When one thinks of the great wine regions of Italy, Tuscany is one of the first to come to mind. Tuscan wines embody the hilly, sun-kissed terroir, producing generous and fleshy red wines and a few notable white wines.
The dominant red grape in Tuscan wines is Sangiovese. From Chanti in a traditional fiasco (straw basket), to the majestic wines of Chianti Classico, Bolgheri, and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, and the king of all Tuscan wines Brunello di Montalcino, Sangiovese found a home to achieve perfect ripeness, flavor, and character.
Other great wines of Tuscany are the wines we refer to as "Super Tuscans." These wines combine the skill of Italian winemaking with internationally planted grape varieties, such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah. These grapes also thrive in the soil and climate of Tuscany.

It’s zesty and wickedly fresh, with vibrant acidity and wild citrus notes that excite the senses. The 2022 finishes floral and crisp, showcasing nectarine hints. VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2023 A lovely bouquet of lavender, violets and crushed blackberries rises from the 2021 Sangiovese Da-Di. This washes across the palate with an intense wave of fleshy ripe fruits, all balanced by a salty flourish of minerality and tantalizing acidity. The 2021 finishes with grippy concentration yet remains fresh, with blue- and purple-toned inner florals that linger. The Da-di is a varietal Sangiovese that’s refined in amphora, where about one-third of the grapes are left in whole clusters through fermentation. This is an incredibly fun wine to taste. VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2023 The 2018 Nobile di Montepulciano is pretty and understated in the glass, wafting up with a mix of black currants, savory herbs and worn leather hints. This is round with a balanced inner sweetness, displaying mineral-tinged wild berry fruit and nuances of confectionary spice. The 2018 leaves only a gentle coating of fine tannins while finishing with citrus nuances and a hint of hard red candies. The Avignonesi style lent quite well to this warm and rainy vintage; as a result, they created a very delicate yet likable Nobile. (Eric Guido)
