JS9494 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Thursday, November 4, 2021 Perfumed aromas of black fruit, graphite, violets, pine cones and sandalwood. It’s full-bodied with firm, polished tannins. Structured and rich with a chalky texture. Deliciously layered and concentrated with a long, flavorful finish. A blend 49% carignan, 22% malbec, 15% cabernet sauvignon and 14% syrah. From organically grown grapes. Vegan. Drink or hold.VN9292 pts. - Vinous - May 2021 The 2015 Aliara is a blend of 46% Carignan, 33% Malbec, 17% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Syrah from Cauquenes, Maule, aged for up to 22 months in French oak. Garnet-red in the glass. The nose of cigar box, black currant and layers of jam and chocolate comes encased in woody flavors. Fine-grained tannins and juicy freshness dominate in the mouth, while the oak returns at the end. Cleansing and flavorsome, this is a serious, expressive wine. (Joaquín Hidalgo)
WE8686 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 4/1/2022 This rustic, full-bodied wine exudes earthy, smoky, slightly funky aromas and potent blackberry flavors that are heavily accented with black pepper and earth notes. No added sulfites. (Jim Gordon)
JS9292 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, November 8, 2022 White pears, biscuits, barley, lemons and apricot stones on the nose. Crisp and dry with fine bubbles and a medium body. Nicely linear and focused. 76% pinot noir and 24% chardonnay. From organically and biodynamically grown grapes. Drink now.
RP92+92+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Sep 2022 The very pale salmon/onion-skin colored 2020 De Nit is a blend of 44% Xarel.lo, 39% Macabeo, 12% Parellada and 5% Monastrell, which is closer to a white. It has energy, good ripeness and some natural concentration from the vintage, with weight and clout keeping the balance and freshness, and some very small bubbles after no less than 18 months in bottle with lees. All the wines are very expressive; they have bubbles that provide texture and lift the wine up. This is serious, dry but adjusted to different levels depending on the year, a bit more complex than the Blanc de Blancs. They produce a fair amount of this: 200,000 bottles and some other larger and smaller formats. (Luis Gutiérrez)
VN94+94+ pts. - Vinous - Jan 2023 The 2021 Geyserville hits the palate with a burst of dark red/purplish fruit, sweet spice, lavender, chocolate, dried herbs and American oak. I would be in no rush to open the 2021, as it is clearly an infant at this stage. The blend is 76% Zinfandel, 16% Carignane, 6% Petite Syrah and 2% Alicante Bouschet. The 2021 is a powerhouse, that much is pretty clear. (Antonio Galloni)SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2023 Tightly focused and briary, this blend offers density without weight. Presents plum and blueberry flavors accented by dill and green peppercorn as this builds tension toward medium-grained tannins. Zinfandel, Carignane, Petite Sirah and Alicante Bouschet. Drink now through 2032. 9,000 cases made. (Tim Fish)
JD100100 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 8/29/2020 Pure perfection, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Monte Bello is a sensational effort from this estate that should be snatched up by drinkers and collectors. Based on 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot, and the rest Cabernet Franc that was brought up mostly in new American oak, this saturated purple-hued beauty is legendary Monte Bello in the making and has a stunning yet primordial bouquet of crème de cassis, lead pencil shavings, graphite, chocolate, and chalky minerality. Full-bodied, incredibly powerful, and one of the most concentrated versions of this cuvée ever made (I’ve had most of them), it needs a solid decade of bottle age and will have 50–60 years of overall longevity. Despite the long drinking window, it offers plenty of pleasure even today. I followed this bottle for two days and it showed best right out of the gate, closing down and becoming more brooding and backward with air. It’s an incredible wine that I promise you won’t regret having in your cellar. (Jeb Dunnuck)RP9898 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 4th Apr 2021 The 2017 Monte Bello is ultra powerful and concentrated, unfurling over the several days it was open to reveal rich cassis, roast plums, tar, aniseed and exotic spices. What sets the palate apart is its purity: though incredibly layered, it offers a kaleidoscopic journey from blackcurrant to tobacco and dried flowers, offering continual sparks of flavor long after the wine has been swallowed. Structurally, it has the firm but ripe tannins and seamless freshness to dictate a very long life in the cellar. This vintage is a blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot and 4% Cabernet Franc. 3,750 cases produced.
VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Jul 2022 The 2020 Chianti Classico is striking. Bright, punchy and vibrant, the 2020 possesses terrific energy from start to finish. Sweet red-fleshed fruit, cedar, blood orange, spice and incense are front and center. The 2020 screams with character. Once again, Marco Ricasoli-Firidolfi has crafted an exceptional Chianti Classico that punches well above its weight. (Antonio Galloni)

RP9797 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Oct 2019 Made of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is deep garnet-purple in color and prances out of the glass with vivacious blackberries, crushed black cherries, warm black currants and red currant jelly scents plus exotic hints of cassia, cardamom, fenugreek and star anise with a waft of underbrush. Medium-bodied, the palate has fantastic energy and beautiful poise, with bags of bright, crunchy black and red fruit plus a firm, fine-grained texture, finishing long and spicy.VN9696 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2020 Spottswoode’s 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon has been simply tremendous on both occasions I have tasted it so far. Sweet red cherry, red plum, flowers and mint give the 2017 striking freshness to complement its decidedly mid-weight structure. The intense heat of the vintage caused ripening to slow down and yielded a wine with just 13.7% alcohol, which is low for both the estate and Napa Valley in general. Spottswoode was one of the first estates in the valley to adopt a more moderate approach to farming and that really paid off in 2017, as a wine of this level in that year could have only resulted from impeccable farming. In a word: magnificent!JD9696 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - January 31, 2020 Looking at the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate, which was bottled two months prior to my tasting, it too has a Château Margaux-like complexity and elegance, with beautiful notes of crème de cassis, sandalwood, dried flowers, tobacco leaf, and lead pencil. Harvested all pre-fire, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, silky tannins, and remarkable purity, all making for a quintessential Spottswoode that’s going to benefit from 3–5 years of bottle age and keep for 20+ years. (Jeb Dunnuck)SP9595 pts. - Wine Spectator - Jul 22, 2020 Features a sleek and racy edge, with damson plum, bitter cherry and black currant fruit working together, revealing pinpoints of savory, sage and iron scattered throughout. The mouthwatering finish shows the vintage’s slightly brambly grip, but with superior integration and energy to most of its peers. Best from 2022 through 2038. 4,019 cases made.
