  1. Hudson Chardonnay

    2021 / 750 ml. | Item#59797

    SP9494 pts. - Wine Spectator - Jul 31, 2023
Impressive for the generous, plump flavors and the restraint and elegance of the candied ginger peel, briny preserved lemon, peppery white flower and buttery peach pastry flavors on a plush frame. Reveals a juicy thread of acidity. Drink now. 1,638 cases made. (MaryAnn Worobiec)
    RP92+92–94 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Mar 2023
Tasted as a tank sample prior to bottling, the barrel-fermented 2021 Chardonnay Hudson Vineyard displays a full-bodied, rich, custardy mouthfeel that easily carries the bold flavors of pineapple, white peach and citrus. It’s a blend of several blocks and sees approximately 60% new French oak. (Joe Czerwinski)

    VN9696 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2023
The 2021 Chardonnay Trout Gulch Vineyard is a model of precision and class. Pure and crystalline, the 2021 is superb. I would give it a few years to settle down, but all the elements are in place. Lemon peel, chalk, mint, white flowers, sage and crushed rocks abound in this striking, riveting Chardonnay. The 2021 is just pristine. This is what Trout Gulch Chardonnay is all about. (Antonio Galloni)

  3. Domaine Eden Cabernet Sauvignon

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#60751

    VN9494 pts. - Vinous - May 2022
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon is the wine to focus on in this range in 2018. Dark and brooding, the 2018 is such a classic Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet. It offers up copious black fruit, dried herbs, chocolate, lavender and underbrush, all in a super-classic, mid-weight style that is hugely appealing. This might very well be the best value in artisan, high-end California Cabernet. (Antonio Galloni)
    WE9494 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 11/1/2022
Subtle aromas of dark cherry, toasted mahogany and roasted nut are very balanced on the nose of this bottling. The palate offers incense and potpourri flavors against a fresh red-fruit element. On the spicy, peppery finish, the leathery tannins continue their grip. (Matt Kettmann)

  4. Shafer Red Shoulder Ranch Chardonnay

    2021 / 750 ml. | Item#58426

    WE9595 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 3/1/2023
This full-bodied and beautifully balanced wine is powered by energized fruit acidity, giving it a lively mouthfeel, vivid green apple and lemon zest flavors and a snappy finish, while subtle oak notes remain secondary. Fermented in oak barrels and stainless barrels, and matured without maloactic conversion, the wine is super refreshing, clean and mouth-watering and should only get more complex and smooth with time. Best from 2024–2031. (Jim Gordon)
    RP9393 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Mar 2023
Always an impressive bottling, the 2021 Chardonnay Red Shoulder Ranch was barrel fermented in a 75% new French oak and 25% stainless steel. Boasting fabulous aromas of lemon curd, apple, pear and pencil shavings, this non-malolactic Chardonnay is full-bodied, round and generous on the palate, then crisp and refreshing on the finish. If it’s not as complex or rich as the very best Chardonnays California has to offer, it’s not that far behind, and the pricing and availability (6000 cases produced) remain reasonable for a wine of this quality. 5. Mount Eden Vineyards Estate Bottled Cabernet Sauvignon

    2017 / 750 ml. | Item#57543

    VN9797 pts. - Vinous - May 2022
The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is going to need a number of years to come around. The only question is how many. In 2017, the Mount Eden Cabernet is shockingly opulent. Inky black fruit, bittersweet chocolate, spice, leather and incense are all dialed up in this super-sized Cabernet. Even so, there is plenty of structure lurking beneath. I can’t wait to see how this ages.
    JD9797 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 12/21/2021
A brilliant, youthful, unevolved wine that will give Ridge’s Monte Bello a run for its money, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon reveals a deep ruby/purple hue to go with a wonderful perfume of blackcurrants, blueberries, lead pencil, vanilla bean, exotic flowers, tobacco, and bouquet garni. Needing plenty of air to show at its best, it’s medium to full-bodied on the palate and has a concentrated, powerful style, ripe tannins, flawless balance, and a great finish. A blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot and Malbec, aged in used French and American oak, it’s going to benefit from 4–6 years of bottle age and, I suspect, have 30–40 years of overall longevity. (Jeb Dunnuck)
    SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - Feb 28, 2022
This has a zesty set of loganberry, raspberry and sweet bay leaf notes mixed together, along with flashes of violet, mesquite and anise. There’s a good tug of warm gravel running underneath and nice energy throughout. Should mellow nicely with cellaring. Best from 2024 through 2034. 1,285 cases made.
    WE9292 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/1/2021
Balanced aromas of redwood and pine give depth to the asphalt and leather elements on the nose of this bottling. The American oak seems prominent on the dense, leathery palate, where dark and dried fruits play along with sandalwood and mahogany flavors.
    WS9292 pts. - Wine & Spirits - 12/21
This is a staunch mountain wine that needs a day of air to come out of its shell. It’s all hard edges at first, not so much about fruit, though the fruit is present; not inviting, but it leaves room for you to come inside. As the wine begins to relax, it feels like an old-fashioned cabernet with woodland flavors of mountain fruit and savory wild mushrooms. Powerful in its youthful structure, it needs a decade in the cellar for that structure to evolve.

