  1. Joh. Jos. Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr Kabinett

    2020 / 750 ml. | Item#58935

    RP9595 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 25th Aug 2022
The 2020 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Kabinett offers a discreet and sublime, complex and very elegant and slightly flinty nose with a coolish and very delicate expression of stewed apricots but also some greenish berries, whereas the first stony character remains. This irresistible and noble bouquet leads to a round and lush yet also refined and savory palate, with coolish apricot flavors on the long and sustainably salty finish that is firmly structured but elegant and highly stimulating. This is a superb, very elegant and complex, sustainably structured Sonnenuhr. This is already a great pleasure to drink, but you can keep this Kabinett for more than three decades easily. 8% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine from AP 05 22 in July 2022. 2. Joh. Jos. Prüm Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Auslese

    2020 / 750 ml. | Item#56304

    RP9797 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 25th Aug 2022
The 2020 Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Auslese opens with an intense bouquet of super ripe and concentrated, healthy shriveled raisins and overripe Riesling berries with very fine slate and flinty notes in the background. On the palate, the Zeltinger Auslese is clear, precise and crystalline, showing concentrated, saline and savory rather than sweet fruit brought to the dance by this delicate, crystal clear and mouth-watering acidity that make this a beautiful, already digestible Auslese whose bouquet and taste are aromatically two different worlds but logical. The fruit was shriveled in perfect condition, and the juice that came out reflects exactly this: freshness, precision and perfect ripeness. A fabulous Auslese from the "neighboring" Sonnenuhr. 7% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine from AP 17 21 in July 2022. (Stephan Reinhardt)

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#54721

    RP95+95+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Oct 2020
From 80- to 90+-year-old vines in the original plot below the sundial, the 2019 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese is very precise and fresh on the flinty, slatey and crisp fruit bouquet. Juicy-piquant and sweet on the palate, this is a tight and crispy, very intense yet still sulfuric Spätlese from a really great terroir. The fruit is still fresh and precise and was picked together with the dry GG selection, which is picked from the inner part with a higher acidity, whereas the Spätlese is from the outside berries that have more ripeness. The 2019 should be aged for at least 10 years. Tasted at the domain in September 2020.

    2020 / 750 ml. | Item#56302

    RP9696 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 25th Aug 2022
The 2020 Graacher Himmelreich Spätlese offers a remarkably coolish, very bright, precise and delicate nose of very fine Riesling fruit and flinty slate aromas. Saline, perfectly round and refined on the palate, this is a filigreed but lush and oh-so-delicate and airy, virtually celestial Himmelreich with crystalline, highly delicate acidity. This is a pristine, light yet long and saline, incredibly frisky and elegant Mosel Spätlese whose clarity and finesse is mind-blowing. An incomparable beauty. 7.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine from AP 02 22 in July 2022. (Stephan Reinhardt)
    JS9595 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Thursday, November 10, 2022
The concentrated and almost enveloping peach and apricot fruit, together with the racy acidity and the enormous herbal and mineral freshness, make this a dazzling Spatlese. Very pure finish, with a delicate note of floral honey, but only a hint of sweetness. Drink or hold. (James Suckling)

  5. Weingut Max Ferd. Richter Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese

    2020 / 750 ml. | Item#55737

    RP9595 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 9th Dec 2021
From vines about 100 years old from a parcel below the sundial, just down the Moselle, and aged in fuder, the 2020 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese is deep, intense and complex but also subtle on the refined and elegant, almost ethereal nose that intermingles perfectly ripe and healthy fruit aromas with notes of crushed stones. Lush and piquant on the palate with some fine tannins and very discreet new(er) oak notes, this is a vibrantly fresh and stimulatingly salty, well-structured WSU that is still far too young to show its true merits. Yet everything here—most of all its energy and incredible tension and salinity—indicates a great future. 7.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted from AP 1721 in November 2021. (Stephan Reinhardt)

