JD9898 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - January 31, 2019 One rocking wine, the 2015 Cappella is a powerful, rich effort that has badass levels of black, black fruits, graphite, licorice, and crushed rocks. From a site on the west side of St. Helena and a blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Cabernet Franc, and 13% Petit Verdot, it has a layered, multi-dimensional, stacked profile and is just loaded with glycerin and opulence. Feel free to drink this thriller any time over the coming 3 decades or more. (Jeb Dunnuck)RP96+96–100 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 28th Oct 2016 The 2015 Cappella should be close to perfection when it is finally released in several years. Inky bluish/purple to the rim, with blackberry, chocolate, graphite, barbecue smoke and forest floor notes, this incredibly rich, pure, structured and powerful wine is multi-dimensional, with huge levels of fruit and glycerin. To say it is a tour de force is almost an understatement. It should have 30–50 years of longevity.VN9696 pts. - Vinous - Dec 2018 The 2015 Cappella is dark, racy and voluptuous. Black cherry, plum, chocolate, licorice and dark spice are pushed forward in a sumptuous, flamboyant wine. Today, the 2015 Cappella is decidedly somber and more inward than I have seen it in the past. Plush fruit and silky tannins add to the wine’s considerable appeal, and there is plenty of that.
RP98+98–100 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 28th Oct 2016 Abreu is now calling his vineyard on Howell Mountain (a tract of 33 acres with 15 planted) Las Posadas, after the road high on the mountain that seems to be the Fifth Avenue of Howell Mountain vineyard sites. The seamless 2015 Las Posadas Proprietary Red nearly redefines opulence, extravagance, and intensity in its haute couture style. A candidate for perfection, the wine has notes of fruitcake, licorice, black truffle, forest floor, spring flowers, and black fruits that literally soar from the glass and continue across the palate with a cascade of earthly delights. This is a magnificent, almost chillingly perfect wine that has to be tasted to be experienced.JD9898 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - January 31, 2019 The 2015 Las Posadas comes from an estate vineyard on Howell Mountain that lies at 2,000 feet in elevation, above the fog line. This singular effort has a flamboyant, mineral-laced bouquet of black and blue fruits, forest floor, camphor, chocolate, and exotic flowers, and is an incredible expression of this mountain terroir. With great, great intensity, beautiful purity of fruit, and again, this savory, mineral-driven character, it has enough tannins to warrant 2–4 years of bottle age and will keep for 4–5 decades. This cuvée is 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Cabernet Franc, 14% Petit Verdot, and the rest Merlot and Malbec. (Jeb Dunnuck)VN9797 pts. - Vinous - Dec 2018 The 2015 Las Posadas is dark, sensual and totally inviting. Plush fruit and silky tannins push the black plum and blackberry fruit forward. Deep and resonant on the palate, the 2015 exudes class from start to finish. Like the rest of the other Abreu 2015s, the Posadas will drink well upon release. Hints of lavender and spice meld into the pliant, inviting finish. There is so much to like here.
JS9393 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Sunday, December 5, 2021 Perfumed cabernet with aromas of blackcurrants, blackberries, raspberries, thyme, violets, crushed stones and cloves. Full-bodied with firm, grainy tannins. Structured and concentrated. Better after 2023.RP92+92–94 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 18th Mar 2021 The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple in color, it charges out of the gate with loads of blueberry preserves and stewed black plums notes on the nose with faint suggestions of redcurrant jelly and rose hip tea plus a waft of wild sage. Full-bodied and jam-packed with ripe black and blue fruit, it has a soft texture and perfumed finish. 10,000 cases are due to be made. (Lisa Perrotti-Brown)VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2022 The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is polished, nuanced and so delicious. Silky and floral, with vibrant red-toned fruit, the Napa Valley Cabernet delivers the goods. It is a positively stellar wine from Amici. I loved it. (Antonio Galloni)JD9292 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 3/10/2022 Made with the goal of great Napa Cabernet at $50 bucks, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley succeeds admirably, offering gorgeous cassis, violet, and chocolaty aromatics as well as medium to full-bodied richness, a balanced, layered mouthfeel, and silky tannins. It competes with wines at three times the cost. The blend is 88% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% each of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, aged 20 months in 75% new barrels. (Jeb Dunnuck)
JD9696 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 3/10/2022 The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Napa Valley comes from a mix of all the single vineyards. Readers should never overlook this type of wine, as the ability to blend from multiple sites gives winemakers incredible flexibility, and these wines can represent smoking values. Full-bodied aromas and flavors of currants, chocolate, lead pencil, and graphite emerge from this beauty, and it’s ripe, mouth-filling and balanced, with a great texture. It’s in the running for the best Napa Cabernet Sauvignon at the price point. (Jeb Dunnuck)RP94+94–96 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 18th Mar 2021 The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is composed of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petit Verdot and 6% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple in color, it prances out of the glass with showy notes of warm cassis, baked black berries, Black Forest cake and menthol, plus suggestions of cardamom and licorice. The medium to full-bodied palate is refreshing and elegantly styled with bags of juicy, expressive black fruits and a satisfyingly savory finish. 1,600 cases are due to be made.VN9494 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2022 The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is an outrageously beautiful wine. As I have written here before, the Reserve more than holds its own next to the vineyard designates. I adore the Reserve for its opulence, grip and intensity. Blackberry jam, chocolate, licorice, espresso, lavender and dried herbs build over time, but the Reserve is a wine to admire for its completeness. And, it is a steal in the world of high-end Napa Valley Cabernets.