  6. Ridge Estate Cabernet Sauvignon

    Monte Bello Vineyard
    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#57473

    VN9292 pts. - Vinous - May 2022
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate offers a hugely appealing mix of fruit richness married to the savory, structured style that is the Ridge signature. The 2019 is beautifully exotic, but natural without the volume of the Monte Bello. I imagine it will drink splendidly with minimal cellaring. Succulent red cherry, blood orange, mint, cinnamon and pomegranate. (Antonio Galloni)
    SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 15, 2022
Distinctive, with a burst of singed vanilla and savory leading off, followed by dark plum and blackberry puree notes that stream through. Shows singed mesquite and a sanguine note as this unfolds. Sleek, tight-grained finish. Best from 2023 through 2033. 6,800 cases made. (James Molesworth)

  7. Ridge Monte Bello

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#59092

    JS9999 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Wednesday, November 16, 2022
This is a very powerful Monte Bello with currants and blackberry, black licorice and smoked meat. Mint. Some sesame seed, too. It’s full-bodied with incredible darkness and saltiness like volcanic salt. Umami. Grilled seaweed. Flavorful and captivating. It goes on for minutes. Try after 2025, but this may age forever.
    VN9898 pts. - Vinous - May 2022
The 2019 Monte Bello is a wild, exotic wine. Huge, soaring aromatics meld into a core of heady, exotically ripe fruit. Not a shy wine by any means, the 2019 is atypically opulent, and yet all of the classic Monte Bello structure is there, underneath all of that fruit. The 2019 needs time in bottle to shed its baby fat, but there is a lot to look forward to. I imagine it will always be a pretty exuberant wine. Inky red fruit, blood orange, espresso, sweet American oak, cedar and pipe tobacco leave a lasting impression. In a word: magnificent! (Antonio Galloni)
    SP9595 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 15, 2022
This has a densely packed core of vivid red and black currant and mulberry fruit, which is encased for now in a mix of charcoal, cast iron, singed mesquite and apple wood. Shows terrific drive, though, and everything is in proportion, with an echo of violet hinting at some inner purity. This will just need time to unwind. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2024 through 2040. 5,700 cases made. (James Molesworth)
    JD9595 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 8/29/2022
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Monte Bello is a more Cabernet Sauvignon-dominated blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot, and the balance Cabernet Franc, all hitting 13.7% alcohol. As usual, it was aged in new American oak. It shows the higher Cabernet component and is deep purple-hued and tight and closed, with a primordial vibe to its dark blue and black fruit, smoked tobacco, vanilla bean, graphite, and cedarwood aromatics. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it has terrific overall balance, building, ripe tannins, a good sense of freshness, and outstanding length. It reminds me slightly of the 2018 with its more elegant, streamlined profile, but I expect this to build with bottle age, and it should have 2–3 decades of overall longevity. (Jeb Dunnuck)

  8. Bedrock Gibson Ranch Heritage

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#55342

    VN9797 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2021
The 2019 Gibson Ranch Heritage Wine is sourced from the oldest vines on the ranch, which date back to the 1880s. Quite unusually for a field blend, the Gibson Ranch is based on Grenache rather than on the far more common Zinfandel or Mataro. The aromatics, lifted by 20% whole clusters, are captivating. Blood orange, apricot, ginger, inky dark fruit and mint lend compelling inner sweetness and pliancy throughout. There is feeling of wildness in the Gibson Ranch that is impossible to miss. The Gibson Ranch will take adventurous readers for quite a ride. It is one of the most alluring and exotic wines in this range from Bedrock. Don’t miss it!

