While the woven basket that surrounds that bottle of Chianti is iconic, it is by no means the only Italian wine worth having with pasta and meatballs. Italian wines are excellent because their low acidity and lush body increase the ease with which they pair with any kind of food. The general rule is that any meal with a red sauce can match with an Italian red wine, but Italian white wines also make excellent pairings with chicken, fish, and even pizza.
Italy boasts some of the world's oldest vineyards, as well as some of the most dignified and respected estates in the wine world. Whether you're shopping for a bright, juicy Montepulciano to drink with pizza or a refined, aged Barolo for a five-star night, WineMadeEasy.com is your source for Italian wine at great prices.

(Kerin O’Keefe)JS9191 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Thursday, November 4, 2021 A well-defined and typical Chianti Rufina with aromas and flavors of berries and cherries, as well as darker, savory notes of bark and dried herbs. Medium body and grainy tannins that have a dusty-oak coating that absorbs the fruit flavors nicely and gives a long, firm and a slightly bitter, licoricy finish. From organically grown grapes. Drinkable now, but will be better integrated in 2023.Premier SelectPremier Select wines are handpicked by our staff from amongst thousands of wines for their exceptional quality. WE9191 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 9/1/2022 Delicately scented, this offers aromas suggesting spring blossom and white stone fruit. Made with organic grapes, the linear, savory palate offers juicy white peach, ripe yellow pear and fennel seed alongside tangy acidity that gives it a clean finish. (Kerin O’Keefe)
VN8989 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2023 The 2021 Chianti Biskero bursts from the glass with a fruit-forward mix of raspberry, black cherries and autumnal spice. This is plush in feel; vibrant acidity and ripe red berry fruits create an energetic and jovial expression. It leaves just a touch of sweet tannins while tapering off long yet playful in style. This may be a no-frills style of Chianti, but it’s also full of character. The Biskero is a blend of 85% Sangiovese, 5% Mammolo, 5% Canaiolo and 5% Merlot. (Eric Guido)
JS9393 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, July 4, 2022 Black-cherry and orange-peel aromas and flavors. Some lead pencil and slate, too. It’s medium-bodied with fine tannins and firm acidity, which adds verve and tension to the wine. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Jul 2022 The 2020 Chianti Classico is bright, elegant, and wonderfully translucent, with lovely red fruit character and all the elegance of Radda coming through nicely. Mint, blood orange, pipe tobacco, and spice linger on the brilliant, delineated finish. (Antonio Galloni)
VN92+92+ pts. - Vinous - May 2023 A burst of sour melon and crushed rocks gives way to green apples and fresh mint as the captivating 2022 Rosato blossoms in the glass. This blends vibrant acidity with zesty mineral tones and sweet spice to create a truly harmonious and high-energy vibe on the palate. Nothing is out of place as the 2022 finishes with a tinge of crisp minerality, leaving the mouth watering as gingery spice hints fade. This is stunning today, yet it may get even better over the coming months in bottle. (Eric Guido)SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2023 Intense and bone-dry, this rosé is saturated with creamy cherry, strawberry and East Indian spice flavors. Firmly structured and extends on the fruit-filled aftertaste. Drink now. (Bruce Sanderson)
VN8989 pts. - Vinous - May 2023 The 2022 Rosato Etna is understated and delicate, with dried strawberry and dusty florals forming its bouquet. This shows a pretty inner sweetness up front that gives way to crisp orchard fruits and spice. It finishes a bit dry, yet clean, with a saline-tinge that slowly tapers off. (Eric Guido)
VN9191 pts. - Vinous - May 2023 The 2022 Rosé Nerello Mascalese di Adele opens with a pleasantly sweet bouquet that blends green melon with gingery spice and candied citrus. It washes across the palate with its silken textures, neatly contrasted by mineral-tinged fruits and brisk acidity. The 2022 tapers off crunchy and wildly fresh, leaving behind a hint of lemon oil. (Eric Guido)
VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Jun 2022 In a cloud of crushed violet candies, sugar-dusted currants and hints of sage evolve, making the 2020 Nero d’Avola Lagnusa a total aromatic pleasure. Soft-textured and round, this impresses further with ripe red and blue-toned fruits, complemented by sweet spice over a core of vibrant acidity. The Lagnusa finishes remarkably fresh yet long, leaving the mouth watering while still resonating on hints of blackberry and a bitter twang of sour citrus. (Eric Guido)SP9191 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 15, 2022 Delivers wild strawberry, raspberry and red licorice notes that are expressive and juicy, with tea rose, thyme and tar notes and bright orange peel acidity. Long and creamy on the palate, with fine, chalky tannins. Drink now through 2030. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. (Alison Napjus)
VN9494 pts. - Vinous - Dec 2022 The 2021 Dogliani Papà Celso is packed with the essence of blueberry jam, incense, licorice, tobacco, chocolate and scorched earth. Inky and opulent to the core, the 2021 is once again one of the most heady, exotic wines in Dogliani, a true original. Give the potent tannins a year or two to soften. (Antonio Galloni)
VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Apr 2022 The 2021 Soave Classico is remarkably pretty with yellow flowers, wet stone and freshly sliced pear. This is mineral and focused upon entry, with perfumed orchard fruits and a salty flourish that returns toward the close. Pear and peach skins resonate, as this tapers off lightly structured with an almost-herbal tea-like quality. The Classico is a blend of some of the region’s top vineyards with an average vine age of 90 years. (Eric Guido)SP9191 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2023 A well-cut, minerally Soave, with a tropical edge of passion fruit and dried pineapple, a base note of petrol and aromas and flavors of poached apricot, orchard blossoms and grated ginger. Drink now through 2028. 9,000 cases made, 500 cases imported. (Alison Napjus)
VN9797 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2020 The 2016 Barolo Campè is superb. Dark, potent and powerful, the 2016 possesses tremendous intensity to match its dark, virile personality. More than anything else, in 2016 the Campè offers a captivating interplay of fruit and structure. The 2016 is not a shy wine; rather it is rich and hedonistic to the core, while maintaining a striking sense of translucence. Black cherry, chocolate, espresso, licorice and clove all build into the huge finish. In a word: Superb. In 2016 Giorgio Rivetti and his team made a Barolo with a sense of classicism I have never seen before to this degree in a La Spinetta wine.RP9696 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 23rd Jul 2020 The Campè vineyard is above Garretti in Grinzane Cavour. La Spinetta’s 2016 Barolo Campè Vürsù draws its fruit from the upper part of the vineyard where the topsoils are shallow and the vines are oldest, aged 70+ years. Fruit comes from a three-hectare site with beautiful southern exposures. This beautiful wine opens to a velvety and dark appearance with dark garnet highlights. To the nose, it produces dark primary fruit with dried blackberry and plum, but you also get savory notes of spice, tar and dried licorice root. The wine shows a firm backbone, but the tannins are nicely tucked into the greater fiber and power of the mouthfeel. Production is 9,000 bottles.JS9696 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Thursday, November 7, 2019 As always, this shows loads of dried flowers and dried peaches and persimmons; it’s a ripe and unique wine. A cascade of tannins follows, enveloping the mouth in chewy sensations from top to bottom, flanked in dried-berry flavors. Full-bodied and dense, but agile and inviting. Drink from 2026.
