Today is in the high eighties and the humidity is still up there. Even though September is right around the corner, the weather is telling us that a light, refreshing white wine is just the ticket we need to quench our thirst in this steam bath heat. Our friends at Heaven Hill have released a couple of new bourbons worth talking about.

First, an addition to the always dependable and criminally-overlooked (in my opinion) Evan Williams line. The Evan Williams white label bourbon is a 100 proof (bottled in bond as it's said) offering with no age statement in a 1 liter bottle, with the same shape as Evan Williams black or green label. The bourbon has a really nice color and makes me think of making a nice Manhattan or Old Fashioned. The price, an affordable $18.99.

This weekend we are celebrating one of our own brands produced exclusively for us by Mazza Chautauqua Cellars. The Premier Cuvee is a perfect summer quencher that delivers fruit bursting flavor with slight minerality. On the nose a lemon–lime lollipop bouquet is pervasive. Beyond the first taste of lemon-lime, there is a slight stone fruit follow-up. The wine is unapologetically sweet without being sugary tasting thanks to the tangy citrus flavors and bright acidity.
