    VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Oct 2022
The 2019 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Riserva is dark and moody in the glass, opening slow with a smoldering mix of red currants, grilled herbs and flowery underbrush. It’s texturally deep and pliant, showcasing polished ripe red and hints of blue fruit that are carried effortlessly across a core of juicy acidity. The 2019 tapers off with a subtle tug of fine tannin and sweet raspberry tones that leave a lasting impression. (Eric Guido)

  4. Tiberio Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo

    2022 / 750 ml. | Item#60330

    VN9494 pts. - Vinous - May 2023
The 2022 Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo seduces with its perfumed blend of crushed cherries and strawberries, complemented by rhubarb, violets and sweet smoke. It’s racy and sleek, built on energy, with a mineral core that grips the palate. A cascade of wild berries is excited by tantalizing acidity. This finishes dramatically long, lightly structured and full of zesty tension as salty nuances combine with tart red fruits and hints of sour citrus. The 2022 takes Cerasuolo to a whole new level. This is more a red than a Rosé, and with a bouquet to match. (Eric Guido)

  6. Trediberri Barolo Berri

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#60219

    JD93+93–96 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 5/4/2023
The 2019 Barolo Berri was tasted from two barrels, one of which utilized whole bunches in the fermentation. While both offered freshness and purity, the second barrel offered more significant spice in its profile, with more depth of fruit, and is firmly structured at this stage. The components are compelling and should make for a wonderful finished blend in a few years’ time. (Audrey Frick)
    VN9393 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2023
The 2019 Barolo Berri is tightly wound and austere in the early going. Crushed red berry fruit, iron, dried herbs and white pepper give the Berri a striking aromatic top register. The tannins are a bit nervy, though, so a few years in bottle are warranted. Frost decimated the crop at Torriglione, which is why this wine (typically the Barolo del Comune di La Morra) is Berri in 2019. To be exact, there is 4% Torriglione, as that was the wine used for topping. (Antonio Galloni)

  8. Salcheto Chianti Biskero

    2021 / 750 ml. | Item#58381

    VN8989 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2023
The 2021 Chianti Biskero bursts from the glass with a fruit-forward mix of raspberry, black cherries and autumnal spice. This is plush in feel; vibrant acidity and ripe red berry fruits create an energetic and jovial expression. It leaves just a touch of sweet tannins while tapering off long yet playful in style. This may be a no-frills style of Chianti, but it’s also full of character. The Biskero is a blend of 85% Sangiovese, 5% Mammolo, 5% Canaiolo and 5% Merlot. (Eric Guido)

Black-cherry and orange-peel aromas and flavors. Some lead pencil and slate, too. It’s medium-bodied with fine tannins and firm acidity, which adds verve and tension to the wine. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.
    VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Jul 2022
The 2020 Chianti Classico is bright, elegant, and wonderfully translucent, with lovely red fruit character and all the elegance of Radda coming through nicely. Mint, blood orange, pipe tobacco, and spice linger on the brilliant, delineated finish. (Antonio Galloni)

  10. Ciacci Piccolomini d’Aragona Brunello di Montalcino

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#54009

    RP95+95+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Nov 2020
The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino (with 56,000 bottles made) shows bold cherry, spice, crushed stone and balsam herb that come together in seamless fashion. This estate has honed a unique style that becomes a common theme traced to each new vintage. I’d describe it as delicate but also succulent with a rich and almost pulpy quality of fruit. The wine is fueled by the golden light that hits this part of Tuscany in those last hours of the day. Here is a wine that shows spirit of place.
    JS9595 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Wednesday, November 11, 2020
Lots of red and blue fruit to this, evolving into wet leaves, freshly turned soil and brewed tea. Light herbal notes. Sweet cherries, too. It’s full bodied with silky, firm tannins. More minerality and tea notes on the finish. Elegant and driven. Drink after 2023.
    VN9393 pts. - Vinous - Nov 2020
The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino from Ciacci Piccolomini d’Aragona places savory herbs, exotic spice and earth tones above ripeness of fruit. It’s decidedly dark and brooding on the nose, lifted by hints of fresh-picked mint and sage. There are depths of velvety textures in the mouth, offset by a tactile mix of tart wild berries, minerals and zesty acidity which adds vibrancy in spite of the tannic heft and primary intensity found here. The 2016 finishes with a monolithic feel, still wound up tightly in its youthful state but also promising many years of positive evolution in our cellars. This is gorgeous and a great value for age-worthy Brunello.
    SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - Jun 30, 2021
Light on its feet, this red evokes strawberry, cherry, earth, menthol and Tuscan scrub flavors. Shows a firm underlying structure, with a fresh and focused finish. Best from 2023 through 2042. 3,333 cases made, 1,000 cases imported.

