While the woven basket that surrounds that bottle of Chianti is iconic, it is by no means the only Italian wine worth having with pasta and meatballs. Italian wines are excellent because their low acidity and lush body increase the ease with which they pair with any kind of food. The general rule is that any meal with a red sauce can match with an Italian red wine, but Italian white wines also make excellent pairings with chicken, fish, and even pizza.

Italy boasts some of the world's oldest vineyards, as well as some of the most dignified and respected estates in the wine world. Whether you're shopping for a bright, juicy Montepulciano to drink with pizza or a refined, aged Barolo for a five-star night, WineMadeEasy.com is your source for Italian wine at great prices.

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#60782

    JS9393 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, September 6, 2022
Ripe and crunchy blueberries and plums here, together with hints of chocolate, bark and walnuts. Medium-to full-bodied with a fine, chalky tannin structure and vivid acidity. Rich and intense, with delicious dark-fruit character and notes of wet leaves and spices to close. Drink or hold. (James Suckling)

  5. Castello di Ama San Lorenzo

    Chianti Classico Gran Selezione
    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#59248

    RP94+94+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 7th Oct 2021
The Castello di Ama 2018 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione San Lorenzo is one of the most distinctive wines in the ample portfolio offered by this estate. I always seem to find a balsamic note in the San Lorenzo Sangiovese (a blend of some of the property’s best fruit, with a touch of Merlot and Malvasia Nera thrown in), and it definitely comes through in this vintage with grilled rosemary and even a touch of black olive. This wine is truly Mediterranean in spirit and it boasts an all-Italian identity. Its supple, mid-weight texture is amplified by elegant fruit and spice. And the wine’s fresh acidity makes it the ideal pairing partner with your favorite Tuscan pasta or pici recipes. (Monica Larner)
    VN9494 pts. - Vinous - Sep 2021
The 2018 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Castello di Ama San Lorenzo is a deep, potent wine. Black cherry, gravel, smoke, licorice, chocolate, spice infuse the San Lorenzo with tons of dark Sangiovese character. A heady, muscular wine, the 2019 exudes tremendous richness. I would give it a few years. The 2018 is a wine of aromatic intrigue and intensity. (Antonio Galloni)

  7. Podere Poggio Scalette Il Carbonaione

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#56146

    VN9696 pts. - Vinous - Sep 2021
The 2018 Il Carbonaione is one of the most elegant editions of this flagship wine I can remember tasting. Il Carbonaione is usually a rich, bombastic wine, but the 2018 is sleek, gracious and remarkably refined. The fruit was picked a week later than originally planned because of a family emergency. That results in an exotic Carbonaione that is beguiling but not at all heavy. I can’t wait to see how it ages.

  8. Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#57672

    JD9595 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 5/4/2023
No crus were produced in 2018. The 2018 Barbaresco is aromatically expressive, with a perfumed and mineral character, with rocky earth. It has medium body, good concentration, and plenty of fruit and mineral earth that drive through the finish. An outstanding value, drink 2025–2045. (Audrey Frick)
    RP9393 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 23rd Jun 2022
Packaged in its distinctive brown paper label, the Produttori del Barbaresco 2018 Barbaresco is a beautifully lean and luminous expression of Nebbiolo, and that pretty color should remain intact over time. The aromas are bold and ripe with dark and purple fruit, but the bouquet shows interesting twists with earth, truffle, licorice and grilled herb. As the wine opens in the glass, you begin to notice heavier aromas of raisin and dried apricot. It wears a warm-vintage signature for sure, and for that reason, I would suggest a shorter drinking window for the 2018. With an ample 300,000 bottles made, you get a great value with this bottle. (Monica Larner)
    JS9393 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, January 3, 2022
Lovely barbaresco, with all the typical nebbiolo characteristics, such as red berries, mushrooms and dried leaves, as well as hints of bitter orange peel and spice. All this follows through to the medium-to full-bodied palate, where fine, lightly firm tannins add a little grip and additional focus. Compact, but bursting with flavor. Delicious now, but give it a year or two. It will only get better.
    VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2022
The 2018 Barbaresco is an attractive, open-knit wine to drink now and over the next 10–15 years, maybe more. In 2018 the Produttori did not bottle their Riservas. Instead, all of the best lots of those grapes went into the straight Barbaresco bottling, another in a long string of successes from this historic house. Dark cherry, cedar, tobacco and spice fill out the layers. There is good depth and a good deal of tannin too, just not the complexity or nuance of the very best years.

