  1. “’O Sole Mio” by Paul Lato

    Two Wolves Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc
    2021 / 750 ml. | Item#58452

    RP9595 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 8th Dec 2022
I can’t get enough of the 2021 Sauvignon Blanc O Sole Mio Two Wolves Vineyard from Paul Lato. It’s reminiscent of a Bordeaux Blanc with the aromatics turned way up: white peaches and kiwi are complemented by tones of acacia, fresh green herbs and beeswax. The medium-bodied palate is satiny and mouth coating with seamless acidity and generous flavor layers. It’s got the bass, mid and treble to drink well on its own or pair with a wide range of dishes at the table. This impressive Sauvignon Blanc was grown by Alecia Moore at Two Wolves in Santa Ynez from fruit planted in 2015. It was matured for eight months in concrete, stainless and neutral oak vessels, and 250 cases were made. (Erin Brooks)
    JD9595 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 8/29/2022
I love Paul’s Sauvignon Blanc, and his 2021 O Sole Mio Sauvignon Blanc Two Wolves Vineyard is a winner, offering a clean, crisp bouquet of white grapefruit, crushed citrus, white flowers, and honeyed minerality. Beautifully balanced, medium-bodied, and textured, with bright, vibrant acidity, it’s a brilliant effort that will be about as versatile as they come on the dinner table. I would drink bottles over the coming couple of years while the fruit is vibrant and fresh, yet I certainly wouldn’t be surprised to see this have an interesting evolution over the coming decade. (Jeb Dunnuck)
    VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Aug 2022
The 2021 Sauvignon Blanc Wolves Vineyard O Sole Mio Two is quite dense and powerful. Lemon confit, dried flower, chamomile and spice are dialed up. Readers will find a serious Sauvignon Blanc that will drink best at the dinner table. Vinification and aging in concrete, where the lees remain in suspension, give the wine much of its textural depth. (Antonio Galloni)

  2. Daou Pessimist

    2020 / 750 ml. | Item#58845

    RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 15th Mar 2022
Deep ruby-purple, the 2020 Pessimist is a blend of 62% Petite Sirah, 18% Syrah, 18% Zinfandel and 2% Lagrein, matured for 10 months in 60% new French oak. It’s scented of black cherries with touches of purple flowers, graphite and grilled meats, and the medium-bodied palate is grainy and fresh with a long, perfumed finish. This offers fantastic quality for the price. (Erin Brooks)
    JD9292 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 9/30/2021
Always a Petite Sirah-dominated wine, the 2020 Pessimist sports an inky purple color as well as a great, full-bodied style carrying wonderful blue fruits, spring flowers, spice, and vanilla aromas and flavors. It’s textured, has ripe tannins, loads of fruit, and is about as sexy and gulpable as they come. It’s one heck of a steakhouse red to enjoy over the coming 2–4 years. (Jeb Dunnuck)
    VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Jul 2022
Dark purple. Oak-spiced black and blue fruit, mocha and floral qualities on the nose. Broad and supple in texture, offering pliant blackberry, kirsch, vanilla and salty olive flavors that deepen steadily through the midpalate. Finishes long, smooth and spicy, with even tannins and resonating smokiness. 50% new French oak. (Josh Raynolds)

  3. “Seabiscuit” by Paul Lato

    Zotovich Vineyard Pinot Noir
    2020 / 750 ml. | Item#58450

    JD96+96+ pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 8/29/2022
Looking at the Sta. Rita Hills releases, the 2020 Pinot Noir Seabiscuit Zotovich Vineyard has a complex bouquet of spiced red berry fruits as well as forest floor, loamy earth, baking spices, and some sea-like brine and iron nuances. Beautiful on the palate, it’s tight, structured, and focused, with medium to full-bodied richness, present tannins, and a great finish. It needs a year or two, but this is brilliant juice. (Jeb Dunnuck)
    VN9494 pts. - Vinous - Aug 2022
The 2020 Pinot Noir Zotovich Vineyard Seabiscuit is terrific. It captures all the lift and savory intensity typical of this site but with the added fruit concentration and depth that are such Paul Lato signatures. Crushed rose petal, mint, dried herbs and red-fleshed fruit abound. This is one of the more restrained Pinots in the Lato portfolio, in relative terms. (Antonio Galloni)

