Contrary to popular belief, red wine doesn't start out red! While the grapes are fermenting in tanks, the grape skins, stems, and seeds are added to the mix, which gives the wine a dark ruby red color as well as imparting tannins and various other flavors.
The most common types of red wine are Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, and Malbec, but at WineMadeEasy.com we have a huge red wine list featuring an impressive selection, and our list is always growing. Our staff rates and reviews new wines every day to help you discover new gems. It is a difficult question: what is the best red wine? With our great prices, you can try a variety of new red wines and decide for yourself.
JD9696 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 5/6/2021 Coming from a site on Snipes Mountain and all Syrah that wasn’t destemmed, the 2018 Syrah Cattle King Upland Vineyard boasts a medium ruby, almost opaque color as well as a gorgeous perfume of framboise, mulberries, flowery incense, lavender, and herbes de Provence. It shows plenty of bacon fat and meatiness with time in the glass and is medium to full-bodied, with silky tannins, beautiful overall balance, and a great finish. This complex, Burgundian-style Syrah is going to evolve of 10–15 years. (Jeb Dunnuck)VN9393 pts. - Vinous - Mar 2022 The 2018 Syrah Cattle King is sourced from the Upland vineyard on Snipes Mountain, set on a steep slope of river rock. The wine was aged in 50% new French oak puncheons for 24 months before bottling. It delivers plenty of aromatic range, from rich dark fruits to stony undertones to nori and crème de violette. The palate is very fresh and refined, with beautiful length and mouthwatering acidity alongside a core of black cherry and black raspberry fruits with salty/stony undertones. Glorious to consume now, this has another 10 years to go.
