RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Oct 2022 The 2019 Lanessan continues to perform very well, wafting from the glass with aromas of sweet berries, licorice and fresh tobacco. Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with rich, powdery tannins and a vibrant core of fruit, it’s a fine effort from a property with immense potential. (William Kelley)
JD9191 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 5/4/2023 From Verduno and Roddi and aged only in large cask to keep the freshness of the Barbera, the 2021 Barbera D’Alba is charming, with a sweet perfume of candied flowers and blackberries. Medium-bodied, with a silky texture, ripe plum fruit, and fresh acidity, it also has a great finish. Balanced and harmonious, this is a lovely Barbera—I would drink this. (Audrey Frick)VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Dec 2022 The 2021 Barbera d’Alba is bright, effusive and charming. Crushed flowers, vibrant red-toned fruit, spice and mocha are all amplified in this joyous, youthfully exuberant Barbera. Medium in body and exuberant, the Barbera is an absolute delight. Vineyard sites are in Verduno and Roddi. Aging is in cask. The Barbera is often one of my favorite wines in this range, as it is again in 2021. (Antonio Galloni)
RP9393 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Dec 2022 The 2021 Discovery Cabernet Sauvignon is blended with 11% Petit Verdot, 8% Merlot and 1% Cabernet Franc and matured 10 months in 50% new French oak. Deep ruby, it has pure aromas of cassis, prosciutto, sage, thyme and pencil shavings with a classy frame of new oak spice. Medium-bodied, refreshing and supple, it offers generous, mineral-laced fruits and a long finish. This is easy to drink! (Erin Brooks)WE9191 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/31/2022 The nose on this wine is herbal with anise, oregano and pencil-shaving aromas, while blackberry and cocoa provide depth. Fennel pollen and roasted nut flavors meet with rich berry on the palate, where tannins are light but present. (Matt Kettmann)
JD9292 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 8/16/2019 The Lirac from this estate is the 2017 Lirac Clos de Sixte. It’s another deep purple-colored effort offering powerful notes of ripe black cherries, melted licorice, violets, and pepper. Full-bodied, forward, ripe, and flamboyantly styled, it’s packed with fruit and texture. Drink it over the coming 4–6 years. (Jeb Dunnuck)RP90+90–92 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Oct 2019 Aged in a mix of tanks (70%) and barrels (30%), the 2017 Lirac Domaine du Clos de Sixte is a blend of 50% Grenache, 35% Syrah and 15% Mourvèdre. Hints of vanilla and licorice accent dark, cola-like notes and plummy fruit fruit in this full-bodied, plush, velvety-textured wine. It should drink well for 5–6 years. Tasted twice (once blind), with consistent notes. (Joe Czerwinski)JS9090 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Friday, October 11, 2019 Attractive violet flowers and a fresh and juicy feel with a ripe-tannin core that has real punch and weight on the palate. Bold wine here. From organically grown grapes. Drink now.
JD94+94–96 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 12/14/2020 Also showing considerable elegance, the 2019 Gigondas Les Souteyrades sports a ruby/purple hue to go with beautiful and exotic notes of black raspberries, kirsch, candied orange, violets, and peppery garrigue. Beautifully balanced, medium to full-bodied, and downright silky on the palate, this heavenly Grenache should be snatched up by readers. It’s going to keep for 15 years. (Jeb Dunnuck)RP93+93–95 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Mar 2021 Not as effusive on the nose as the La Louisiane, the 2019 Gigondas les Souteyrades is drier, sterner stuff — not as immediately approachable, with more savory notes of black olives and earth. There are still notes of ripe plums and raspberries in this full-bodied effort but also a firm core of dusty tannins to ensure more than a decade of longevity. It’s a blend of Grenache and Mourvèdre from a clay-rich, north-facing slope.
WE9393 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 11/1/2022 Expected lychee notes get a pleasant lemon zest lift on the nose. A crisp, tangy, slightly saline front palate is linear and taut, but it opens up on the finish to bright lychee and lemon ice notes that give a lasting, fruity-but-not-sweet impression. (Layla Schlack)JS9090 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, August 8, 2022 A bold and floral gewurz with plenty of yellow-rose character. Generous and soft palate with a hint of bitterness that actually adds to the impression of freshness. With some aeration, cinnamon and allspice character develops. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink now.
