  3. Domaine Pierre Guillemot Savigny-Lès-Beaune Vieilles Vignes

    2020 / 750 ml. | Item#58929

    RP90+90+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 20th Jan 2022
The 2020 Savigny-lès-Beaune Vieilles Vignes represents another fine rendition of this remarkably consistent cuvée. Unfurling in the glass with notes of cherries, red berries, warm spices and sweet soil tones, it’s medium to full-bodied, lively and concentrated, with powdery tannins and a long, sapid finish. Given its structure and substance, it will amply reward at least a few years’ patience. (William Kelley)

  4. L’Ecole No. 41 Perigee

    Seven Hills Vineyard
    2017 / 750 ml. | Item#57528

    JS9595 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, June 1, 2020
This is a deep, richer palate with currants, flowers, white chocolate and some almonds. It’s full-bodied with plush tannins and a chewy finish. Yet, it’s so attractive and pretty. A blend of 50% cabernet sauvignon, 21% merlot, 11% cabernet franc, 9% petit verdot and 9% malbec. Needs more time. Try after 2022.
    JD9494 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 4/15/2020
Based on 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Franc, the rest Petit Verdot and Malbec, the 2017 Perigee Estate Seven Hills Vineyard offers more classic cassis, tobacco, and sappy herbs as well as a solid sense of minerality. Full-bodied, concentrated, and beautifully balanced as well as elegant, give it 3–5 years of bottle age and enjoy over the following two decades or more. (Jeb Dunnuck)
    VN9393 pts. - Vinous - Dec 2020
Bright, saturated ruby-red. Blackberry, boysenberry, licorice and minerals on the nose, lifted by topnotes of Tellicherry pepper and violet. Very suave, silky and smooth, conveying enticing sweetness to its refined dark berry, spice and mineral flavors. Terrific energy and delineation here, and long and suave on the rising finish, where the dusty tannins are beautifully buffered by the wine’s material. A lovely showing, even if this very juicy wine is still a bit youthfully imploded. This may be the most floral of the current red wine releases from L’Ecole.
    RP92+92+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 22nd Oct 2020
The 2017 Perigee Seven Hills Vineyard Estate is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Franc and 9% each of Petit Verdot and Malbec. The nose opens to an expressive fruit core, highlighting juicy dark red fruit and spiced blackberry essence. Aromas of cinnamon-spiced dark cherries, sweet plums and a dusty minerality sway out of the glass with elements of an exotic floral bouquet. Full-bodied, the wine shows layers and a delineated, fresh frame with succulent tannins, offering a balanced structure across the mid-palate. The mouthfeel shows finesse with a purity of fruit before lingering with persistence, vibrancy and a subtle red spice reflection over the elongated finish. This is delicious juice.
    WE9191 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 8/1/2020
Cabernet Sauvignon makes up half of this wine, with the rest Merlot (21%), Cabernet Franc (11%), Petit Verdot (9%) and Malbec (9%). Brooding aromas of cherry, plum, mocha, graphite, cherry and herb lead to medium-bodied fruit flavors, backed by tart acidity and firm, grainy tannins. The structure is lovely. It needs some time to stretch its legs, with the tannins giving a bigger impression than they often do from this vineyard. Best after 2024.

  6. Ridge Estate Cabernet Sauvignon

    Monte Bello Vineyard
    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#57473

    VN9292 pts. - Vinous - May 2022
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate offers a hugely appealing mix of fruit richness married to the savory, structured style that is the Ridge signature. The 2019 is beautifully exotic, but natural without the volume of the Monte Bello. I imagine it will drink splendidly with minimal cellaring. Succulent red cherry, blood orange, mint, cinnamon and pomegranate. (Antonio Galloni)
    SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 15, 2022
Distinctive, with a burst of singed vanilla and savory leading off, followed by dark plum and blackberry puree notes that stream through. Shows singed mesquite and a sanguine note as this unfolds. Sleek, tight-grained finish. Best from 2023 through 2033. 6,800 cases made. (James Molesworth)

A very aromatic red, offering baking spices, such as cinnamon, cloves and anisette, as well as notes of ripe blackcurrants, plums and dark chocolate. Full-bodied with soft tannins and a ripe yet vibrant and juicy fruit core. Long, warming finish. Drinkable now, but better in a few years.
    SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 31, 2022
Ripe and caressing in feel, with cassis and plum paste mixed with toasted vanilla and sweet tobacco. A subtle cedar twinge adds range on the generous finish. Drink now through 2028. 26,100 cases made. (James Molesworth)

  8. Allegrini Amarone della Valpolicella Classico

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#58825

    SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2023
A harmonious, medium- to full-bodied red structured by creamy tannins, with a zesty thread of milled pepper and anise enlivening mulled black cherry and black plum reduction. Reveals hints of stemmy herbs, dark chocolate and fresh earth that linger on the juicy finish. Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Oseleta. Drink now through 2030. 12,000 cases made, 4,600 cases imported. (Alison Napjus)
    JS9393 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, September 6, 2022
A very well-made Amarone that shows good poise and dryness on the palate, with black chocolate, cigars, dark raspberry jam, wax and graphite. Lots of silky, melted tannins on the medium-to full-bodied palate, before an elegant and dry finish. Excellent length. Sustainable. Still needs some time for extra complexity to come through. Drink after 2023. (James Suckling)