VN9393 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2022 The 2020 Ribolla Gialla Vare Vineyard is super-elegant, savory and nuanced. In 2020, the Ribolla has a bit more edginess than in most years, probably a combination of the natural character of Ribolla, early bottling and the early personality of the year. I like the aromatics quite a bit, though. This needs time in bottle. There is plenty of energy.
WE9292 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 7/1/2022 This wine delightfully overdelivers on its price point, offering dark chocolate and cherry richness around a lush texture of approachable elegance. Hints of clove, nutmeg and oak provide a balanced nuance of savory contrast. (Virginie Boone)
SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 31, 2022 Fresh, direct and focused, with red currant and cherry coulis notes that race through, dotted with savory, floral and tobacco accents. Judicious toast lets the fruit play out, and there’s solid energy throughout. Drink now through 2030. 44,700 cases made. (James Molesworth)JS9292 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Thursday, May 5, 2022 Redcurrant and tile with some clove. Dark stone, too. Medium-bodied with some fresh herbs and dried thyme. Medium, ripe tannins. Fresh, creamy finish. A blend of 93% cabernet sauvignon with petite sirah and cabernet franc. Drink or hold.WE9191 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/1/2022 This well-balanced, moderately tannic wine offers black fruits, oak spice and a lightly gripping texture, all in good proportions. It’s a pleasurable wine that shows the typical, attractive black cherries, black olives and hints of baking spices. (Jim Gordon)
JS9898 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, November 30, 2020 This shows really beautiful purity of fruit with polish and sophistication. The currant and cassis aromas are so enticing and really reflect the name of the wine. Medium to full body. Extremely fine tannins. Shows a level of freshness and agility that caresses the palate. Delicate and beautiful. Mostly Howell Mountain. Drink or hold.JD9696 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 1/31/2020 The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve is brilliant, with a ripe, powerful style that’s going to age gracefully. Deep blackcurrants, dark chocolate, scorched earth, and graphite notes all emerge from this concentrated, powerful Cabernet that has ripe tannins, a big, rich mid-palate, and a great finish. It’s going to benefit from 3–5 years of bottle age and keep for upwards of two decades with no issues. (Jeb Dunnuck)WE9595 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 3/1/2021 Thick and concentrated in dense layers of cedar, pencil shaving and currant, this reserve-worthy wine is substantial in body wight and power, with considerable oak impact, as it was aged 20 months in 80% new French oak. Still, it shows remarkable underlying beauty, complexity and structure. It is a blockbuster that will do well in the cellar. Enjoy best from 2027 through 2037. (Virginie Boone)RP9494 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 13th Aug 2020 Composed of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc, the deep garnet-purple colored 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve springs from the glass with notions of red and black currant jelly, baker’s chocolate, menthol and spice cake plus hints of violets, cedar and kirsch in the undercurrent. Medium to full-bodied, the palate reveals a firm, finely grained texture with tons of freshness backing up the generous fruit, finishing long and perfumed. 9,644 cases were made. (Lisa Perrotti-Brown)VN9494 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2020 Beringer’s flagship Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve is very pretty in 2017. Sweet red cherry, red plum, mint, licorice and floral notes all grace this super-expressive and inviting Private Reserve. As always, the Private Reserve is a blend from a number of the sites Beringer works with, based on a core of Howell Mountain vineyards. (Antonio Galloni)SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 15, 2020 Plush and forward, with creamed plum and blackberry puree flavors, carried by cocoa and warm loam notes. Everything knits nicely through the finish. A crowd-pleaser style. Drink now through 2029. 9,644 cases made. (James Molesworth)
RP9393 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st May 2022 Although not labeled as such, Beringer’s Private Reserve Chardonnay has been sourced for decades from the Gamble Ranch in Oakville. Planted around 1976 to Clone 4, the grapes are picked ripe and barrel fermented at relatively warm temperatures to build mouthfeel. The 2020 Chardonnay Private Reserve (along with all the other white varieties) was picked prior to any risk of smoke taint. Marked by scents of mango, guava and pineapple, it doesn’t come across as that oaky, despite being barrel fermented and aged in approximately 80% new French oak. It’s full-bodied and slightly buttery, with an appealing custardy richness and a long finish. (Joe Czerwinski)SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - Jul 31, 2022 Peach, apricot and mango flavors are juicy and fleshy at the core of this white, with honeyed overtones. Salted butter, spice and toasted pastry notes emerge on the finish, as does a touch of dried ginger. Drink now. 8,714 cases made. (MaryAnn Worobiec)VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2022 The 2020 Chardonnay Private Reserve is creamy, open-knit and expressive. Lemon confit, spice, vanillin and light tropical notes all grace the 2020. As always, the Private Reserve is done in a richer, creamier style than the Luminus Chardonnay. That approach worked well in 2020. (Antonio Galloni)
