Either the bottle is too large for our packaging (i.e. we cannot ship anything larger than 750 ml), the dimensions/shape of the bottle doesn't fit within our packaging for safe shipment, or this is a widely-distributed wine (e.g. Barefoot, Yellow Tail, etc) which we only sell at our physical store or for in-store pickup.
Bottled in Bond Without Chill Filtration NV / 750 ml. | Item#50357
WHA8989 pts. - Whisky Advocate - Winter, 2018 Fresh and delicate on the nose, with stone fruit — especially peaches — white pepper, orange Creamsicle, and spice. A generous oak backbone provides the foundation for plums, nectarines, black pepper, clove, chamomile tea, and piney cedar that sweeps into a dry oak, cocoa, iced-tea finish. Although a bit hot at times, the balance and array of flavors is an outstanding coup for this young distillery.

WHA9191 pts. - Whisky Advocate - Spring, 2019 An edgy and energetic rye: fresh, grassy, and herbaceous, with orange, cedar, clove, sassafras, and gingerbread cookie. Dense and chewy, it has an unfurling parade of flavors: orange, cedar oil, berries, oatmeal cookies, cinnamon candy, pepper, pecans, and clove gum. Add a few drops of water and the profile shifts to highlight the herbal notes, along with mouthwatering oak, pecans, citrus oil, and chocolate. Lengthy and well-spiced finish. Take the time to get to know this whiskey: it’ll reward you.

VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2023 The 2019 Barolo is a gorgeous wine and also a terrific introduction to this range. Medium in body, with captivating inner perfume, the 2019 is sensual and inviting right out of the gate. Crushed flowers, spice, lavender and rose petal appear later, adding layers of nuance. All the elements are impeccably balanced throughout. What a total delight this is. (Antonio Galloni)

VN9595 pts. - Vinous - Nov 2020 The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Cosimo from Palazzo takes things to a dark and richer place without sacrificing the energy and primary intensity that I’ve come to expect from this estate. An earthy mix of ripe blackberry and cherry is complemented by balsamic spice and black licorice. It’s velvety-smooth with excellent density to its ripe red fruits, yet not weighty or tiring in any way, as cooling acids and minerals balance the expression perfectly. Its tannins can be felt only in the finish, as this folds in upon itself and leaves you wondering what further depths will be revealed over time. Dedicated to the family’s father who passed in 2012, the Cosimo is from a parcel of the oldest vines in the vineyard, first planted by Cosimo Loia over thirty-five years ago. It’s a gorgeous wine. This was tasted over the course of two days and only got better. (Eric Guido)WE9595 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 5/1/2021 This opens with aromas recalling pipe tobacco, blue flower, ripe woodland berry and oak-driven spice. Full bodied and savory, the enveloping palate features mature Marasca cherry, baked plum, vanilla and licorice accompanied by velvety, close-grained tannins. Drink 2024–2034. (Kerin O’Keefe)JS9595 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Wednesday, November 11, 2020 A dense, layered red with berry, walnut and cedar aromas and flavors. Some fruit tea, too. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, chewy tannins and a solid finish. Tight and tannic. Give this three to four years to open. Drink after 2024. (James Suckling)JD9292 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 3/4/2021 This wine is dedicated to the memory of Cosimo Loia, who founded the estate in 1983. The Cosimo botting comes from the oldest vines of the estate, planted by Cosimo himself. The 2016 Cosimo Brunello is warm with fresh cherry fruit, baking spice, cedar, and sage. The palate is generous and ripe, with pure fruit and supple tannins. It was aged for 40 months in Slavonian oak barrels and French tonneaux. There is an approachability within its classic structure that is welcoming to drinking now. 2021–2031. (Audrey Frick)