  9. Cakebread Cellars Chardonnay Reserve

    2020 / 750 ml. | Item#58424

    RP8989 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Mar 2023
Cakebread’s 2020 Chardonnay Reserve was entirely barrel fermented, with aging taking place in a mix of French oak (33% new), concrete and larger, neutral oak. It features gentle pineapple, lime and custardy notes on the nose, while the palate is medium-bodied, plump and appealing. A tasty, lip-smacking Chardonnay, if only this had more intensity of flavor and length on the finish… (Joe Czerwinski)

  11. Domaine Eden Cabernet Sauvignon

    2017 / 750 ml. | Item#55791

    VN9494 pts. - Vinous - Sep 2020
The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is fabulous. A rush of floral and spice notes leads into a core of racy purplish fruit. Lavender, sage, mint and a whole range of savory Cabernet aromatics play off the natural richness of the year so well. The 2017 is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon from Domaine Eden plus non-estate vineyards in Los Gatos and Saratoga, along with Merlot and Cabernet Franc from Mount Eden. That blend works so well. I loved it for its power and density. More importantly, the 2017 is a huge overachiever and a screaming value.
    WE9393 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/1/2021
Dark and brooding aromas of black plum and elderberry meet with oak, mahogany and loamy soils on the nose of this bottling. The wine is extremely structured on the sip, with elements of chiseled graphite, lava rock and pencil shavings, as well as those dark fruits and spicy woods. Drink now through 2034.

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#59193

    WE9797 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/1/2022
Kosta Browne is taking great care of this former Saintsbury vineyard source. A brilliant vein of black cherries and sour cherries weaves through black tea, redwood duff and subtle oak spices in this medium- to full-bodied wine, as dazzling acidity and moderate tannins energize the palate. Great balance and impressive depth make it stand out. Best from 2025–2032. (Jim Gordon)
    RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 14th Jul 2022
Medium ruby, the 2019 Pinot Noir Cerise Vineyard is rustic to begin, with accents of tar, tobacco and bay leaves over an intense core of dark red fruit. The palate is full-bodied with abundant, gently chewy tannins, bright freshness and a long, earth-laced finish. (Erin Brooks)
    SP8888 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2022
Boasts a core of sassafras as well as mulled blackberry and raspberry fruit, with a twinge of bramble along the edges and a spine of fresh acidity lending definition. Drink now through 2023. 1,400 cases made. (James Molesworth)

  14. Rhys Horseshoe Vineyard Pinot Noir

    2017 / 750 ml. | Item#54831

    VN9494 pts. - Vinous - Oct 2019
The 2017 Pinot Noir Horseshoe Vineyard is one of the most distinctive wines in this range and also one of the Pinots that seemed to deal with the rigors of the growing season particularly well. Deep, mysterious and resonant, the 2017 has so much to say. Sweet tobacco, grilled herbs, menthol, licorice and earthy notes meld into a core of black cherry and plum fruit. The 2017 has a distinctive savory quality, even though it was made with fully destemmed fruit.
    RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 6th Feb 2020
The 2017 Pinot Noir Horseshoe Vineyard has a pale to medium ruby-purple color with scents of dried orange peel, cranberry, rose petal, potpourri, wild blackberries, black cherries, oolong tea leaves, tobacco and peppery notes. The light to medium-bodied palate is savory with firm, grainy tannins, good freshness and a spicy finish.

  15. Ridge Monte Bello

    2017 / 1.5 L. | Item#54754

    JD100100 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 8/29/2020
Pure perfection, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Monte Bello is a sensational effort from this estate that should be snatched up by drinkers and collectors. Based on 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot, and the rest Cabernet Franc that was brought up mostly in new American oak, this saturated purple-hued beauty is legendary Monte Bello in the making and has a stunning yet primordial bouquet of crème de cassis, lead pencil shavings, graphite, chocolate, and chalky minerality. Full-bodied, incredibly powerful, and one of the most concentrated versions of this cuvée ever made (I’ve had most of them), it needs a solid decade of bottle age and will have 50–60 years of overall longevity. Despite the long drinking window, it offers plenty of pleasure even today. I followed this bottle for two days and it showed best right out of the gate, closing down and becoming more brooding and backward with air. It’s an incredible wine that I promise you won’t regret having in your cellar. (Jeb Dunnuck)
    RP9898 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 4th Apr 2021
The 2017 Monte Bello is ultra powerful and concentrated, unfurling over the several days it was open to reveal rich cassis, roast plums, tar, aniseed and exotic spices. What sets the palate apart is its purity: though incredibly layered, it offers a kaleidoscopic journey from blackcurrant to tobacco and dried flowers, offering continual sparks of flavor long after the wine has been swallowed. Structurally, it has the firm but ripe tannins and seamless freshness to dictate a very long life in the cellar. This vintage is a blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot and 4% Cabernet Franc. 3,750 cases produced.
