  1. Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

    2017 / 750 ml. | Item#57622

    JS9696 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, March 1, 2022
This is a big upgrade in finesse and clarity to such a popular, premium cabernet from Napa. It shows lots of blackberry, tar, cedar and oak-tree aromas that follow through to a full yet toned palate of fine, integrated tannins and a vivid finish. Owner David Duncan explained that the American oak they use in the wine for aging now comes 100% from their own barrel-making facilities, which tones down the vanilla character in the wine. Really impressive and delicious. It’s a joy to drink now, but can age. Drink or hold.

  2. Dunn Vineyards Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon

    2017 / 750 ml. | Item#55998

    VN9797 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2021
The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is sure to make Dunn fans happy. Powerful and ample, it marries the natural intensity of the year with the savoriness that makes Howell Mountain Cabernets so distinctive. Dark blue/purplish fruit, graphite, spice, leather, dried herbs and lavender imbue the 2017 with striking intensity and character. I can’t wait to see how it ages. The 2017 is a positively stunning edition of the Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon.
    SP9595 pts. - Wine Spectator - Aug 31, 2021
Fresh ripe cassis, blackberry and plum fruit flavors course through, carried by tar and apple wood notes that are well-embedded, giving this a muscular but sleek feel. Features a great tug of dark earth and licorice snap on the palate-staining finish. Best from 2023 through 2038. 2,700 cases made.

    SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - Aug 31, 2022
A ripe, lush style, with waves of warmed plum sauce, cassis, Christmas pudding and melted black licorice rolling through, inlaid with singed tobacco, menthol and loam hints along the way. For fans of the big style. Drink now through 2032. 9,680 cases made. (James Molesworth)
    JD9393 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 3/10/2022
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon offers more plum and cassis fruits as well as scorched earth, camphor, and chocolate aromatics. Rich, full-bodied, and mouth-filling, it has ripe, polished tannins, terrific overall balance, and a great finish. (Jeb Dunnuck)
    JS9292 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Thursday, November 4, 2021
Aromas of dark plums, dark chocolate, orange zest, sage and spice box. Full-bodied with chewy tannins. Rich, with fruity and dusty character and a firm finish. Better from 2023.
    RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st May 2022
A blend of fruit from Mount Veeder and the broader Napa Valley AVA, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is 100% Cab, matured 22 months in 85% new French oak. The wood lends plenty of cedary notes, but there’s also ample cassis, blackberry and plum. In the mouth, this is full-bodied and velvety, without being overly rich or concentrated, with dark chocolate nuances creeping in on the finish.

  4. Harris Estate Vineyards Casey’s Lakeview Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

    2013 / 750 ml. | Item#43584

    RP9595 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Dec 2015
The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Casey’s Lakeview is similarly inky bluish/purple to the rim. Tasting like blood, this wine is dense and rich with lots of chocolate, espresso, earth and spice. It is deep, full-bodied, and again, a masculine style of wine that needs at least 4–5 years of cellaring and should keep for 25 or more years.
    VN9494 pts. - Vinous - Oct 2015
Darker tonalities of fruit along with distinctly savory undertones are two of the signatures in the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Casey’s Lakeview Vineyard. Rich, ample and powerful, the Casey’s Lakeview offers notable richness to fill out its broad-shouldered frame. Hints of lavender and mint add nuance in a virile Cabernet Sauvignon that needs at least a few years to fully come together.

  5. Hourglass Blueline Estate Cabernet Sauvignon

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#56362

    RP95+95–97 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Jun 2021
A blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot, 3% Malbec and 2% Cabernet Franc, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Blueline Estate reveals an opaque purple-black color, exploding from the glass with bombastic scents of crème de cassis, blackberry pie and chocolate-covered cherries, plus hints of Indian spices, menthol and licorice, with a touch of sandalwood. Full-bodied, concentrated and impressively opulent, the palate features layer upon layer of exotic spices intertwined with black and blue fruits, velvety tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long, long, long.
    VN93+93–96 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2021
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Blueline is pure seduction. Racy and pliant, with terrific underlying structure, the 2019 is gorgeous today. Crème de cassis, lavender, cloves, mint and licorice add layers of nuance, but it is the wine’s forward, supple personality that carries the day. The 2019 is rich and deep, but not at all heavy.

