  1. Bryant Family Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

    2010 / 750 ml. | Item#36250

    RP96+96+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 26th Dec 2012
Smoke, tar, incense and licorice are some of the many notes that emerge from the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon. This is an especially dark, brooding vintage for Bryant. Cassis, pencil shavings and melted road tar emerge later, adding further complexity and nuance. Unlike the 2009, there is little in the way of early appeal. On the other hand, I see the 2010 drinking beautifully for many, many years. There is an underlying vein of minerality that gives the 2010 a sense of energy and focus. Anticipated maturity: 2018–2030.
    VN95+95+ pts. - Vinous - May 2017
Bright red-ruby. A captivating cool aspect to the aromas of black raspberry, licorice and graphite. Classic youthfully dense, savory wine in a rather Old World style, showing a beautifully refined texture and a distinctly briney minerality to its flavors of blackcurrant, black cherry and chocolate. Clearly less viscous in texture than the 2009 but as strong in extract. The wine’s huge but thoroughly ripe tannins shut down the chewy, savory, very long finish in the early going. This beauty should unfold spectacularly over the next 20 years.
    SP9595 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 31, 2013
Seductive oak has a smooth vanilla bean edge, leading to a rich yet elegant core of spicy berry, mineral, mocha, gravelly earth and road tar. Most impressive on the finish, where the flavors retain their graceful balance and end with a long, persistent finish. Drink now through 2025.

    2011 / 750 ml. | Item#38251

    RP90+90–92 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Oct 2013
The softer, lighter 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Pritchard Hill reveals no hint of herbaceousness. It offers lots of red and black currants intertwined with hints of blueberry liquor, fewer floral notes, and attractive, medium-bodied, juicy fruit that provides allure as well as opulence. Enjoy it over the next 10–12 years.
    SP8989 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2014
Creamy textured from the start and gracefully built, with a subtle mix of mocha, black cherry, anise, cedar, dill and espresso notes, fanning out on the finish and ending with firm, fine-grained tannins. Drink now through 2022. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 619 cases made.

  3. Bryant Family Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

    2012 / 750 ml. | Item#40879

    RP9898 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 29th Dec 2014
Bryant’s flagship wine, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon from the estate vineyard on Pritchard Hill offers a rare but magnificent forest floor/floral aromatic profile with lavishly rich, ripe notes of crème de cassis, blueberry and black raspberry liqueur. Fleshy, opulent, full-bodied and multidimensional, it conceals some significant tannins behind its wealth of extract and fruit. From a first-growth quality, hillside vineyard (13 acres), this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is gorgeously pure as well as impeccably well-balanced with a seamless integration of tannin, acidity, alcohol and wood. In fact, the new oak component, which is significant, is largely obliterated by the wine’s stunning fruit. This majestic Cabernet Sauvignon should age effortlessly for 25–30 years.
    VN9393 pts. - Vinous - Dec 2014
The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon is silky, layered and very polished throughout. Red cherry, spice cake, crushed flowers and mint are laced together in a gracious, mid-weight Cabernet Sauvignon. Hints of orange peel and cinnamon add an exotic flair as the wine opens up. Bryant’s 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon is quite pretty, but it should really be more than that. It should be viscerally thrilling in the way the best vintages are.
    SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 15, 2015
Rustic and pleasantly chewy, this offers a rich, extracted core of dusty currant and blackberry flavors, ending with a stream of gravel, anise, tar and cedar notes. Drink now through 2028. 1,000 cases made.

    2014 / 750 ml. | Item#44871

    RP9696 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Dec 2016
Their 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon, which is 94% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Malbec (437 cases), is a stunner. Super-opaque purple in color, this cuvée is provocative and world-class. Inky purple in color, with crème de cassis, blackberry, espresso, graphite and a touch of oak, the wine is full-bodied, extremely rich and pure with wonderfully integrated acidity, tannin and alcohol. The finish goes on for 50+ seconds. This is a killer wine and a great 2014 that is capable of lasting 25–30 or more years for those with patience.
    VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Dec 2016
Buoncristiani’s 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the most immediate and flamboyant 2014s I tasted. Dark, plush and inviting, the 2014 possesses tons of concentration and breadth. Silky tannins give the wine its seamless, voluptuous personality. The bold, powerful style is undeniably attractive.

