VN8989 pts. - Vinous - Jun 2022 The 2020 Zibibbo in Pithos is perfumed and exotic in the glass, with layers of crystallized ginger, pungent yellow flowers, sun tea and blood orange forming its bouquet. This is soft, nearly glycerol in texture, coasting floral-laced young peach and mango across a core of saline-minerals. It leaves the palate dry, while also watering for more, but tapering off a bit shorter than anticipated. The Zibbibo in Pithos is refined completely in Amphora. While I really enjoy the uniqueness of the 2020, it lacks some of the energy of past vintages.

Lightly mouthwatering and harmonious throughout, with a lasting, spiced finish. Drink now through 2028. 350 cases imported.
RP9191 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 28th Aug 2013 The NV Moscatel Promesa is produced from Moscatel grapes grown in Chipiona and aged in a solera system with an average age of four years. It is bottled with 237 grams of sugar and 17% alcohol. It shows a dark amber color and shows the younger side of Moscatel with a complex nose of orange rind, honeysuckle, chocolate, coffee, flowers and spices, with well integrated aromas. The palate shows a dense, compact wine, full of spices and balsamic flavors, with the orange notes coming back in the long finish, managing to keep some freshness. Drink 2013–2018.
VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Jun 2021 The 2019 Zibibbo in Pithos is exotic and wickedly fresh, as musky dried apricot and tangerine gives way to minty herbs and hints of wet concrete. It’s deeply textural, almost glycerol-like in feel, with masses of inner florals resonating over notes of ripe melon and hints of kiwi, all kept in check by brisk acidity. This is so incredibly fresh and lifted but also lightly structured, tapering off like taking that first bite of a perfectly ripe yellow apple. What a fun wine. The Zibibbo in Pithos is a dry Muscat of Alexandria (known on Etna as Zibibbo) that’s vinified in amphora.
RP9999 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Oct 2002 Buller, who has long been a supplier of fortified wines to the big Yalumba Company, has begun bottling under his own label, and, luckily for Americans, they have been picked up by a USA importer. The Tokay Calliope and Muscat Calliope are pure perfection. Both are amber-colored nectars with extraordinary perfumes, incredible richness, and finishes that linger on the palate, seemingly forever. At $50, they are a steal. The average age for the Calliope offerings is around 50 years of age. Australia continues to be a treasure trove for fortified, after-dinner wines. Once bottled, they do not change, and often age up to a decade where well stored. After opening, most will last for a week. This is one of the top wine discoveries of this year’s tastings. Many consumers are going to be overjoyed with these offerings.WE9898 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/15/2007 This is dark, almost black in color at the center, with greening evident at the rim. Syrupy, intense aromas of coffee and dark chocolate make an immediate impact on the nose, followed by syrupy, intense flavors of coffee and molasses. There’s mind-boggling concentration here, but just enough acidity to provide a sense of balance. This refuses to let go of the palate, finishing with excellent clarity, thrust and sticky persistence.
