You say Syrah, and I say Shiraz. Wine lovers will tell you they're the same grape, just from different settings. The Australian red wine, Shiraz, burst onto the scene in the 1990's and remains popular to this day, and it's hard to believe it's made from the same grape that's used to make the famous red wines of France's Northern Rhône. Thanks to the vastly different climates and terroir in those two places, the grape produces vastly different wines.

Other regions are having some success with Syrah/Shiraz wine, as well. California, South Africa, Chile, and others have created some stellar bottles in recent years.

If you're in the market for a red wine - Shiraz, Syrah...whatever you want to call it - look no further than WineMadeEasy.com!

    Estate Grown McDowell Valley Syrah
    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#55428

    RP9696 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 3rd Jun 2021
The 2018 Gibson Block Syrah comes from very old vines interplanted with other varieties like Grenache, Trousseau Noir and Mission. They are dry-farmed, picked together and co-fermented. It has a deep ruby-purple color and deep, layered aromas of tar, earth, blackcurrant liqueur, cast iron and dried violets. The full-bodied palate bursts with juicy acidity, sparks of Luxardo cherry and a silky, rounded mouthfeel. It finishes very long and perfumed.

The 2018 Syrah Estate Gibson Block is positively stellar. These old, dry-farmed vines yield a Syrah that is intensely bold and savory. Dark blue/black fruit, tobacco, cedar, licorice, tobacco and dried flowers open with a bit of coaxing. Readers will find a heady, tannic Syrah built for aging. Time in the glass brings out notable finesse, but I would be in no rush here.