  6. Outpost Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#57714

    JS9595 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, February 7, 2022
Wonderful spices with pine needles and dark fruit. Full-bodied and silky with fine-grained tannins and beautiful length. Attractive vanilla undertones, but not overstated. Compact and creamy. Tight at the end. Needs two or three years to open. Try after 2025, but already attractive.
    RP94+94–96+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 18th Mar 2021
Sporting a deep purple-black color, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon needs a little coaxing to begin, soon unfurling to reveal notions of crushed black cherries, wild blueberries and fresh blackcurrant, plus suggestions of tar, wet slate, fertile loam and black truffles. The medium to full-bodied palate is charged with wonderful energy, delivering loads of black fruit layers and a firm, grainy frame plus and lively backbone, finishing long and mineral laced. (Lisa Perrotti-Brown)
    JD9494 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 12/21/2021
As for the three Cabernet releases, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate has a medium to full-bodied, balanced, layered, and elegant style that just begs to be drunk. Giving up lots of blue fruits, bouquet garni, tobacco, and cedar, it will keep for 15–20 years if stored properly. (Jeb Dunnuck)
    SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - May 31, 2022
Packs in a lot of plum, boysenberry and blackberry compote flavors supported by a racy graphite underpinning, with showy anise, fruitcake and Christmas pudding notes filling in for dramatic effect. Best from 2023 through 2034. 1,719 cases made.

  7. Philip Togni Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

    2014 / 750 ml. | Item#44920

    VN9797 pts. - Vinous - Dec 2016
Togni’s 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is quite dark and powerful, but also very much medium in body. Graphite, smoke, savory herbs, mint, leather and a core of inky dark red and purplish fruit infuse this deep, beautifully layered Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2014 is a wine built on energy and aromatics that won’t hit its stride until at least age ten.
    RP94+94+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Dec 2016
The flagship wine, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate from his vineyard high on Spring Mountain is a blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. It seems slightly more approachable and civilized for a young Togni wine, with a dense ruby/purple color, loads of blackcurrant, licorice, and graphite, some earth and spice, but very subtle earth nuances. It is full-bodied and rich, but the tannins are well-integrated and don’t scream as loudly as some vintages of Togni can. For Togni, this is probably one of his more forward and precociously styled Cabernets. It will probably approach drinkability in several years, but don’t discount its aging potential, as this easily has 20–25 years of cellaring potential.

  8. Beringer Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

    2017 / 750 ml. | Item#59837

    JS9898 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, November 30, 2020
This shows really beautiful purity of fruit with polish and sophistication. The currant and cassis aromas are so enticing and really reflect the name of the wine. Medium to full body. Extremely fine tannins. Shows a level of freshness and agility that caresses the palate. Delicate and beautiful. Mostly Howell Mountain. Drink or hold.
    JD9696 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 1/31/2020
The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve is brilliant, with a ripe, powerful style that’s going to age gracefully. Deep blackcurrants, dark chocolate, scorched earth, and graphite notes all emerge from this concentrated, powerful Cabernet that has ripe tannins, a big, rich mid-palate, and a great finish. It’s going to benefit from 3–5 years of bottle age and keep for upwards of two decades with no issues. (Jeb Dunnuck)
    WE9595 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 3/1/2021
Thick and concentrated in dense layers of cedar, pencil shaving and currant, this reserve-worthy wine is substantial in body wight and power, with considerable oak impact, as it was aged 20 months in 80% new French oak. Still, it shows remarkable underlying beauty, complexity and structure. It is a blockbuster that will do well in the cellar. Enjoy best from 2027 through 2037. (Virginie Boone)
    RP9494 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 13th Aug 2020
Composed of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc, the deep garnet-purple colored 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve springs from the glass with notions of red and black currant jelly, baker’s chocolate, menthol and spice cake plus hints of violets, cedar and kirsch in the undercurrent. Medium to full-bodied, the palate reveals a firm, finely grained texture with tons of freshness backing up the generous fruit, finishing long and perfumed. 9,644 cases were made. (Lisa Perrotti-Brown)
    VN9494 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2020
Beringer’s flagship Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve is very pretty in 2017. Sweet red cherry, red plum, mint, licorice and floral notes all grace this super-expressive and inviting Private Reserve. As always, the Private Reserve is a blend from a number of the sites Beringer works with, based on a core of Howell Mountain vineyards. (Antonio Galloni)
    SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 15, 2020
Plush and forward, with creamed plum and blackberry puree flavors, carried by cocoa and warm loam notes. Everything knits nicely through the finish. A crowd-pleaser style. Drink now through 2029. 9,644 cases made. (James Molesworth)

