Shop for Italian Wines

While the woven basket that surrounds that bottle of Chianti is iconic, it is by no means the only Italian wine worth having with pasta and meatballs. Italian wines are excellent because their low acidity and lush body increase the ease with which they pair with any kind of food. The general rule is that any meal with a red sauce can match with an Italian red wine, but Italian white wines also make excellent pairings with chicken, fish, and even pizza.

Italy boasts some of the world's oldest vineyards, as well as some of the most dignified and respected estates in the wine world. Whether you're shopping for a bright, juicy Montepulciano to drink with pizza or a refined, aged Barolo for a five-star night, WineMadeEasy.com is your source for Italian wine at great prices.

  3. Dei Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva Bossona

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#58745

    VN9595 pts. - Vinous - Dec 2021
The 2016 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva Bossona is deeply alluring yet still needs to unwind a bit more. It’s dark in nature yet floral, with ripe black cherries, balsam herbs, hints of cacao and smoke. This enters the palate soft and silky, energized by brilliant acidity, with candied ginger giving way to red currants and finally, a coating of fine tannin toward the close. Both savory and sweet, this tapers off with a herbal and floral thrust and a twang of salted licorice. Brava; what a beauty. The Riserva Bossona is 100% Sangiovese refined for two years in tonneaux, followed by another year in cask. (Eric Guido)

What catches your attention immediately here is the freshness to the fruit. Cherry, plum and orange-peel provide brightness to the wine from the start. Then, it’s full-bodied with a well-placed balance of fruit and oak tannin that will guarantee a long life to this riserva. However, it’s delicious even now.
    WE9292 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 5/1/2022
Aromas of camphor, coffee bean and coconut mingle with whiffs of violet. Full-bodied and enveloping, the palate features dried cherry, licorice and tobacco framed in tightly knit, close-grained tannins. Drink 2024–2029. (Kerin O’Keefe)

  4. Poliziano Rosso di Montepulciano

    2021 / 750 ml. | Item#59818

    VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2023
Wickedly fresh and floral, the 2021 Rosso di Montepulciano wafts up from the glass with a bouquet of wild strawberries, stems and all, plus touches of mint and blood orange. This steps softly yet with impact, impressing with fleshy red and blue fruits expertly offset by a salty core of minerality. Raspberry and blueberry preserves and rosy inner florals make the lightly tannic and medium-length finish a total pleasure. This is a beautiful blending of 80% Sangiovese and 20% Merlot. (Eric Guido)

  8. Ceretto Barbaresco Asili

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#55836

    VN95+95+ pts. - Vinous - Feb 2019
Ceretto’s 2016 Barbaresco Asili is another stunningly beautiful wine from Ceretto. Here, too, the wine’s energy and tension are simply dazzling. Bright red cherry fruit and floral overtones abound in this taut, crystalline Barbaresco. Readers will have to be patient with the 2016, but it is a jewel of a wine. Deceptively in its mid-weight structure, the 2016 packs a serious punch and really sizzles with vibrancy.

  10. Elio Grasso Barolo Ginestra Casa Maté

    2017 / 750 ml. | Item#54390

    JD9797 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 5/27/2021
The 2017 Barolo Ginestra Casa Mate has a slightly darker profile of licorice, black cherry, and wood spice. The palate is generous and structured, with plum pit, mineral-rich earth, and dried orange blossom. These are wines with incredible aromatic complexity and depth. Drink 2025–2050. (Jeb Dunnuck)
    VN9696 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2021
The 2017 Barolo Ginestra Casa Matè is a dark, mysterious wine. Black cherry, menthol, tobacco, licorice, spice, new leather and pine meld together in a super-classic expression of Ginestra. Deep, rich and enveloping, the 2017 is so impressive in the early going. Here, too, the finesse of the tannins is remarkable.
    RP9595 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 17th Jun 2021
Soils in the Ginestra vineyard show more moisture-retaining clay in their composition, making them better positioned to handle hot and dry vintages such as this. The Elio Grasso 2017 Barolo Ginestra Casa Maté reveals soft concentration and extra richness; however, the aromatic nuances are well intact. I recall that the previous 2016 vintage took longer to come into focus, whereas this 2017 expression is open-knit and immediately accessible. The fruit is front and center, and the wine slides over the palate with a silky texture. Managing the tannins in 2017 was not easy, but this wine proves that lasting balance is not out of reach.

    2021 / 750 ml. | Item#59119

    RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 22nd Jun 2023
Made with mostly Sangiovese and smaller percentages of Malvasia Nera, Cabernet Sauvignon, Montepulciano, Marselan and Alicante Bouschet, the 2021 A Quo offers intense fragrances that span from blackberry to dark rose—like one of those deep purple blooms you might see at a specialized florist. It is densely textured with a solid structure. A Quo is a wine of exceptional value, with 73,000 bottles on the market. (Monica Larner)

    RP9191 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 22nd Jun 2023
The organic Arianna Occhipinti 2020 Sicilia Nero d’Avola Siccagno offers a pretty medley of cherry, dark fruit and a touch of clove. The wine shows background hints of cola, black olive and baked plum. There is a lot of lifted fruit in this wine that leads to a punchy, lively style overall. It is fluid in personality but also lean in texture. (Monica Larner)
