Shop the Best Wines from Sonoma County

Sonoma County and Napa Valley are the most prestigious wine regions in California, with Sonoma County wines known for being more laid-back than their Napa counterparts. That's not to say that Sonoma County wines aren't wonderfully sophisticated, because they are.

Sonoma's cool, coastal climate makes much of it ideal for growing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, but sharp, robust Zinfandels can also be produced in areas like Dry Creek Valley. Among the more famous Sonoma County wine producers are Benziger, Deloach, Gallo Family Vineyards and Simi Winery.

    RP9191 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 15th Jun 2023
The 2021 Chardonnay One Sixteen, matured for 14 months in 34% new French oak, takes some time to shake off its youthful crème brûlée and allspice tones to reveal apricot, beeswax and honeysuckle aromas. The medium-bodied palate offers powerful fruit and oak spice and satisfying freshness to lift the finish. (Erin Brooks)

The 2021 Pinot Noir Russian River Valley was matured for 15 months in 34% new oak. It has a medium ruby color and generous aromatic layers of lavender, licorice, eucalyptus and forest floor with a core of dark fruit. The medium-bodied palate is powerful, its concentrated fruit complemented by well-integrated oak spice. It has abundant, grainy tannins, bursts of mouthwatering acidity and a very long, layered finish. Offer it another 2–3 years in bottle to unwind. (Erin Brooks)

The 2021 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast was matured in 39% new oak for 15 months. The nose opens slowly from allspice and brown sugar to a core of red cherry and cranberry, tea leaves and lavender. The medium-bodied palate offers surprisingly concentrated fruit supported by grainy tannins and seamless freshness, and it has a long, spicy finish. (Erin Brooks)

    2021 / 750 ml. | Item#59227

    JD9090 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 7/21/2023
A youthful ruby with a purple tinge, the 2021 Pinot Noir Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is ripe with black raspberry liqueur, cola spice, and purple flowers. Full-bodied, with a crunchy, more angular structure, it offers sweet tannins, ripe red berries and wild herbs, a gravelly texture, and a bit of toasted cedar. Drink 2024-2030. (Audrey Frick)

  14. Martinelli “Giuseppe & Luisa” Zinfandel

    2013 / 1.5 L. | Item#42328

    VN9393 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2015
One of the more overt, voluptuous Zinfandels in the range, the 2013 Giuseppe & Luisa blossoms in the glass with effortless grace. Dried dark cherries, plums, tobacco, leather and smoke. The flavors are dark, bold and racy, yet the 2013 retains its mid-weight personality and plenty of nuance. Layers of flavor build to the creamy, layered finish.
    SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Jun 30, 2015
Bold and jammy, but surprisingly light-footed. Aromas of ripe raspberry and spiced cinnamon open to lush flavors of black cherry, grilled anise and pepper. Drink now through 2020. 664 cases made.

  15. Martinelli “Giuseppe & Luisa” Zinfandel

    2020 / 750 ml. | Item#57573

    VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2022
The 2020 Zinfandel Giuseppe & Luisa is a rich, heady wine. Super-ripe dark cherry, plum, spice, mint, tobacco and kirsch are nicely pushed forward. There’s good depth to the fruit, but also some aggressiveness in the tannin. Then again, that is 2020. (Antonio Galloni)