  5. Bussola TB Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva

    2012 / 750 ml. | Item#60502

    VN9898 pts. - Vinous - Mar 2023
The 2012 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva TB takes things to a much darker, deeper and more savory place than nearly any wine in its category. Cloves and cinnamon combine with balsamic spice, molten chocolate and medicinal blackberries as this blossoms in the glass. It floods the palate with racy, silky textures and an intense burst of ultra-ripe red and black fruits offset by a bitter twang of sour citrus and cocoa. Tantalizing acidity barely maintains balance yet ultimately succeeds. Exotic spices and dried black cherries saturate and are framed by a coating of fine tannins that promises decades of further evolution. This is a powerhouse. (Eric Guido)
    JS9494 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, September 6, 2022
This is a structured and solid Amarone, with dried fruits, sultanas, figs and iron. It’s full-bodied, yet compacted and tannic with a long and persistent finish. One for the cellar, but already impressive to drink. (James Suckling)
    SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - Apr 30, 2023
Both juicy and mouthwatering, this rich red shows a lot of personality, offering layered flavors of blackberry pie and raspberry ganache, hints of espresso and sweet smoke, plus fragrant juniper, eucalyptus, lavender and leather accents. Features firm, well-meshed tannins, with creamy edges that meld into the silky flavor range. Drink now through 2035. 668 cases made. (Alison Napjus)

  6. Bussola TB Vigneto Alto Amarone della Valpolicella Classico

    2010 / 750 ml. | Item#55800

    VN9797 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2021
A dark display of musky black cherries, mocha, brown sugar, cinnamon and sweet violet florals wafts up effortlessly from the 2010 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Vigneto Alto TB. There is a viscosity here that is more like molten chocolate than wine, as this contrasts savory, bitter and sweet, creamy yet full of energy, and it washes across the palate with ease. Its ripe red fruits and exotic spices are penetrating and persistent, yet zesty acids maintain vibrancy and leave you completely refreshed for another indulgent sip. The word “wow” does not do this justice, as it goes down way too easy. This is a rock-star wine already, yet it has the potential to evolve for many years in the cellar. The Vigneto Alto is sourced from 80-year-old vines. The wine is matured for 36 months in new barriques, after which only the best 11 barrels are picked and blended together into a 25-hectoliter barrel, where it refines for another 40 months.
    SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 31, 2020
Offers flavors of date, kirsch, dark chocolate and spice box, enlivened by bright, almost tangy acidity, while silky tannins form a supple frame. Aromatic herb and smoky mineral notes linger on the chewy finish. Best from 2022 through 2032. 300 cases made.

  7. Ca’Marcanda Camarcanda

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#59473

    JD9898 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 1/26/2023
The 2019 Camarcanda is a fabulous example of how the estate has been pushing the bar higher consistently and with a steady hand. It is layered and compelling, with rich aromas of sage, anise, lavender, black cherry liqueur, and crushed salty limestone earth. A profound and impeccable wine with harmonious depth and balanced structure, it is concentrated and compact throughout, but it drives forward in the mouth with seamless energy and somehow retains the incredible mineral texture that the 2018 shows off with distinction. With super-fine tannins, it has a long arch to its expression and balances sweet fruit with a Tuscan stamp of herbaceous and mineral accents. Incredible. Drink 2026–2046. (Audrey Frick)
    RP9797 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 12th Jan 2023
This is a gorgeous vintage that continues to flesh out beautifully. I added an extra point to my score since the last time I tasted the 2019 Bolgheri Rosso Camarcanda in order to underline the great potential of this vintage. This wine could legally be a Bolgheri Superiore, but Angelo Gaja prefers not to use qualifying wine terms such as Superiore, Classico or Riserva in his various wine projects spanning from Piedmont to Tuscany to Etna. Semantics aside, this is a gorgeous wine—one of the best made at Ca’ Marcanda for sure—with impressive intensity and balance. Dark fruit and blackberry are contrasted against spice, tobacco, grilled rosemary and Mediterranean bramble. The 2019 vintage saw favorable weather conditions and “just the right amount of rain,” Gaja says. (Monica Larner)
    SP9595 pts. - Wine Spectator - Sep 30, 2022
This verges on thick yet remains balanced and vibrant, courtesy of the lively acidity. Boasts blackberry, dark plum and blueberry flavors framed by tar and toasty oak. The finish is both dense and clean, with a hint of licorice. Excellent length and potential. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2024 through 2038. 1,500 cases made, 225 cases imported. (Bruce Sanderson)
    VN94+94+ pts. - Vinous - Jul 2022
The 2019 Camarcanda is a very good example of how much the wines have charged here. Medium in body with good depth, the 2019 Camarcanda is a tightly wound wine that is going to need a number of years to be at its best. Dark cherry, mocha, new leather, licorice and spice build nicely, with pretty floral and mineral accents that liven up the finish. The 2019 is classy, elegant and polished. Give it a few years, as the tannins are pretty intense today, but this softens nicely with air. (Antonio Galloni)