  9. Castello Banfi Brunello di Montalcino

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#60106

    VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Dec 2022
There’s a mentholated freshness to the 2018 Brunello di Montalcino Castello Banfi, as swirling unlocks further depths of dried cherries, mint leaf and worn leather. This is soft and round on the palate, with ripe red fruits and pretty floral tones offset by a twang of sour citrus. The 2018 tapers off lightly structured yet fresh, as inner rose and hints of salted licorice fade. (Eric Guido)
    JD9090 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 3/6/2023
Taking on more wood influence, the 2018 Brunello Di Montalcino is fragrant with cedar, vanillin spice, red plum, and clove. It is medium to full body, with tannins that turn to the more amaro spectrum quickly, with notes of turned potting soil and dried cherry pit. The palate is savory and gripping with potential wood tannins that give the impression they will outlast the fruit. Drink 2025–2030. (Audrey Frick)

  10. Château d’Yquem Sauternes

    2016 / 375 ml. | Item#57235

    JD9999 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 6/14/2019
The 2016 Chateau D’Yquem is pure magic and dessert wines don’t get much better. Offering a pale gold color as well as a blockbuster bouquet of honeyed tangerines, tart apricots, liquid rocks, white flowers, and honeysuckle, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, an opulent texture, vibrant acidity, and again, an incredible sense of minerality, despite having no shortage of sweetness or richness. The 2016 is a classic blend of 75% Sémillon and 25% Sauvignon that hit 14.2% alcohol with 135 grams of residual sugar. It’s already complex and approachable yet will keep for 3–4 decades. (Jeb Dunnuck)
    JS9999 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, December 3, 2019
A very classic Yquem. Breathtakingly wide spectrum of floral honey, exotic fruit (passion fruit, mango and pineapple), caramel and marzipan aromas. But none of this is a jot too much. In fact, the wine is extremely precise and finely nuanced. Wonderful freshness and textural complexity, in spite of the considerable concentration and extravagance. Very suave and sensual finish that goes on and on. Drink or hold. (James Suckling)
    RP98+98+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 29th Mar 2019
Containing 135 grams per liter of residual sugar, the pale lemon-gold colored 2016 d’Yquem leaps from the glass with honeyed apricots, pineapple, green mango, crushed rocks, candied ginger, coriander seed and citrus peel with hints of orange blossom. The palate is very tightly wound, vibrant and refreshing with layer upon layer of minerals and spices, finishing with epic poise and persistence. (Lisa Perrotti-Brown)

The 2020 Savigny-lès-Beaune Dessus Les Gollardes Blanc is lovely, wafting from the glass with scents of citrus zest, crisp green orchard fruit and struck match. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and precise, it’s vibrant and flavorful, concluding with a chalky finish. (William Kelley)

    RP9191 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 20th Jan 2022
Like its 2019 predecessor, the 2020 Savigny-lès-Beaune Grands Picotins is an unusually charming rendition of a cuvée that can sometimes be a touch structured out of the gates. Revealing aromas of cherries, raspberries, rose petals and warm spices, it’s medium to full-bodied, velvety and enveloping, with a concentrated core of fruit, powdery tannins and a long, perfumed finish. 13. Jardin de Hormigas Los Amantes Malbec

    2021 / 750 ml. | Item#60600

    RP9898 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Nov 2022
The new top-of-the-range 2021 Jardín de Hormigas Los Amantes was produced with organic grapes from plot number 15 in their Jardín Altamira property, 1.2 hectares where there are some 80 centimeters of topsoil rich in silt that gives the balance between meat and bones and then big granite rocks with limestone, the big bones. The big bones require a little more meat, so a little more soil… It fermented with 15% whole clusters and indigenous yeasts and matured in untoasted 3,500-liter French oak foudres for 15 months. It has 13.5% alcohol and keeps very good freshness and balance. This felt very different from the Appellation Altamira (which was also from a different vintage), more aromatic, with lots of flowers, with lots of layers and personality, which is impressive for vines planted in 2017. Place before age… It’s balanced and expressive, with very fine tannins and a dry finish. The place even before the variety... It’s elegant and ethereal with grip from the chalky tannins. It’s impressive how noble the variety is and how the young vines can produce a wine with this depth. SUPER ELEGANT. A great debut! 4,300 bottles were filled in May 2022. (Luis Gutiérrez)

  14. La Spinetta Barbaresco Starderi

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#59958

    JS9797 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Thursday, December 1, 2022
Beautiful aromas of plums and violets with some flint. Full-bodied. Layered and softly chewy. Meat, berry and hints of cedar and nutmeg. Flavorful finish. Solid and very together with a softness at the back of the palate. Drink in 2026 and beyond.
    RP9595 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 23rd Jun 2022
The La Spinetta 2019 Barbaresco Starderi Vürsù is perfumed and bright with dark rose and wild plum. The wine is solid and dense, with a pretty presentation of fruit that feels healthy and crunchy at the same time. The tannins are well integrated into this structured, full-bodied Barbaresco. The Starderi has shown a very consistent performance over the years. These releases from La Spinetta are all packaged in big, heavy glass bottles. (Monica Larner)
    SP9595 pts. - Wine Spectator - Dec 31, 2022
A powerful red, yet well-defined too, with strawberry, cherry, floral, mineral and tobacco aromas and flavors aligned to a muscular structure. Feels balanced overall, yet will take a few years to fully integrate. Best from 2026 through 2045. 580 cases made, 45 cases imported. (Bruce Sanderson)