WS9090 pts. - Wine & Spirits - December 1, 2013 Brisk, lemony and thoroughly refreshing, this sparkler’s ripe pear flavors and mild pear-skin finish would merit a pairing with miso-glazed chicken. It’s also an irresistible aperitif.WE8989 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 11/1/2017 With its juicy, concentrated peach, nectarine and apple flavors, the Célèbre is Dr. Frank’s more approachable, easy-going sparkling. It’s fruity, forward and delicately sweet yet maintains steadfast acidity and a soft, foamy mouthfeel.VN8787 pts. - Vinous - Jul 2016 Chateau Frank’s NV Célèbre Crémant is a sparkling Riesling made using the méthode Champenoise, with a base wine of 2013. This off-dry wine has a fruity nose of spun sugar, kiwis, green apples, and a pronounced flint tone. The palate is playful and easy-drinking, with a gentle mousse and a sweet caress of fruit. 25 grams per liter residual sugar. Disgorged January 2016.

WE9494 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 9/1/2022 Lovely Nebbiolo aromas of rose, violet, red berry and botanical herb shape the fragrant nose. Smooth and savory, the elegant palate features juicy red cherry, crushed raspberry and cake spice alongside polished tannins. Fresh acidity keeps it balanced. It’s already drinking beautifully but also promises years of pleasure. Enjoy through 2030. (Kerin O’Keefe)RP93+93+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 11th Aug 2022 This wine consistently delivers one of the greatest values to be found in Italian wine. The G.D. Vajra 2018 Barolo Albe has all its cards in play as an immediately enjoyable and extremely food-friendly Nebbiolo. This really is the top of the category in that sense. With straightforward winemaking (fermentation is in steel and aging in large Slavonian oak casks), the wine offers bold cherry, wild plum and plenty of fragrant blue flower and violet. This vintage has the added benefit of softly textured richness. (Monica Larner)SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2022 A taut, sinewy red, this keeps cherry, strawberry, floral and underbrush flavors under a wrap of tannins for now. Overall, the components are well-proportioned, and this ends with complexity, harmony and length. Best from 2024 through 2036. 3,417 cases made. (Bruce Sanderson)JS9292 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Sunday, October 2, 2022 Aromas of ripe raspberries and dark spice follow through to a medium-to full-bodied palate, with some fine, fruit and spice-coated tannin and a medium finish that firms up at the end. Sustainable. Give this a year or two. Best from 2024.WS9090 pts. - Wine & Spirits - 12/22 This is the estate’s entry-level Barolo, but, according to Giuseppe Vaira, the family never views it as a leftover wine. They harvest nebbiolo from younger vines in the same three high-elevation vineyards each year, although those vines now average 30 years of age. The wine shows classic notes of tar and licorice, with smooth tannins and ripe dark-fruit flavors that make it approachable in its youth.

SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - Mar 31, 2022 A vibrant red that’s multilayered with raspberry and tart cherry flavors that are accented by crushed stone and dusky spice notes, building tension toward medium-grained tannins. Drink now through 2030. 5,000 cases made.JS9393 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Thursday, April 28, 2022 Aromas of dark strawberry and stone with some orange-peel undertones. Medium to full body with a solid texture of pure tannins and a fresh finish. Curated and focused. Sustainable. Drink or hold.WE9292 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 4/1/2022 An aromatic mix of toasted hazelnuts, blackberry fruit spread, nutella and peanut butter opens into an inviting palate with generous fruit and well-tempered tannins. The moderately low alcohol in no way detracts from the flavor, and subtle details of spice and herb that higher alcohol often conceals are here to discover.JD9292 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 8/16/2022 The 2019 Pinot Noir Yamhill-Carlton is perfumed with savory fresh pine, grapefruit, cedar, and incense as well as black cherry fruit. The palate is dry, revealing notes of black raspberry, tobacco, and dusty earth. Drink 2023-2032. (Jeb Dunnuck)
JS9292 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Sunday, December 5, 2021 A very aromatic red, offering baking spices, such as cinnamon, cloves and anisette, as well as notes of ripe blackcurrants, plums and dark chocolate. Full-bodied with soft tannins and a ripe yet vibrant and juicy fruit core. Long, warming finish. Drinkable now, but better in a few years.SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 31, 2022 Ripe and caressing in feel, with cassis and plum paste mixed with toasted vanilla and sweet tobacco. A subtle cedar twinge adds range on the generous finish. Drink now through 2028. 26,100 cases made. (James Molesworth)
