  1. Passopisciaro Contrada Chiappemacine

    2012 / 750 ml. | Item#40754

    RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 29th Sep 2015
The “C” in the 2012 Contrada C stands for Chiappemacine. This is a 1.2 hectare vineyard planted to 80-year-old vines at 550 meters above sea level. The soils here consist of a thin layer of volcanic lava that allows the roots to penetrate the sandy limestone below. This results in a softer wine with a round and plush mouthfeel. Bright berry nuances are followed by pressed rose petal and crushed stone. I would suggest a slightly shorter drinking window for Contrada C. It ages in botte grande for 18 months.
    SP9191 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2015
Open-knit and woodsy up front, with approachable black cherry, licorice string, smoke and sandalwood flavors, featuring supple tannins that firm up on the solid finish. Should develop with decanting or short-term cellaring. Nerello Mascalese. Drink now through 2028. 240 cases made.

  2. Disznókű Aszú 5 Puttonyos

    2012 / 500 ml. | Item#55851

    WE9595 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 9/1/2021
Straw-colored with gold reflections, this wine offers aromas of apricot, peach and pear. In the mouth, flavors include honeycomb, Bartlett pear and canned peaches. It finishes with sweetness that is balanced by the ample acidity.
    RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 28th Oct 2016
Tasted at the Disznóko vertical in London, the 2012 Tokaji Aszu 5 Puttonyos is 100% Furmint in terms of Aszu grapes. It has a more complex bouquet than the 2013 with dried honey, grilled walnut, lanolin and yellow flowers, the kind of nose that seduces you, draws you in. The palate is medium-bodied with a viscous opening, spicier than the 2013, although it does not quite deliver the same level of concentration and intensity. It gently fans out towards the finish, although I would like a little more depth to develop, so that there is more presence. Tasted September 2016.

  5. Petrolo Torrione

    2012 / 750 ml. | Item#41502

    VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Sep 2014
The 2012 Torrione is seriously beautiful. Dark red cherry, plum, spice and mocha notes flesh out in a supple, radiant wine endowed with gorgeous depth and pure resonance. All the elements meld together in this gracious, juicy Sangiovese-based red from Petrolo. Dollops of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon round out the blend.
    SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 31, 2014
Effusive aromas and flavors of cherry, strawberry and peony highlight this elegant red. Well-integrated tannins amp up the structure and density on the finish. Best from 2016 through 2023. 3,750 cases made.
