JS8787 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Wednesday, August 17, 2022 Earthy elements here, with aromas of cooked lemons, pears and sage. Medium-bodied with tangy acidity and cooked-citrus character. Drink now. (James Suckling)
VN8787 pts. - Vinous - Jun 2022 The 2020 Nero d’Avola is dark with exotic spices, masses of black raspberry and a contrasting hint of mint that forms its bouquet. This is a fruit-forward and juicy effort, yet balance is nicely maintained through cooling acidity and a trace of sour citrus. It finishes fresh with hints of licorice and inner rose tones that linger. As entry-level Nero d’Avola goes, this is an excellent value.
JS9191 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Wednesday, August 17, 2022 Fresh peach, melon, lemon and apricot stone on the nose. Juicy and fruit-forward, with medium body and a fleshy, tropical finish. Sustainable. Drink now.VN8888 pts. - Vinous - Jun 2022 The 2021 Bianco Anthilia is sweetly scented with notes of green melon, minty herbs and almond paste. It soothes with silky textures, as a tantalizing burst of citrus and salire-tinged acids add energy and verve. While a bit short, the 2021 leaves the palate completely refreshed and aching for more. The Anthilia is composed primarily of Lucido (Catarratto), along with other indigenous varieties. (Eric Guido)
VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Jun 2022 In a cloud of crushed violet candies, sugar-dusted currants and hints of sage evolve, making the 2020 Nero d’Avola Lagnusa a total aromatic pleasure. Soft-textured and round, this impresses further with ripe red and blue-toned fruits, complemented by sweet spice over a core of vibrant acidity. The Lagnusa finishes remarkably fresh yet long, leaving the mouth watering while still resonating on hints of blackberry and a bitter twang of sour citrus. (Eric Guido)SP9191 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 15, 2022 Delivers wild strawberry, raspberry and red licorice notes that are expressive and juicy, with tea rose, thyme and tar notes and bright orange peel acidity. Long and creamy on the palate, with fine, chalky tannins. Drink now through 2030. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. (Alison Napjus)

VN9393 pts. - Vinous - Jun 2022 The 2020 Bianco Contrade SM is a varietal Grillo with a wild yet alluring bouquet that reminds me more of a spiced, citrus-inspired, herbal tea than wine. Then mix in some smoke, a hint of underbrush and viola. It’s soft-textured and savory to the core, with flinty young peach motivated by brisk acids and hints of sour lemon. This leaves a staining of minerality, along with notes of ginger and tangerine, while tapering off with impressive length and concentration. Wow, I’m finding it hard to put this glass down. This is the first vintage of the SM with a strikeout on the label, as Occhipinti can not legally add the Contrada name “Santa Margherita” to the label. The vines are planted in sandy, calcareous soils at 500 meters in Chiaramonte Gulfi, just north of Vittoria.
RP9191 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 22nd Jun 2023 The organic Arianna Occhipinti 2020 Sicilia Nero d’Avola Siccagno offers a pretty medley of cherry, dark fruit and a touch of clove. The wine shows background hints of cola, black olive and baked plum. There is a lot of lifted fruit in this wine that leads to a punchy, lively style overall. It is fluid in personality but also lean in texture. (Monica Larner)
VN9090 pts. - Vinous - May 2023 The 2022 Rosé is spicy, blending crushed stone with a grapefruit and young kiwi spritz. This is round and silky in feel, gaining a more tactile edge as saline minerals settle in. The 2022 finishes incredibly fresh, leaving behind tropical melon and a gentle tug of sour citrus tension. (Eric Guido)
JS9191 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Wednesday, August 17, 2022 Aromas of baked plum, black cherry and black tea. Medium-to full-bodied with chalky tannins. Pleasantly ripe and juicy on the palate. Nice balance here, with a tasty finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink now.
VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Jun 2022 The 2018 Nero d’Avola Il Moro is gorgeous from the first tilt of the glass, with a darkly alluring mix of ripe plums, balsam herbs, tobacco and hints of camphor that keep me coming back for more. This is silky in feel yet energetic, with dark red fruits and inner spices motivated by vibrant acidity, and a bump of sour citrus that seals the deal. There’s a bitter note that lingers through the finale, along with hints of cedar, all framed by subtle tannins. Give this a short stay in the cellar to show its best. (Eric Guido)
