors.

The most common types of red wine are Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, and Malbec, but at WineMadeEasy.com we have a huge red wine list featuring an impressive selection, and our list is always growing. Our staff rates and reviews new wines every day to help you discover new gems. It is a difficult question: what is the best red wine? With our great prices, you can try a variety of new red wines and decide for yourself.

Dark plums, blackberries, blackcurrants, tar, graphite and cloves on the nose. Some praline and chocolate. It’s medium-bodied with rounded tannins. Creamy and dark-fruited. Drink or hold.
    RP8989 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Nov 2022
The varietal 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon has textbook aromas and flavors of blackberries, herbs and spices combined in a neat way. It’s medium-bodied, balanced and fresh, with a serious, dry finish. (Luis Gutiérrez)

  3. Château Teyssier Saint-Émilion Grand Cru

    2015 / 750 ml. | Item#51156

    VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2018
The 2015 Teyssier is a fabulous introduction to Jonathan Maltus’s wines. Super-ripe black cherry, plum, mocha, new leather and dark spice, along with the wine’s natural lushness, give the Teyssier much of its immediacy and allure. Flamboyant an inviting, with impeccable balance, the 2015 has so much to offer, including a very appealing proposition of price and availability. The blend is 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc.
    RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 27th Apr 2018
Medium to deep ruby-purple colored, the 2015 Teyssier (a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc) gives up lovely black and red cherries notions with cinnamon stick, fragrant earth and potpourri nuances. Medium-bodied and fresh with a satiny texture, it’s earthy and elegant in the mouth with a perfumed finish. (Lisa Perrotti-Brown)

  4. Ciacci Piccolomini d’Aragona Brunello di Montalcino

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#54009

    RP95+95+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Nov 2020
The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino (with 56,000 bottles made) shows bold cherry, spice, crushed stone and balsam herb that come together in seamless fashion. This estate has honed a unique style that becomes a common theme traced to each new vintage. I’d describe it as delicate but also succulent with a rich and almost pulpy quality of fruit. The wine is fueled by the golden light that hits this part of Tuscany in those last hours of the day. Here is a wine that shows spirit of place.
    JS9595 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Wednesday, November 11, 2020
Lots of red and blue fruit to this, evolving into wet leaves, freshly turned soil and brewed tea. Light herbal notes. Sweet cherries, too. It’s full bodied with silky, firm tannins. More minerality and tea notes on the finish. Elegant and driven. Drink after 2023.
    VN9393 pts. - Vinous - Nov 2020
The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino from Ciacci Piccolomini d’Aragona places savory herbs, exotic spice and earth tones above ripeness of fruit. It’s decidedly dark and brooding on the nose, lifted by hints of fresh-picked mint and sage. There are depths of velvety textures in the mouth, offset by a tactile mix of tart wild berries, minerals and zesty acidity which adds vibrancy in spite of the tannic heft and primary intensity found here. The 2016 finishes with a monolithic feel, still wound up tightly in its youthful state but also promising many years of positive evolution in our cellars. This is gorgeous and a great value for age-worthy Brunello.
    SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - Jun 30, 2021
Light on its feet, this red evokes strawberry, cherry, earth, menthol and Tuscan scrub flavors. Shows a firm underlying structure, with a fresh and focused finish. Best from 2023 through 2042. 3,333 cases made, 1,000 cases imported.

  5. Clos du Mont-Olivet Châteauneuf-du-Pape

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#52202

    JD91+91–93 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - August 16, 2019
Moving to the reds and starting with the 2018 Châteauneuf Du Pape (a blend of 75% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 9% Mourvèdre, and the balance Cinsault, Terret Noir, Muscardin, and other permitted varieties), this wine has a terrific sense of purity and elegance in its black and blue fruits, sappy flowers, and peppery garrigue aromas and flavors. These carry to a medium-bodied, finesse-oriented wine that has beautiful tannins, no hard edges, and outstanding length. This is a classic, traditional cuvée done brilliantly. While it has the upfront style of the vintage front and center, it’s still going to evolve beautifully on its balance and purity. (Jeb Dunnuck)
    RP9191 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 24th Sep 2020
Decadently ripe, the 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape combines hints of garrigue, raspberries, black cherries and dark chocolate on the nose. In the mouth, it’s full-bodied, plush and creamy textured without coming across as heavy, finishing supple and long. While some may find it over the top, for me, it retains a sense of balance in the tension between the sense of ripeness and its delicate herbal nuances. It won’t be terribly long-lived but should drink at its delicious best over the next 6–8 years.
    VN90+90–93 pts. - Vinous - Dec 2019
Limpid ruby-red. Spice-accented red berry and cherry aromas are complemented by building floral and mineral nuances. Alluringly sweet and seamless in the mouth, offering lively black raspberry, cherry liqueur, licorice and baking spice flavors braced by a spine of juicy acidity. Finishes supple and long, with lingering floral and spice notes and subtle tannins that lend shape and gentle grip.