  4. Cambria Katherine’s Vineyard Chardonnay

    2020 / 750 ml. | Item#58576

    VN9494 pts. - Vinous - Aug 2022
The 2020 Chardonnay Katherine’s Vineyard is bright and wonderfully saline, with plenty of mineral and savory accents. Citrus peel, mint, white pepper, chalk and dried flowers open nicely with a bit of time. There’s terrific energy and plenty of cut. Most of this fruit is sourced from the own-rooted vines first planted in 1971. (Antonio Galloni)
    SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Mar 31, 2023
A supple and creamy white, with notes of nutmeg and toasted, salted hazelnut that complement lemon curd, fresh peach and crisp Fuji apple flavors. Drink now. 45,702 cases made. (MaryAnn Worobiec)
    WE9090 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 4/1/2022
Dried lime peel, seared lemon pith, white flower and a hint of grass show on the nose of this bottling. There’s an earthy, crushed rock element to the palate, where dried apple and herb flavors also arise. (Matt Kettmann)
    JD9090 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 8/29/2022
The 2020 Chardonnay Katherine’s Vineyard is terrific and shockingly good given the quantities produced. Burgundian-like aromas of stone fruits, chalky minerality, honeyed flowers, and brioche all define the nose, and it’s medium-bodied, with a supple, rounded texture, integrated acidity, and a great finish. 2015 / 750 ml. | Item#46626

    RP9797 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 29th Sep 2017
Blended of 60% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre and 10% Syrah, the medium to deep garnet colored 2015 Cote a Cote has a wonderfully vibrant perfume of red roses, red cherries and cinnamon stick over nuances of mulberries, vanilla pod, garrigue, dried lavender and white pepper. Full-bodied, rich, concentrated and oh-so-decadent, it completely fills the palate with seductive kirsch and spicy layers, supported by firm yet velvety tannins and seamless freshness, finishing with epic length. Bravo!
    VN9595 pts. - Vinous - Jul 2017
Deep brilliant ruby. An assertively perfumed bouquet evokes fresh black and blue fruits, Moroccan spices, vanilla and smoky minerals, while a suave floral pastille accent builds in the glass. Deeply concentrated yet surprisingly lively on the palate, offering sweet black raspberry, boysenberry, spicecake and mocha flavors that unfold slowly, picking up licorice and vanilla notes on the back half. Shows outstanding clarity and thrust on a supple, strikingly long finish shaped by smooth, building tannins.

  6. Paul Lato Space Cadet

    2020 / 750 ml. | Item#58451

    VN9797 pts. - Vinous - Aug 2022
The 2020 Space Cadet is the star in this range from Paul Lato. Silky and aromatic, the 2020 is hauntingly beautiful from the get-go. Inky red/purplish fruit, sage, cedar, tobacco, incense and dried flowers are some of the many notes that race across the palate. All the elements are so well balanced. Space Cadet is mostly Syrah and some Grenache, but the Grenache really seems to drive the profile today. (Antonio Galloni)
    JD95+95+ pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 8/29/2022
A 65/35 split of Syrah and Grenache from the Bien Nacido and Larner vineyards, the 2020 Space Cadet reveals an almost opaque ruby/purple hue to go with a rocking nose of red, blue, and black fruits as well as ground pepper, violets, and some gamey, meaty nuances. It’s full-bodied on the palate, has a wealth of fruit, plenty of tannins, and a great finish. It’s going to benefit from a year or two in the cellar and drink brilliantly over the following decade. (Jeb Dunnuck)
    RP9393 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 8th Dec 2022
The 2020 Space Cadet comes from 20- to 30-year-old vines at Bien Nacido and Larner vineyards and is a blend of 65% Syrah and 35% Grenache. It was matured in 57% new French oak and concrete eggs for 22 months. Medium ruby-purple, it’s reticent then floral, unfolding to violet, powdered sugar, black raspberries and cherries. The full-bodied palate is chalky with powerful, ripe fruit, rounded acidity and a long finish with spicy accents. 144 cases were made. (Erin Brooks)

