  2. Flotsam & Jetsam Stalward Cinsault

    2017 / 750 ml. | Item#47975

    VN8888 pts. - Vinous - Aug 2018
The Heirloom Cinsault is whole-cluster-fermented. It has a lovely pimiento and white pepper bouquet that springs out of the glass. The palate is vibrant on the entry — in fact, Chris mentioned there was a bit of CO2 in the bottle when the screwcap was put on, so you might notice a bit of fizz, though there is no refermenting! Cranberry and crushed strawberry make a fun Cinsault that should be consumed over the next couple of years.

  3. Gabriëlskloof Amphora Sauvignon Blanc

    2021 / 750 ml. | Item#59157

    VN8989 pts. - Vinous - Sep 2022
The 2021 Amphora is pure Sauvignon Blanc aged for eight months in clay amphora. It has an attractive nose with yellow fruit and pressed flowers, though you could argue there is less in the way of varietal typicity. The palate is well balanced with a slightly honeyed texture, almond and vanillary notes, slight oxidative notes lending complexity on the finish. Very fine. (Neal Martin)

The 2020 Syrah Whole Bunch offers well-defined red fruit on the nose, a real doppelganger for a fine Rhône, classic in style with floral scents emerging with aeration. The medium-bodied palate is silky-smooth, delivering supple tannins, fine acidity and a caressing, irresistibly peppery finish. This is a gorgeous Syrah from Gabrielskloof.

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#55355

Medium-bodied, the palate provides complexity and elegance with a balanced structure, offering subtle notes of pencil shavings, oak spice and herbs that lift the mid-palate. The wine continues to uncoil in the mouth as it glides to a graceful and lingering finish. It will continue drinking well for years to come. The wine rested 18 months in French oak barriques, 30% new. 108,000 bottles were produced. Give it a try. (Anthony Mueller)

    RP91+91+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Jul 2023
The 2020 Seriously Old Dirt is composed mainly of Cabernet Sauvignon, with 8% Merlot, 4% Malbec and 2% Cabernet Franc. This delicious red blend boasts juicy flavors of red and black fruits, complemented by a lovely mix of brown baking spices and delicate flowers, compounded by a firm, mineral edge. Medium to full-bodied and sporting 13.5% alcohol on the label, the wine has a succulent palate with dark cherry flavors, followed by bright acidity that drives through the mid-palate with fine-grained tannins. The finish is fresh and picturesque, with lingering notes of just-ripe plum and soft oak tones. This delightful wine was aged for 18 months in French oak barrels. Give it a try. (Anthony Mueller)
    VN8989 pts. - Vinous - Sep 2022
The 2020 Seriously Old Dirt, which has a tiny quantity of new oak plus fifth or older barrels from Vilafonté, has quite a spicy nose with red berry fruit, pain d’épices and light pepper scents. Fine intensity. A touch of tobacco emerges with time. The palate is medium-bodied with a supple opening, good acidity, quite taut with elegance and freshness on its understated finish. (Neal Martin)