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#59149

    VN9393 pts. - Vinous - Jul 2022
The 2019 La Massa is a very pretty wine. Crushed flowers, red berry fruit, mint, chalk and spice accents are all nicely delineated. There’s terrific energy driving the 2019. Once again, Giampaolo Motta’s Sangiovese-based blend delivers the goods. (Antonio Galloni)
    JS9292 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, August 8, 2022

    VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Dec 2022
The 2021 Pelaverga Basadone is vibrant and fruity, with plenty of charm and tons of energy. Crushed red berry fruit, white pepper, smoke, licorice and dried herbs are beautifully delineated. Bright acids give this deceptively light-bodied red tons of energy. (Antonio Galloni)

  13. Tolaini Al Passo

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#58664

    VN9393 pts. - Vinous - Jul 2022
The 2019 Al Passo is rich, ample and generous. Healthy dollops of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon turbocharge Sangiovese, adding depth and structure. Red-fleshed Sangiovese fruit emerges over time. The 2019 is deep and quite fleshy, but it also has a good deal of brightness to balance some of its more overt leanings. (Antonio Galloni)
    SP9191 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 30, 2022
An expressive, fruity style, this red features cherry, raspberry, plum, floral and wild herb aromas and flavors. Dense and lively, with a lingering aftertaste of red fruit and herbs. Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2023 through 2036. 10,000 cases made, 7,000 cases imported. (Bruce Sanderson)

  14. Fattoria dei Barbi Brunello di Montalcino

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#54454

    SP9595 pts. - Wine Spectator - Mar 24, 2021
This red is pure and supple, evoking cherry, blackberry, licorice, earth and spice flavors, delivering almost seamless harmony at this early stage, with refined tannins that are very well-integrated. Shows fine length, courtesy of the vibrant acidity. Best from 2023 through 2043. 16,600 cases made, 2,000 cases imported. (Bruce Sanderson)
    JD9595 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - March 4, 2021
The 2016 Brunello has delicate savory aromas of rosemary, dried raspberry, and floral forest floor. There is freshness and pure ripe fruit that fills the palate, with blood orange, dried red cherry, and fresh tomato leaf as well as classic, angular tannin structure and a pleasant light bitterness. This wonderfully expressed traditional wine will be prime for enjoyment over the next 15 years. 2021–2036. (Jeb Dunnuck)
    JS9595 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Wednesday, November 11, 2020
Aromas of plums, cherries, flowers and sandalwood follow through to a full body with chewy, polished tannins and a long, flavorful finish. Lots of structure and intensity. Give it at least three or four years to come around. Try after 2025.
    RP94+94+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Nov 2020
The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino is a delicate and graceful wine. It shows the precision, linearity and power of the vintage for sure, but it also delivers floral tones, bright raspberry, toasted almond and a playful touch of medicinal herb that shape a careful and contemplative bouquet. Those bright aromatic nuances are followed by silky tannins and softly finessed fruit flavors. With an ample 160,000 bottles made, this is a solid go-to Brunello, especially if you are looking for a bottle with a relatively accessible drinking window.
    VN9494 pts. - Vinous - Nov 2020
Dark and minerally intense from start to finish, the 2016 Brunello di Montalcino displays crushed stone and ashen earth tones before blossoming further with notes of black cherry, cedar box and sage. The textures are creamy, with cooling acids that lift the expression while also maintaining an energetic feel, as tart wild berries and spices give way to a coating of fine tannins. This is full of character, yet youthfully poised and tense, but it’s like a bomb waiting to explode. Fattoria dei Barbi really overdelivers in 2016, but it will be a number of years before this is truly ready to drink. (Eric Guido)