  7. Booker Fracture

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#57882

    JD9898 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 9/1/2020
Another magical wine, the 2018 Fracture is based on 100% Syrah brought up in new and used French oak. Deep purple-hued, with beautiful notes of crème de cassis, blackberries, vanilla bean, toasted spices, white flowers, and a hints of charcuterie, this beauty hits the palate with full-bodied richness, perfectly integrated oak, a rounded, lush mouthfeel, and a great finish. This unabashedly Paso Robles Syrah brings loads of fruit yet stays balanced, elegant, and is simply a thrill to drink. (Jeb Dunnuck)
    VN9797 pts. - Vinous - Dec 2020
Youthful purple. Heady, spice-accented aromas of blackberry, blueberry cherry liqueur and pungent flowers show excellent clarity and energetic lift. Sappy and penetrating on the palate, displaying sharply defined black/blue fruit, violet pastille, cola and exotic spice flavors that turn livelier as the wine opens up. Finishes extremely long, smoky and minerally, with powerful, spicy thrust, a repeating floral note and gently chewy, polished tannins.
    RP94+94–96+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 6th Feb 2020
A barrel sample of 100% Syrah aging in 65% new French oak, the deep purple-black colored 2018 Fracture has a nose of tar, loamy earth, grilled meats, roasted lamb, rosemary and thyme with loads of violet perfume, mint chocolate and coffee bean aromas — this is already incredibly layered. It’s full-bodied and silky, slowly unfurling to spicy, floral-tinged blue fruits. It has an excellent frame with plush tannins and incredibly surprising freshness, finishing very long and very dense. Around 2,500 cases will be made.

    VN9696 pts. - Vinous - Oct 2021
A rich, effusive wine, the 2019 Chardonnay Sanford & Benedict offers a stunning expression of this site. All the classic S&B signatures come through, kicked up with an extra touch of textural richness. Creamy and silky in the glass, the 2019 is outrageously beautiful. Lemon confit, marzipan, white flowers and tangerine oil are some of the many notes that build in a soft, silky Chardonnay that dazzles from start to finish. Impressive. (Antonio Galloni)

  10. Cambria Tepusquet Vineyard Syrah

    VN9494 pts. - Vinous - Sep 2018
The 2015 Syrah Tepusquet Vineyard is the most impressive wine in the range today. Powerful, dense and explosive, the 2015 pulses with both energy. An exotic mélange of inky dark fruit, creme de cassis, lavender, black pepper and spice builds as this striking wine shows off its pedigree.
    JD9191 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - October 15, 2018
The only Syrah I was able to taste from this estate was the 2015 Syrah Tepusquet. It’s a smoky, meaty, barbecue-scented beauty that has lots of pepper and dark fruits, medium to full body, a ripe, sexy texture, and a great finish. It has ample character and will keep for 5–6 years. (Jeb Dunnuck)

  11. Chanin Los Alamos Vineyard Pinot Noir

    2017 / 750 ml. | Item#50868

    JD9595 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - October 31, 2019
Slightly lighter colored, the 2017 Pinot Noir Los Alamos Vineyard comes from sandy soils and was 80% destemmed and brought up in 10% new French oak. Beautiful rose petal and spring flower notes as well as hints of sweet strawberry and cherry all flow to an ethereal, medium-bodied, silky Pinot Noir that has ultra-fine tannins, perfect balance, and a beautiful finish. It’s a fabulous effort that relies more on finesse, elegance, and purity than power and richness. (Jeb Dunnuck)
    RP9393 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 12th Sep 2019
The 2017 Pinot Noir Los Alamos Vineyard has a pale to medium ruby color and classic nose of woodsmoke, cola, cranberry, rhubarb, wild blackberries, oolong tea, dried strawberry and amaro. It’s light to medium-bodied, with ripe, spicy fruits, a beautiful silky texture and supporting frame of juicy acidity with grainy tannins and a very long, spicy finish. 447 cases produced.
    WE9393 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/31/2019
Candied cherry, mint leaves, thyme-flecked earth and a hint of toasted wood show on the nose of this bottling. The palate is fresh and yet savory, showing roasted cranberry and raspberry alongside wild tarragon and sagebrush flavors.
    VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Sep 2019
The 2017 Pinot Noir Los Alamos Vineyard is a gorgeous wine that is also very expressive of this site. Light, airy and beautifully perfumed, with exquisite finesse to boot, the 2017 is a real winner. The 10–15% whole clusters add aromatic nuance without marking the wine to a significant degree. This is an especially ethereal, but very pretty, wine from Gavin Chanin. Dried cherry, sweet tobacco, mint and dried flowers grace the silky, inviting finish.