    2012 / 750 ml. | Item#40079

    RP94+94–96 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 29th Dec 2013
Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from clone 4 on rootstock 3309, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Unnamed tastes like a young Pontet Canet. Its dense purple color is followed by a classic bouquet of creme de cassis, cedarwood, spring flowers and a hint of white chocolate. Full-bodied with stunning fruit intensity and purity as well as a long finish, this was all accessed from the Missouri Hopper vineyard owned by the Beckstoffer Family. Like most 2012s, this wine will be drinkable young, but it has the depth and balance to age for 20 years.

  9. Caprili Brunello di Montalcino Riserva AdAlberto

    2015 / 750 ml. | Item#54343

    RP96+96+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Nov 2020
Tasted from an unfinished shiner bottle, the Caprili 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva AdAlberto is a single-vineyard expression that has drawn its fruit from the same site since 2010. The wine is dedicated to the paternal figure Alberto Bartolomei (grandfather to the current owners) who planted these vines in 1965. You can definitely taste the age and authentic character of those plants in the concentration and richness of the fruit, presented here with the abundance that only the 2015 vintage affords. The wine is smooth and enduring, and the tannins just need a few more years of bottle age. This is a small-production wine with just 4,000 bottles made.
    VN9595 pts. - Vinous - Nov 2020
The 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Ad Alberto Riserva from Caprili harnesses the ripeness of the vintage and melds it beautifully with savory earth tones. There are masses of dark florals and sweet herbs, as mineral-laced wild berry fruits come forward. With further coaxing notes of licorice, brown spice and baker’s chocolate evolve in the glass - does it ever end? It’s silky and pliant, providing an initial burst of ripe dark berries before giving way to a mix of sour citrus and fine tannins. Its structure is formidable, yet so are its primary fruits, coming across as perfectly balanced and full of potential.

    Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#60014

    JD98+98+ pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 12/21/2021
Pure, classic California notes of crème de cassis, spicy oak, chalky minerality, graphite, and spring flowers emerge from the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, a blend of 91% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Merlot that’s sourced from multiple mountain AVAs in the valley. Full-bodied and powerful on the palate, it has a deep, rich mid-palate, beautiful tannins, notable acidity, and a great, great finish. It’s another brilliant wine from Carpenter that can offer pleasure today yet also evolve for 20–25 years or more. (Jeb Dunnuck)
    JS9898 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Sunday, December 18, 2022
So much crushed lead pencil, tile and dried flowers, together with blackberries and brambleberries. Full-bodied with round, polished tannins. Layered and so delicious. Black olives and graphite at the end. This potpourri of Napa cabernet character takes your palate on a tour of so many of the regions, including all the mountains, such as Howell, Veeder and Spring Mountain, as well as Atlas Peak, Stags Leap, Yountville and St. Helena. Precision and polish to the wine. Drinkable now, but better to hold.
    RP9696 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st May 2022
The 2019 Cardinale is a blend of 91% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Merlot, with the Merlot from a particular block on Howell Mountain. Overall, it’s about 80% mountain fruit and 20% valley-floor fruit, according to winemaker Chris Carpenter. Cherries and cassis dominate the nose, while the full-bodied palate is rich and velvety, with a long, mouthwatering finish that adds barrel-derived notes of vanilla, powdered sugar and cedar. (Joe Czerwinski)
    SP9595 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 15, 2022
An inviting, fruit-driven style, with a gorgeous display of plum puree and blackberry confiture pumping along, flanked with licorice and apple wood and kept honest with a loamy accent through the finish. Dark, powerful and explosive, D’Alceo is one of the epic wines of 2015. Crème de cassis, plum, graphite, sage, lavender, and menthol rush out of the glass in a deep, beautifully resonant wine loaded with class. A wine with striking inner sweetness, depth and structure, the 2015 will thrill readers lucky enough to own it for a number of years to come. The 2015 was fermented in cement and then spent 14 months in oak. It is rich, sumptuous and simply irresistible.
    SP9696 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 31, 2020
Featuring concentrated flavors of blackberry, black currant, earth and leafy underbrush, this red is wrapped in a shroud of stiff tannins that upsets the balance a little. Nevertheless, this will come into its own with decanting, a little aging in bottle or paired with grilled steak or lamb. Delivers excellent intensity, energy and length. Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2029. 925 cases made, 150 cases imported.