JD9999 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - December 12, 2019 Reminding me of the 2009 La Chapelle (which is a personal favorite), the brilliant 2017 Hermitage La Chapelle knocks it out of the park with its massive, opulent personality. Notes of smoked black fruits, scorched earth, burning embers, and graphite as well as subtle background meatiness flow to a monster of a Hermitage that has full-bodied richness, incredible depth of fruit, and an overwhelming, sexy style that’s already impossible to resist. Do your best to hide bottles for 4–5 years, but it’s going to evolve for 40 years or more. There are roughly 2,000 cases of this elixir, and every Syrah lover out there should have a bottle (or more) in their cellar. (Jeb Dunnuck)JS9898 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, December 3, 2019 The icon is in dangerously seductive form. Such pristine dark cherries, blackberries and dark plums, dark chocolate, finely crushed spices and plenty of crushed dark stones on offer. The palate is very intense, very slick and fine tannins deliver an almost playfully soft impression. The oak is super integrated. Like La Maison Bleue, this approachability is an aberration, as it has immense power, concentration and length with such regal and alluring swagger at the finish. But there is so much more to come. Try from 2024, better after 2030.RP97+97–99 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Oct 2018 In need of serious air to open up, the 2017 Hermitage La Chapelle became more and more impressive the longer I kept it in the glass. At first it seemed a bit simple, if admirably plummy and rich, but by the time ten minutes had elapsed, it was showing off elegant notes of crushed stone, pencil shavings and cassis, while remaining full-bodied, rich and concentrated. It’s velvety and long on the finish, but something left me wanting a bit more. It’s surely a great La Chapelle, but will it reach that elusive triple-digit score?VN95+95–96 pts. - Vinous - Jul 2019 Brilliant magenta. A highly complex bouquet evokes ripe dark berries, cherry liqueur, incense and potpourri, while olive and exotic spice nuances build in the glass. Displays intense, alluringly sweet black/blue fruit, spicecake and violet pastille flavors that show sharp delineation and are braced by a spine of juicy acidity. Closes extremely long and precise, displaying a smoky, intensifying mineral quality and youthfully gripping tannins that build steadily.
RP98+98–100 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 19th Dec 2019 Jaboulet’s 2018 Hermitage La Chapelle features scents of crushed stone, violets and cassis. It’s a classic trio, backed by a wine that’s full-bodied, rich and powerful yet also airy, somehow carrying intense plum and black olive flavors without any sense of heaviness or excess weight. Then the wine finishes long and softly dusty, with tannins that accentuate its savory character, picking up delicious hints of licorice at the very end. The proportion of new oak has been trimmed back to a very reasonable 20% and is hardly noticeable in the wine.JD97+97–99 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - December 12, 2019 A deep, powerful, primordial wine (which is exactly what you’d expect for a great vintage of this cuvée), the inky hued 2018 Hermitage La Chapelle offers tons of crème de cassis as well as a liquid rock-like minerality, peppery herbs, burning embers, and graphite aromas and flavors. The palate mirrors the intensity of the bouquet and is full-bodied, concentrated, and tight, yet still packs a huge amount of baby fat. The 2018 is a beautifully pure, balanced, massively endowed La Chapelle that will need a decade of cellaring and keep for 3–4 decades with no problems. (Jeb Dunnuck)VN9696 pts. - Vinous - Apr 2020 Opaque ruby. Displays powerful, highly perfumed aromas of black/blue fruit preserves, licorice, cola, baking spices and potpourri, along with an exotic suggestion of incense. Utterly stains the palate with intense blackberry, cherry, cassis, floral pastille and spicecake flavors that deliver a suave blend of weight and energy. Youthfully solid tannins add shape and grip to an extremely long, mineral- and floral-accented finish that shows outstanding clarity and dark fruit thrust.JS9696 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, August 3, 2020 Seems a little shy at the moment, but you can tell that this has serious poise and pedigree with subtle clove, crushed-brick, iron, black-cherry and plum-skin character. It’s full-bodied, yet very tight and reserved with super refined tannins that are so fine-textured, yet intense. Give this three or four years to show its true self. From organically grown grapes. Better after 2023.
WE9292 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 7/1/2021 The bold, slightly smoky aroma teases the nose. The palate opens with ribbons of toffee sweetness intertwined with clove, cardamom and black pepper. Adding water amps up the spice, layering on cinnamon and cayenne heat. The long finish surprises with an orange peel note.
