  2. Cune Rioja Made with Organic Grapes

    2020 / 750 ml. | Item#58037

    RP9191 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 14th Jul 2022
The certified organic red 2020 Cune Organic is aromatic, expressive and fruit-driven but with depth and complexity. They liked the Garnacha in 2020, which represents no less than 60% of the blend, complemented by 30% Tempranillo and 10% Graciano. The wine is fresh and has a profile similar to the young and juicy Crianza, with good ripeness and a solid palate. It matured in second use 300-liter oak barrels for six months. Urrutia mentioned cheerful and barbecue when talking about this wine. Very good at that. 40,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in March 2022. (Luis Gutiérrez)
    VN8989 pts. - Vinous - Apr 2021
Deep, lurid ruby. Ripe black and blue fruits, candied flowers and a hint of licorice on the perfumed nose. Sappy and velvety in texture, offering bitter cherry and blueberry flavors that turn sweeter with air. Finishes long and smooth, with repeating spiciness, a hint of cola and round, even tannins. VN8989 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2023
The 2021 Chianti Biskero bursts from the glass with a fruit-forward mix of raspberry, black cherries and autumnal spice. This is plush in feel; vibrant acidity and ripe red berry fruits create an energetic and jovial expression. It leaves just a touch of sweet tannins while tapering off long yet playful in style. This may be a no-frills style of Chianti, but it’s also full of character. The Biskero is a blend of 85% Sangiovese, 5% Mammolo, 5% Canaiolo and 5% Merlot. (Eric Guido)

Black-cherry and orange-peel aromas and flavors. Some lead pencil and slate, too. It’s medium-bodied with fine tannins and firm acidity, which adds verve and tension to the wine. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

A burst of sour melon and crushed rocks gives way to green apples and fresh mint as the captivating 2022 Rosato blossoms in the glass. This blends vibrant acidity with zesty mineral tones and sweet spice to create a truly harmonious and high-energy vibe on the palate. Nothing is out of place as the 2022 finishes with a tinge of crisp minerality, leaving the mouth watering as gingery spice hints fade. The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot and 4% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple in color, it strides confidently out of the glass with notes of crushed blueberries, ripe, fresh blackberries and warm cassis plus hints of bay leaves, mossy tree bark and lavender. The medium-bodied palate is chock-full of crunchy black fruits, framed by ripe, grainy tannins and bold freshness, finishing long with loads of mineral sparks. (Lisa Perrotti-Brown)

  9. Kamen Cabernet Sauvignon

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#59867

    VN9494 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2022
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is mostly Martini clone from the core of the estate. A heady, ample wine, the 2019 is endowed with striking opulence. Blackberry jam, chocolate, spice, new leather, licorice and mocha shows tremendous depth. Attractive floral notes emerge with a bit of aeration, adding brightness. The contours are remarkably soft for a young mountain Cabernet. These wines age beautifully, their youthful opulence notwithstanding, so I would not be in a rush here. (Antonio Galloni)
    SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - Jul 31, 2022
Alluring, with steeped plum and cassis notes cruising through, backed by lively licorice snap, bramble and sweet tobacco accents. A long echo of singed alder permeates on the finish. Best from 2023 through 2034. 2,250 cases made. (James Molesworth)

    2020 / 750 ml. | Item#60422

    VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Jun 2022
In a cloud of crushed violet candies, sugar-dusted currants and hints of sage evolve, making the 2020 Nero d’Avola Lagnusa a total aromatic pleasure. Soft-textured and round, this impresses further with ripe red and blue-toned fruits, complemented by sweet spice over a core of vibrant acidity. The Lagnusa finishes remarkably fresh yet long, leaving the mouth watering while still resonating on hints of blackberry and a bitter twang of sour citrus. (Eric Guido)
    SP9191 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 15, 2022

  12. Gini Soave Classico

    2021 / 750 ml. | Item#58163

    VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Apr 2022
The 2021 Soave Classico is remarkably pretty with yellow flowers, wet stone and freshly sliced pear. This is mineral and focused upon entry, with perfumed orchard fruits and a salty flourish that returns toward the close. Pear and peach skins resonate, as this tapers off lightly structured with an almost-herbal tea-like quality. The Classico is a blend of some of the region’s top vineyards with an average vine age of 90 years. (Eric Guido)
    SP9191 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2023
A well-cut, minerally Soave, with a tropical edge of passion fruit and dried pineapple, a base note of petrol and aromas and flavors of poached apricot, orchard blossoms and grated ginger. Drink now through 2028. 9,000 cases made, 500 cases imported. (Alison Napjus)

  13. La Spinetta Barolo Campè

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#53461

    VN9797 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2020
The 2016 Barolo Campè is superb. Dark, potent and powerful, the 2016 possesses tremendous intensity to match its dark, virile personality. More than anything else, in 2016 the Campè offers a captivating interplay of fruit and structure. The 2016 is not a shy wine; rather it is rich and hedonistic to the core, while maintaining a striking sense of translucence. Black cherry, chocolate, espresso, licorice and clove all build into the huge finish. In a word: Superb. In 2016 Giorgio Rivetti and his team made a Barolo with a sense of classicism I have never seen before to this degree in a La Spinetta wine.
    RP9696 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 23rd Jul 2020
The Campè vineyard is above Garretti in Grinzane Cavour. La Spinetta’s 2016 Barolo Campè Vürsù draws its fruit from the upper part of the vineyard where the topsoils are shallow and the vines are oldest, aged 70+ years. Fruit comes from a three-hectare site with beautiful southern exposures. This beautiful wine opens to a velvety and dark appearance with dark garnet highlights. To the nose, it produces dark primary fruit with dried blackberry and plum, but you also get savory notes of spice, tar and dried licorice root. The wine shows a firm backbone, but the tannins are nicely tucked into the greater fiber and power of the mouthfeel. Production is 9,000 bottles.
    JS9696 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Thursday, November 7, 2019
As always, this shows loads of dried flowers and dried peaches and persimmons; it’s a ripe and unique wine. A cascade of tannins follows, enveloping the mouth in chewy sensations from top to bottom, flanked in dried-berry flavors. Full-bodied and dense, but agile and inviting. Drink from 2026.

  15. Cusumano Nero d’Avola

    2020 / 750 ml. | Item#53402

    VN8787 pts. - Vinous - Jun 2022
The 2020 Nero d’Avola is dark with exotic spices, masses of black raspberry and a contrasting hint of mint that forms its bouquet. This is a fruit-forward and juicy effort, yet balance is nicely maintained through cooling acidity and a trace of sour citrus. It finishes fresh with hints of licorice and inner rose tones that linger. As entry-level Nero d’Avola goes, this is an excellent value.