    VN100100 pts. - Vinous - Sep 2021
The 2017 D’Alceo possesses mind-blowing intensity and pedigree to burn. Rich, ample and explosive, the 2017 is magnificently impressive right out of the gate. Lavender, rose petal, spice, kirsch, mint and violet lead into a core of inky dark blue/purplish berry fruit. Soft contours and suave, silky tannins give the 2017 so much immediacy, but there is plenty of cellaring potential too. In a word: epic.
    RP9595 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 7th Oct 2021
It’s not easy to wrap your head around the Castello dei Rampolla 2017 d’Alceo. The wine is exaggerated on almost every front, including its powerful tannins, shaped by a scorching hot and dry vintage that produced super concentrated fruit. I can’t say that this vintage is my style or that it delivers the extreme elegance and finesse that this estate at the heart of Panzano, one of the greatest growing sites in Italy, is capable of. However, there is a lot to be said about this blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with Petit Verdot. The wine opens to an almost impenetrable appearance with inky black hues and unruly intensity. The power of the bouquet is driven by the ripeness of the fruit and perhaps a positive pinch of volatile acidity (just the right amount for emphasis) that adds extra lift and punch to the overall effect. Syrupy blackberry segues to smoky tar and resin. We saw impactful tannins in the 2016 Sammarco, but the 2017 d’Alceo takes that astringency one step further. The 2017 will sure take many years to reach harmony, although I suspect that the tannic imprint is here to stay.
    WE9494 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 5/1/2022
Underbrush, scorched earth and leather aromas mingle with camphor and whiffs of blue flower on this full-bodied red. The savory palate is concentrated and tightly wound, offering spiced blueberry, ripe black plum and chewing tobacco alongside firm, close-grained tannins.

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#60726

    RP9898 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 9th Feb 2023
One of the stars of Italian enology, this iconic wine is Merlot in name but Tuscan in spirit. The L’Apparita is a gorgeous wine and one that brings an enormous sense of excitement and energy to those who drink it. Its texture is soft and rich, yet the tannins are gentle and round. There is plenty of substance and structure here, however, with seamless layers of black fruit, cherry, sweet spice and tobacco. The wine’s complexity is enhanced by elegant mineral tones and a subtle, menthol-like signature. Temperature control and careful pump-overs are executed, and great care is taken during harvest to avoid any overripe berries. Cool, calcareous soils with many stones serve to insulate the roots and lock in freshness. The secret of this wine is magic of site, exposure and geology. This is another collectors’ edition of L’Apparita. (Monica Larner)

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#51259

    RP9898 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 19th Sep 2019
The 2016 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigneto Bellavista sees fruit sourced from one of Castello di Ama’s most beautiful vineyards with a wide exposures and plenty of sunshine. This wine shows profound complexity and a far-reaching bouquet that evolves slowly in the glass. Of these three single-vineyard Gran Selezione wines (Bellavista, La Casuccia and San Lorenzo), the Vigneto Bellavista is the most complete, but it is also the most linear and streamlined in terms of mouthfeel. I would bet on putting this wine aside in your cellar for a longer aging time.
    VN9898 pts. - Vinous - Aug 2019
Ama’s 2016 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigneto Bellavista is a flat out stunner. Dark and brooding in its first impression, the 2016 races out of the glass with explosive vertical lift. This structured, potent Chianti Classico won’t be ready to drink anytime soon, but it is immensely promising. Savory herbs, crushed rocks, chalk and dried flowers add myriad layers of dimension. The 2016 is complex, nuanced and built for cellaring.

A glorious and racy red with ultra-fine tannins that are polished and very intense. It grows on the palate and delivers fabulous crushed raspberries, apple skins and wet earth. Lovely combination of ripeness and transparency. Drink in 2021, but wonderful to taste now if you decant it.

The elegant, structured palate delivers black plum, ripe black cherry, star anise and crushed mint while firm, polished tannins provide support and finesse. It’s well balanced, with bright acidity, while an earthy hint of game gives the finish depth. Drink 2023–2036.
