Vivid ruby. Classic Chinon nose that’s earthy, savory and meaty, showing notes of plum and tomato. On the palate, flavors of black cherry and licorice, rich and plush, along with velvety tannins, attractive hints of pencil shavings and a long dark mineral finish.

    JS9191 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Thursday, April 28, 2022
Complex savory and redcurrant nose with plenty of herbal nuances. Very satisfying interplay of ripeness and freshness, the healthy tannins very neatly balancing the hint of berry sweetness at the long finish. A cuvée of 85% cabernet franc with 10% cabernet sauvignon and 5% merlot. Drink or hold.

    2020 / 750 ml. | Item#58525

    WE9191 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 10/1/2022
Cohesive aromas of black cherry, black plum and tilled earth are lifted by savory accents of dewy herbs and crushed red pepper flakes in this well balanced Cabernet Franc. It shows smooth tannins on the palate that support the juicy berry and plum flavors, with a polish and poise to it all that makes it a delight to drink. (Alexander Peartree)

Complex nose of herbs, savory notes and redcurrants. Quite a crisp palate, but with plenty of red and black currants. Good depth and healthy tannins are packed into the rather sleek body, together with lively acidity. Drink now.

  9. Mulderbosch Faithful Hound

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#55355

    RP9191 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Jul 2023
Composed of 29% Cabernet Franc, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 12% Malbec and 12% Petit Verdot, the 2019 Faithful Hound offers a ripe, succulent and healthy frame of red fruits that burst out of the glass. Medium-bodied, the palate provides complexity and elegance with a balanced structure, offering subtle notes of pencil shavings, oak spice and herbs that lift the mid-palate. The wine continues to uncoil in the mouth as it glides to a graceful and lingering finish. It will continue drinking well for years to come. The wine rested 18 months in French oak barriques, 30% new. 108,000 bottles were produced. Give it a try. (Anthony Mueller)

  10. Pollard Red Wine

    Pollard Vineyard
    2017 / 750 ml. | Item#57160

    RP9191 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 22nd Oct 2020
Dark ruby with purple highlights, the 2017 Pollard Vineyard Red Wine offers seductive aromas of blackberry essence, dark cherry, juicy plum, turned earth and worn leather with subtle baking spices. A blend of 44% Cabernet Franc, 37% Merlot and 19% Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine is medium-bodied and shows impeccable balance with a clearly defined framework of fruit. The expression is velvety on the palate, with a delicate but persistent finish. It’s a beautiful wine!
    VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Dec 2019
Bright, moderately saturated ruby-red. A faint note of musky reduction to the aromas of dark raspberry, flowers, mint and milk chocolate. Suave and smooth on entry, then easygoing and fine-grained in the mid-palate, with enticing floral lift to the moderately dense black and blue fruit and licorice flavors. I find this wine a bit more harmonious and filled in than the ’16 version, but then these vines are still very young (this ’17 was from just the fourth leaf). Suaver and longer than the 2016 release, with the tannins better supported by fruit. Not a sweet style, but this blend will give early pleasure. The Pollard wines are gently priced for serious Washington reds.
