  3. Occhipinti Siccagno Nero d’Avola

    2020 / 750 ml. | Item#60023

    RP9191 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 22nd Jun 2023
The organic Arianna Occhipinti 2020 Sicilia Nero d’Avola Siccagno offers a pretty medley of cherry, dark fruit and a touch of clove. The wine shows background hints of cola, black olive and baked plum. There is a lot of lifted fruit in this wine that leads to a punchy, lively style overall. It is fluid in personality but also lean in texture. (Monica Larner)

    2021 / 750 ml. | Item#58280

    JS9191 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Wednesday, August 17, 2022
Fresh peach, melon, lemon and apricot stone on the nose. Juicy and fruit-forward, with medium body and a fleshy, tropical finish. Sustainable. Drink now.
    VN8888 pts. - Vinous - Jun 2022
The 2021 Bianco Anthilia is sweetly scented with notes of green melon, minty herbs and almond paste. It soothes with silky textures, as a tantalizing burst of citrus and salire-tinged acids add energy and verve. While a bit short, the 2021 leaves the palate completely refreshed and aching for more. The Anthilia is composed primarily of Lucido (Catarratto), along with other indigenous varieties. (Eric Guido)

  8. Passopisciaro Contrada Chiappemacine

    2012 / 750 ml. | Item#40754

    RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 29th Sep 2015
The “C” in the 2012 Contrada C stands for Chiappemacine. This is a 1.2 hectare vineyard planted to 80-year-old vines at 550 meters above sea level. The soils here consist of a thin layer of volcanic lava that allows the roots to penetrate the sandy limestone below. This results in a softer wine with a round and plush mouthfeel. Bright berry nuances are followed by pressed rose petal and crushed stone. I would suggest a slightly shorter drinking window for Contrada C. It ages in botte grande for 18 months.
    SP9191 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2015
Open-knit and woodsy up front, with approachable black cherry, licorice string, smoke and sandalwood flavors, featuring supple tannins that firm up on the solid finish. Should develop with decanting or short-term cellaring. Nerello Mascalese. Drink now through 2028. 240 cases made.

  9. Tenuta delle Terre Nere Etna Rosato

    2022 / 750 ml. | Item#60310

    VN8989 pts. - Vinous - May 2023
The 2022 Rosato Etna is understated and delicate, with dried strawberry and dusty florals forming its bouquet. This shows a pretty inner sweetness up front that gives way to crisp orchard fruits and spice. It finishes a bit dry, yet clean, with a saline-tinge that slowly tapers off. (Eric Guido)

  12. Cos Zibibbo in Pithos

    2020 / 750 ml. | Item#57499

    VN8989 pts. - Vinous - Jun 2022
The 2020 Zibibbo in Pithos is perfumed and exotic in the glass, with layers of crystallized ginger, pungent yellow flowers, sun tea and blood orange forming its bouquet. This is soft, nearly glycerol in texture, coasting floral-laced young peach and mango across a core of saline-minerals. It leaves the palate dry, while also watering for more, but tapering off a bit shorter than anticipated. The Zibbibo in Pithos is refined completely in Amphora. While I really enjoy the uniqueness of the 2020, it lacks some of the energy of past vintages.

  13. Planeta Cerasuolo di Vittoria

    2020 / 750 ml. | Item#58988

    SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 15, 2022
Lightly toasty on the nose, less so on the palate, with a pure beam of raspberry coulis fruit flavors layered with a minerally underpinning of smoke and graphite, plus rich notes of fig cake, wild sage, ground coffee and red licorice. A fresh, classy version, with lightly chalky tannins emerging to firm the finish. Nero d’Avola and Frappato. Drink now through 2027. 6,650 cases made, 1,415 cases imported. (Alison Napjus)
    WS9191 pts. - Wine & Spirits - 06/22
Notes of dried thyme and white pepper weave through this wine’s juicy cherry and strawberry flavors, then the wine finishes with a bright spray of orange zest. It’s a lively, midweight wine, versatile for a range of lighter fare.
    VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Jun 2022
The 2020 Cerasuolo di Vittoria is dark and smoky, with black currants and crushed blueberries offset by a hint of animal musk. This is a soft and pure yet energetic expression, with a mix of tart wild berries and sour citrus tones adding tension. It tapers off long and floral, with a pleasant inner sweetness complicated by a staining of salty minerals. This is so incredibly fresh. The 2020 Cerasuolo di Vittoria is a blend of 60% Nero d’Avola and 40% Frappato. (Eric Guido)

    JS9393 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Wednesday, July 19, 2023
Attractive and fresh with red berries, hints of hibiscus flowers and citrus peel. Some dusty earth, too. Medium-bodied with chalky tannins that play nicely with the textural earthy character, before turning to a vivid, red-fruited finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink now. (James Suckling)
    SP9191 pts. - Wine Spectator - Aug 31, 2023

  15. Tenuta delle Terre Nere Feudo di Mezzo Etna Rosso

    Il Quadro delle Rose
    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#52815

    WE9494 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 10/1/2020
Graphite, thyme, brambly berry and violet aromas waft out of the glass along with Mediterranean scrub. Boasting youthful tension, the chiseled palate delivers succulent Marasca cherry, crushed raspberry, licorice and coffee bean set against elegant, fine-grained tannins. Bright acidity keeps it balanced while a hint of saline lingers on the close. Drink through 2033.
    VN9393 pts. - Vinous - Jun 2021
The 2018 Etna Rosso Feudo di Mezzo is dark and rich in the glass, wafting up with notes of cherry sauce, plums and Indian spice. It is deeply textural and velvety in feel, with ripe black instead of red notes, lifted by cooling mineral and minty herbs. There’s an almost balsamic twang to the finish, as this leaves the palate drenched in primary fruit and grippy tannins. The Feudo di Mezzo is a bit of a bruiser in 2018, yet a few years of cellaring should help bring it into focus.