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#59661

    SP9595 pts. - Wine Spectator - Jun 30, 2023
A sculpted red, with hints of tea rose, dried thyme and spices accenting a core of baked raspberry and blackberry fruit, espresso, licorice and minerally iron and smoke. Featuring firm, lightly chewy tannins, this fresh and tightly meshed version opens nicely in the glass -- sip slowly or decant ahead of time. Best from 2024 through 2034. 2,083 cases made, 300 cases imported. (Alison Napjus)
    VN9494 pts. - Vinous - Mar 2022
The 2018 Sfursat 5 Stelle is compelling. Macerated dark cherry, leather, herbs and baking spices are nicely pushed forward. Impeccable in its balance and overall harmony, the 2018 looks to offer fine drinking over the near and medium term. It is another terrific wine from Negri that points to a bright future. 10. Fèlsina Rància Chianti Classico Riserva

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#56114

    VN9797 pts. - Vinous - Sep 2021
The 2018 Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia is an absolutely stunning wine. The archetype of Rancia in the past has been of a big, potent Chianti Classico but in 2018, Rancia is a wine of mind-blowing elegance and finesse. Silky, perfumed and indescribably finessed, the 2018 dazzles from start to finish. It’s a magical wine in every way.
    RP9595 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 7th Oct 2021
The 2018 is an unusual vintage that shows an especially austere character. Off the bat, it must be said that the Fèlsina 2018 Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia would certainly benefit from more cellar time and a long drinking window. The Rancia is elegant and streamlined with a medium-bodied style that breaks from some of the more concentrated vintages we’ve seen in the past. The bouquet reveals a lot of dark or black character with blackcurrant, tar, resin, iron ore and a dusty hint of dry graham cracker (which reminds us of the vintage heat). Structurally, the wine offers a solid and firm footing, but it would benefit from further evolution.
    JS9595 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Wednesday, August 11, 2021
This is really subtle and complex with cherry, herb, floral and sage aromas that follow through to a full body with firm, fine tannins that give form and energy to the wine. Racy and very fine. Drink or hold.

  11. Tenuta delle Terre Nere Feudo di Mezzo Etna Rosso

    Il Quadro delle Rose
    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#52815

    WE9494 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 10/1/2020
Graphite, thyme, brambly berry and violet aromas waft out of the glass along with Mediterranean scrub. Boasting youthful tension, the chiseled palate delivers succulent Marasca cherry, crushed raspberry, licorice and coffee bean set against elegant, fine-grained tannins. Bright acidity keeps it balanced while a hint of saline lingers on the close. Drink through 2033.
    VN9393 pts. - Vinous - Jun 2021
The 2018 Etna Rosso Feudo di Mezzo is dark and rich in the glass, wafting up with notes of cherry sauce, plums and Indian spice. It is deeply textural and velvety in feel, with ripe black instead of red notes, lifted by cooling mineral and minty herbs. There’s an almost balsamic twang to the finish, as this leaves the palate drenched in primary fruit and grippy tannins. The Feudo di Mezzo is a bit of a bruiser in 2018, yet a few years of cellaring should help bring it into focus.

  12. Tolaini Legit Cabernet Sauvignon

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#56678

    SP9494 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 31, 2021
Well-defined black cherry and blackberry flavors are shaded by notes of rosemary, eucalyptus, iron and tobacco in this firm and complex red, which shows lovely balance and grip on the lingering aftertaste. Best from 2023 through 2036. 10,000 cases made, 8,000 cases imported.
    VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Jul 2022
The 2018 Legit is a bold, punchy wine that marries varietal aromas and flavors with Castelnuovo Berardenga richness. It’s a combination that works quite well. Blue/black fruit, gravel, spice, dried herbs, lavender and chocolate are front and center in this juicy, open-knit Cabernet Sauvignon. (Antonio Galloni)

  13. Le Chiuse Brunello di Montalcino

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#59909

    RP9494 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 9th Mar 2023
Released in numbered bottles, the Le Chiuse 2018 Brunello di Montalcino (a certified organic wine with fruit sourced from across six hectares) shows punchy and bright aromas that recall dried grape skins or fermentation aromas. It suggests an open or immediate personality. There is a pleasant rawness or authenticity presented here with black cherry, plum, blue flower, cola and rusty nail. This is a true expression from a warm vintage that delivers mid-weight texture and well-managed tannins. It concludes with a hint of sweet cherry liqueur. I tasted number 192 of 18,300 bottles produced. (Monica Larner)
    VN9393 pts. - Vinous - Dec 2022
The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino is youthfully coy and a bit reductive at first. Swirling brings about nuances of dusty rose, dried cherries, flowery underbrush and hints of animal musk. It glides across the palate with finesse, impressing more on its purity of fruit, petty inner florals and delicate nature than power. The 2018 finishes with medium length, showing sweet inner herbal tones, a twang of sour citrus and a gentle tug of fine tannin. This is such an understated beauty. (Eric Guido)