    2017 / 750 ml. | Item#53143

    RP9595 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Oct 2019
Two percent of the Malbec in the blend this year comes from the 2018 vintage. Very deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Mt. Veeder bursts out of the glass with vivacious black currants, black cherries and wild blueberries notes with touches of dark chocolate, licorice, violets and cloves. Full-bodied, firm and very finely grained in terms of texture, the palate explodes with fruit and freshness, finishing very long and wonderfully fragrant. Impressive! 2,807 cases produced.
    SP9595 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 15, 2020
This offers blackberry, boysenberry and açaí berry compote flavors that sparkle with anise, sassafras and sage accents. Shows serious tarry grip, but that recedes into the fruit as this airs in the glass, leaving embers of singed juniper and alder at the very end. Best from 2023 through 2040. 2,700 cases made.
    JD93+93+ pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - January 31, 2020
The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is a richer, broader, more concentrated wine, yet it also has a serious amount of tannins. Lots of dark chocolate, blackcurrant, forest floor, and espresso notes all emerge from this full-bodied, concentrated, impressive effort that’s going to benefit from 4–5 years of bottle age and have 20+ years of longevity. The blend is 94% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% each of Malbec, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. (Jeb Dunnuck)

Enticing, with the frankly ripe profile of the vintage showing off in a display of slightly exotic plum and blackberry coulis flavors, while dark licorice, menthol and sassafras notes course through. Sweet spice accents sparkle through the finish, revealing a lingering hint of singed juniper. The long finish features rippling acidity. Best from 2022 through 2038. 2,300 cases made.

    State Lane Vineyard
    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#56868

    JD9595 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 1/27/2021
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Cuvée, which includes a splash of Merlot (3%), shines for its beautiful elegance and purity, with lots of blue fruits, violets, orange blossom, and lead pencil aromas and flavors. Tasting like a mini Grand Vin, it’s full-bodied, with ripe, present tannins, and certainly has the classic, noble style that’s the hallmark of this estate. (Jeb Dunnuck)
    VN9494 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2021
The 2018 Estate Cuvée is silky and supremely elegant right from the very first taste. Readers will have a hard time keeping their hands off this jewel of a wine. Soaring Cabernet aromatics meld into a core of inky red/purplish berry fruit, with hints of spice, sweet tobacco and cedar. Simply put, the Estate Cuvée is a total knock-out.
    RP9393 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 5th Nov 2020
Composed of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Merlot, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Cuvée is deep garnet-purple colored. It was aged in 55% new French oak, 18% new Hungarian oak and 27% second fill French oak. Deep garnet-purple colored, it explodes from the glass with bombastic black currants, black cherries and boysenberries notes plus underlying hints of violets, dark chocolate and tobacco leaf. JS9696 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, April 6, 2021
Aromas of pine needles, asphalt, graphite and black fruit follow through to a full-bodied and chewy palate with so much tannin, giving this real Howell Mountain character. It goes on and one. Muscular and in need of time in the bottle to soften. Better after 2024.
    VN95+95+ pts. - Vinous - Jan 2021
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon is a powerful, tightly wound wine that captures all the natural intensity of Howell Mountain. Blackberry jam, graphite, smoke ,iron and crushed rocks give this dark, massively tannic Cabernet a lot of character. Even after having been opened for several hours, the 2018 remains forbidding, with serious tannins that are going to require a good bit of cellaring before the wine becomes approachable.

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#57351

    JD9999 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 12/21/2021
First made in 2009 (the first vintage of Maybach was in 2004), the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Amoenus offers an incredible, full-bodied, pure, seamless style, and I suspect this is the finest vintage of this cuvée ever made. Gorgeous red and black fruits, toasted spice, brioche, violets, and flowers are just some of the nuances here, and it’s one of those wines that brings massive richness and depth while staying pure, seamless, and as graceful as they come. Don’t miss it! (Jeb Dunnuck)
    RP96+96–98 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 18th Mar 2021
A barrel sample, the 2019 Amoenus Cabernet Sauvignon displays a medium to deep garnet-purple color, leaping from the glass with vibrant scents of redcurrant jelly, black cherry compote, cassis and mulberries, plus suggestions of wild sage, black olives and damp soil. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers a wonderfully plush texture with bags of black and red berry preserves layers and just enough freshness, finishing long and earthy.

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#60032

    JS9696 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Thursday, April 7, 2022
Blackberries and black currants with grape skin, lead pencil and pine cone. Full-bodied with round tannins and juicy fruit. Tamed tannins. Bright finish. Classy and authentic. Beautiful now, but will age beautifully.
    RP9494 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st May 2022
The only one of the Mt Brave wines that isn’t 100% varietal, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Mt. Veeder includes 4% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot and 1% Malbec. Offering hints of sage and lavender entwined among waves of cassis, this full-bodied wine may not be as broad or expansive in the mouth as the La Jota, but it also might be a touch juicier and longer on the finish. (Joe Czerwinski)
    SP9494 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 31, 2022
Very dark and winey in profile, with steeped plum, blackberry and boysenberry fruit flavors laced with licorice snap, bramble and apple wood. A tarry note underscores the finish, while the fruit drips. A big wine balanced by inner purity. Best from 2024 through 2038. 7,699 cases made. (James Molesworth)
