Contrary to popular belief, red wine doesn't start out red! While the grapes are fermenting in tanks, the grape skins, stems, and seeds are added to the mix, which gives the wine a dark ruby red color as well as imparting tannins and various other flavors.
The most common types of red wine are Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, and Malbec, but at WineMadeEasy.com we have a huge red wine list featuring an impressive selection, and our list is always growing. Our staff rates and reviews new wines every day to help you discover new gems. It is a difficult question: what is the best red wine? With our great prices, you can try a variety of new red wines and decide for yourself.

VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2022 The 2020 Rosso di Montalcino wafts up with dusty rose, strawberries and hints of black tea. It’s soft in feel, with a twang of tangerine that gives way to tart cherries and inner cinnamon and clove. This remains nicely energetic while coming across as potent, and it lingers incredibly long. Caparzo found an excellent balance in 2020, and I love the exotic nuances found within. Very nice. (Eric Guido)
WE9191 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 5/1/2022 Made with organically farmed grapes—90% Sangiovese, 5% Canaiolo and 5% Colorino—this opens with aromas of black-skinned berry, underbrush and leather. The fragrant, balanced palate offers black cherry, clove and licorice alongside firm, polished tannins. Drink 2023–2030. (Kerin O’Keefe)JS9191 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Thursday, November 4, 2021 A well-defined and typical Chianti Rufina with aromas and flavors of berries and cherries, as well as darker, savory notes of bark and dried herbs. Medium body and grainy tannins that have a dusty-oak coating that absorbs the fruit flavors nicely and gives a long, firm and a slightly bitter, licoricy finish. From organically grown grapes. Drinkable now, but will be better integrated in 2023.Premier SelectPremier Select wines are handpicked by our staff from amongst thousands of wines for their exceptional quality. JS9292 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, October 5, 2021 Aromas of plums, black cherries, blackberries, tomato leaf, dried herb and spice box. Medium-to full-bodied with firm, polished tannins. Rich and fleshy on the palate with a lots of black fruit. Flavorful finish. Try from 2023.SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 15, 2021 There’s depth to the concentrated black cherry and blackberry fruit, shaded by vanilla, earth and graphite notes. Dense and muscular, with a long finish. Sangioveto, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2023 through 2028. 15,000 cases made, 7,000 cases imported. (Bruce Sanderson)
RP91+91+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 14th May 2020 The youthful, flashy exuberance of this wine is impossible to miss. The Tua Rita 2019 Rosso dei Notri offers pronounced primary fruit that bursts out of the glass with immediate directness and frankness. This is a blend of 30% Sangiovese, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Syrah and 20% Merlot. Although it’s not declared, there’s a tiny touch of Cabernet Franc in there as well that grounds the wine with an extra point of darkness and richness. Most of the blending components do not see oak, but those that do (like the Merlot) go through a brief three months in declassified barrique (hand-downs from Tua Rita’s top wines). This estate practices a clever pre-harvest harvest. Some of the fruit from across the various parcels is harvested about 10 days earlier. That fruit, with its extra freshness and acidic brightness, goes into this wine. Indeed, some 150,000 bottles are produced, so this is the bread-and-butter bottle from the estate. The best clusters are left on the vines to mature fully before the second harvest, and that fruit goes into Tua Rita’s benchmarks. Doing two harvests in this manner preserves the character of the best fruit on the one hand and creates this entry-level offering on the other. This easy red is a great match to a platter of Italian salumi and cheeses. This wine will be released in June 2020, and it offers terrific value.
VN8989 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2023 The 2021 Chianti Biskero bursts from the glass with a fruit-forward mix of raspberry, black cherries and autumnal spice. This is plush in feel; vibrant acidity and ripe red berry fruits create an energetic and jovial expression. It leaves just a touch of sweet tannins while tapering off long yet playful in style. This may be a no-frills style of Chianti, but it’s also full of character. The Biskero is a blend of 85% Sangiovese, 5% Mammolo, 5% Canaiolo and 5% Merlot. (Eric Guido)
