WE9393 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 5/1/2022 This violet-scented Pinot Noir is marked by plump, mouth-drenching black-cherry and plum flavors edged by licks of sweet spice and vanilla. Framed by fine, glossy tannins and a juicy spine of acidity, this immediately welcoming wine is particularly joyous young but will likely hold well through 2027. (Anna Lee C. WE9393 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 5/1/2022 Salty, mineral freshness extends from nose to finish in this ripe, broad-shouldered wine. Red-cherry and plum flavors are fleshy and concentrated on the palate, lifted by a tang of cranberry acidity and a pleasantly leafy, herbal finish. Soft in tannins and kissed with sweet spice, the wine is ready now but will likely to hold through 2029. (Anna Lee C. RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 19th Aug 2021 The 2020 Beaujolais-Villages Le Perréon is another fine success, wafting from the glass with beautifully pure aromas of cherries, raspberries, plums and peonies. Medium to full-bodied, ample and succulent, with supple tannins and an enveloping core of juicy fruit, it’s refreshing and gourmand. This head-turning bistro red is already drinking well.
SP8686 pts. - Wine Spectator - Dec 15, 2022 An effusive white marked by candied fruit flavors, with vivid acidity and citrus notes that linger. Drink now. 60,000 cases imported. (Bruce Sanderson)
VN92+92–94 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2019 The 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos du Fonteny 1er Cru, which contains 40% whole bunch fruit, has a very detailed bouquet of crushed-stone-infused, minerally fruit; hints of incense and lavender emerge with time in the glass. The palate is fresh and vibrant right from the start, offering candied tart red fruit mixed with orange zest and citrus peel, wonderful definition and such vivacity on the finish that you will beg for another sip straight away. Might this surpass the Clos Saint-Jacques this year?
WE9393 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/1/2020 This wine immediately conveys a sense of concentration with its nose of insistent, dark cherry paired with subtle tar and toast notes. The palate confirms this and presents concentrated fruit on a sinuous, elegant body with silkily woven tannins. For now the oak still casts a tarry spell but this will subside with a little more bottle age. Lovely freshness prevails.
ST92+92–95 pts. - Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar - Jan/Feb 2011 Full red-ruby. Captivating nose offers crushed cherry, rose petal, spices, smoke and vanilla. Lush, sweet and liqueur-like in the mouth, with good floral lift giving it a light touch. Really echoes with flowers and minerals. This very strong wine finishes long and subtle, with lovely mineral grip.RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 1st May 2011 The 2009 Clos St. Denis presents lovely nuance and detail in its precise, perfumed fruit. This is totally elegant from start to finish, with silky tannins that give the wine its sense of proportion and balance. The Clos St. Denis was aged in a single new 600-liter barrel. Anticipated maturity: 2014–2024.
ST92+92–95 pts. - Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar - Jan/Feb 2012 Bright, dark red. Musky black raspberry and a whiff of game on the very ripe nose. Sweeter, fatter and silkier than the Clos de la Roche; at once more concentrated and less complex in the middle. Finishes savory, tactile and gripping, with very good peppery energy. Magnien’s holding lies at the bottom of Chaffots; the vines that go into this wine are picked first, then the rest of the juice goes into the premier cru Chaffots bottling.RP92+92–94 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 22nd Dec 2011 The 2010 Clos St. Denis sweeps across the palate with layers of expressive dark red berries, licorice, tobacco and mint. This is an especially sensual, silky Clos St. Denis that seeks elegance and finesse above all else. The 2010 is truly beautiful today, but Magnien thinks it will firm up quite a bit in bottle. Anticipated maturity: 2016–2025.
RP92+92+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 8th Sep 2022 The 2020 Pouilly-Fuissé En Chatenay has turned out nicely, unfurling to reveal aromas of crisp stone fruit, white flowers, freshly baked bread, mandarin oil and confit citrus. Medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny, with bright acids and a saline finish, it sees the longest élevage of any wine in the range, with used barrels from Domaine des Comtes Lafon in Meursault.