    2021 / 750 ml. | Item#59144

    JD92+92–94 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 8/29/2022
The only barrel sample I was able to taste, the 2021 GSM Santa Barbara County showed beautifully, and if this wine is any indication, this estate didn’t miss a beat in 2021. Giving up pretty blue fruits, peppery herbs, and sappy flower nuances, it’s medium to full-bodied, has terrific tannins, and an elegant yet textured style that will drink nicely right out of the gate. (Jeb Dunnuck)
    SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2023
Plush and savory, with sleek raspberry, orange-tinged mocha and smoked pepper flavors that build richness and structure toward refined tannins. Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Drink now through 2030. 1,350 cases made. (Tim Fish)
    VN91+91–93 pts. - Vinous - Aug 2022
The 2021 GSM is a promising wine. Deep and beautifully layered in the glass, with terrific vibrancy, the GSM is marked by gorgeous purity in its red/purplish fruit and terrific balance. It is the only 2021 that had been racked at the time of my visit, but also a wine that portends well for the vintage if its representative of quality across the range. (Antonio Galloni)

    2012 / 750 ml. | Item#41966

    RP9595 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 27th Aug 2015
Probably the longest-lived wine in the vintage from Santa Barbara, Jonata’s 630-case 2012 El Desafio de Jonata checks in as a blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Cabernet Franc, 15% Petit Verdot and 5% Merlot that saw 80% new French oak. It reveals a masculine, meaty, structured personality as well as rockin’ notes of blackcurrants, wood smoke, lead pencil shavings and crushed rock. Full-bodied, balanced and with building tannic grip, it still shows the suppleness of the vintage, but needs 2–3 years to even start to be drinkable. It will have 2–3 decades of longevity.
    VN9494 pts. - Vinous - Aug 2015
The Cabernet Sauvignon-based 2012 El Desafio de Jonata graces the palate with its sensual personality. Raspberry jam, pomegranate, leather, smoke, spice and tobacco all blossom in the glass. Big, rich and inviting, the 2012 boasts superb intensity and resonance, although it doesn’t quite have the visceral thrill of the very best wines in this range. Shades of rose petal and mint add the closing shades of nuance. The 2012 was aged in French oak, 80% new.

    2012 / 750 ml. | Item#41967

    RP9393 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 27th Aug 2015
A great wine, the 2012 Todos Proprietary Red Wine offers terrific notes of black and red raspberry fruits, toasted bread and spice. As it sat in the glass, more classic Syrah olive, bacon and a touch of violet all developed. Medium to full-bodied, juicy, mouthfilling and loaded with sweet fruit, it doesn’t skimp on structure and will have at least a decade of longevity. Think of this as a mini-La Sangre. The blend here is 75% Syrah with 7% each of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, and the balance a mix of varieties.
    VN9393 pts. - Vinous - Aug 2015
The 2012 Todos, Jonata’s Syrah-based blend, is once again delicious. A touch of appassimento gives the 2012 an extra kick of flavor and texture intensity. Sweet cherry, raspberry jam, spice, mint and licorice notes abound in this racy, bold red. Todos is Jonata’s least expensive red wine, but it competes quite favorable with the higher-end bottlings. The 2012 was aged mostly in larger-format French oak barrels, with 40% new wood.

A blend of 40% Mourvedre, 30% Grenache and 30% Syrah, the 2013 Cote a Cote is a classic Rhone blend from Paso that has lots of blackberry, cassis, ground pepper and damp earth aromatics, full-bodied richness and both good acidity and tannic grip. Showing more complex floral characteristics and chalky minerality with time in the glass, it can be enjoyed now or cellared for a decade.
    VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Sep 2015
Opaque ruby. A complex, highly perfumed bouquet evokes ripe red fruits, smoky Indian spices, vanilla and minerals. Concentrated but lithe on the palate, offering intense raspberry and bitter cherry flavors underscored by a suave floral note. The spicy quality comes back emphatically on a long, sweet finish framed by slow-building, harmonious tannins.