  6. Flor de Vetus

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#55713

    JS9393 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, November 2, 2020
A red with blackberry and plum aromas and flavors and orange-peel undertones. It’s full-bodied with ripe tannins and a flavorful finish. Give it a year or two to soften and come together. Drink after 2021.
    RP9191 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Jun 2021
The organic entry-level 2018 Flor de Vetus is Tinta de Toro from vines around the winery next to VIllabuena del Puente planted in 1999 and certified organic in 2018. It fermented in stainless steel and matured in oak barrels for 11 months. It has contained ripeness and moderate alcohol and acidity, reflecting a cooler year with a long and slow ripening of the grapes. It’s sleek, polished and very balanced, with unusual elegance for the region. 124,027 bottles and 100 magnums produced. It was bottled in May 2020.

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#59149

    VN9393 pts. - Vinous - Jul 2022
The 2019 La Massa is a very pretty wine. Crushed flowers, red berry fruit, mint, chalk and spice accents are all nicely delineated. There’s terrific energy driving the 2019. Once again, Giampaolo Motta’s Sangiovese-based blend delivers the goods. (Antonio Galloni)
    JS9292 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, August 8, 2022
This has aromas of sour cherries, currants, lemon leaves and olive stones. It’s juicy and bright with a medium body and fine tannins. Savory, focused and tight finish. Better from 2023.

  12. Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

    2017 / 750 ml. | Item#57622

    JS9696 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, March 1, 2022
This is a big upgrade in finesse and clarity to such a popular, premium cabernet from Napa. It shows lots of blackberry, tar, cedar and oak-tree aromas that follow through to a full yet toned palate of fine, integrated tannins and a vivid finish. Owner David Duncan explained that the American oak they use in the wine for aging now comes 100% from their own barrel-making facilities, which tones down the vanilla character in the wine. Really impressive and delicious. It’s a joy to drink now, but can age. Drink or hold.

  14. Alain Jaume Côtes du Rhône Haut de Brun

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#57457

    WE8989 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 7/1/2021
Dusty shards of granite, lavender and sun-kissed mulberries perfume this wine from Alain Jaume. It’s an approachable, fruity blend of Grenache (60%), Syrah (30%) and Cinsault (10%) cut by a revitalizing strike of acidity and a lingering stony finish. Best enjoyed now–2024.
    JD8989 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 10/6/2020
Mostly Grenache blended with roughly 30% Syrah, brought up all in tank, the 2019 Côtes Du Rhône Haut De Brun is another terrific release from this estate that delivers loads of pleasure for not much buck. Impressive red and black fruits, notes of peppery garrigue, and earth, medium-bodied richness, and a juicy, gulpable style all make for a seriously good Côtes du Rhône to enjoy over the coming 3–5 years. (Jeb Dunnuck)
    RP8888 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 24th Sep 2020
The 2019 Cotes du Rhone Haut de Brun comes across as slightly darker and more concentrated than the 2018, showing hints of blueberries and black cherries mixing in with the raspberries and cherries. It’s medium to full-bodied, shows some soft, velvety tannins, and displays admirable purity on the finish.

  15. Altos Las Hormigas Malbec Clásico

    2020 / 750 ml. | Item#59151

    RP90+90+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Nov 2022
The red 2020 Malbec Clásico was produced with 80% grapes from Luján de Cuyo and 20% grapes from Valle de Uco, mostly their own grapes, all in stainless steel and vinified by plot with their native yeasts. It matured in concrete for nine months. It’s ripe without excess and develops a full array of aromas and flavors but keeping 13.5% alcohol, very fresh for the warm year. It’s juicy, complex beyond fruit, a little herbal, medium-bodied and with very fine tannins. It’s clean, expressive and open, a wine that has to be approachable from when you pull the cork. They are working to increase the drinkability, which will be seen more and more in the following years. This represents the largest part of their production with some 500,000 bottles. There are different bottlings. (Luis Gutiérrez)
    VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Nov 2022
The 2020 Malbec Clásico is 75% from Luján de Cuyo and 25% from the Uco Valley. A mild purple hue. Considering the year, the nose presents notes of quite fresh plum with hints of herbs, syrup and floral aromas. In the mouth, it has good volume, firm, grippy tannins and an expansive flow before the ripe finish. (Joaquín Hidalgo)
    JS9090 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, May 3, 2022
Nice sour cherries with a streak of white pepper and violets. Medium-bodied, but fleshy. Ripe, almost creamy tannins extend to the finish, but are still juicy and vibrant. Not complex, but so balanced and easy to drink. Drink now.