  6. Weingut Max Ferd. Richter Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Kabinett

    2021 / 750 ml. | Item#58385

    RP93+93+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 25th Aug 2022
The 2021 Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Kabinett offers a clear, precise and pure, lovely slate-driven bouquet with citric fruit and some cassis and gooseberry aromas. Crystalline, linear and fresh on the palate, this is an elegant, lush and silky-textured, precise and almost sharp but also round and finely sweet Kabinett from the Himmelreich that shows red and black currant notes on the aftertaste. A gorgeous Kabinett that has to be aged for 10–15 years. Sourced from 80-year-old vines on pure gray slate. Bottled with a spectacular total acidity of 12 grams per liter, but you don’t feel the grams of acidity; and believe me, it’s serious but balanced by extract and almost 50 grams per liter of residual sugar. 7.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in July 2022. (Stephan Reinhardt)

    2021 / 750 ml. | Item#58383

    RP94+94+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 25th Aug 2022
Picked from 80- to 90-year-old vines with the fruit at around 75° to 76° Oechsle, Richter’s 2021 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Kabinett offers pure yet intense and concentrated, flinty-scented fruit with citrus and red cassis aromas. Round and savory on the palate, with crystalline acidity and perfectly round fruit, this is an elegant and refined WSU with redcurrant notes on the saline finish. The acidity is fine but everything else is shy except for the great expression of the blue slate in the Sonnenuhr. 7.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in July 2022. 2020 / 750 ml. | Item#56794

    RP8989 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 13th Oct 2022
The 2020 Riesling trocken offers a clear, fine and spicy/slatey bouquet of ripe, brazen fruit. Round and fresh on the palate, this is a ripe, structured and saline Riesling with remarkable intensity from the first palate to the finish. Quite impressive for the first dry Riesling I have ever tasted from this iconic domaine in Ürzig, whose wines are vinified by Johannes Selbach from Selbach-Oster. 12% stated alcohol. Screw-cap closure. Tasted in September 2022 (from AP 003 21). (Stephan Reinhardt)

  9. Dr. Loosen Riesling BA

    2006 / 187 ml. | Item#28342

    WS9494 pts. - Wine & Spirits - December 1, 2007
The “lightest” of four Loosen BAs in 2006, this is a special release in 187-ml bottles. It’s all from Bernkasteler Lay, harvested from early developing botrytis, which creates more elegant, less opulent tones. That has resulted in a BA of remarkable grace and purity, archetypal Mosel in its delicate balance and lithe definition.
    SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - Apr 30, 2008
Gorgeous aromas of apricot, lime zest and freesia introduce this elegant dessert white. With its airy texture and weightlessness, it wears the sweetness and acidity effortlessly, with a very clean finish. Drink now through 2035.
    WE9393 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/15/2007
Made from an early picking of botrytized grapes from the Bernkasteler Lay vineyard, this is a sweet, plump wine, filled to the brim with lush tropical fruit flavors. The aromas show remarkably pure pear and pineapple scents, with just a touch of dried apricots but also a sense of slate-driven minerality. With 300 cases imported, it should prove relatively easy to find.
    RP8989 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 1st Oct 2008
So bountiful in sugar was this vintage, that not only did Dr. Loosen render Beerenauslese from most of the estate’s major vineyards, there is also a highly-affordable generic 2006 Riesling Beerenauslese. This displays a lovely dynamic of lemon and honey, a creamy richness, subtle suggestions of floral and herbal distillate, and the sort of polish, refinement, and well-judged residual sugar one expects from this great estate. If not terribly complex, it will hopefully serve over the coming decade as a window for many wine enthusiasts (especially as diners) to the unique balance and virtues (not least versatility) of nobly sweet Mosel wine. “My grandfather would have said ‘Too much Beerenauslese? Impossible!’” relates Loosen. “But in fact that’s how it was this year.” (And hard though this would have been to believe only until recently, one cannot rule out there being another such bumper crop of botrytized, mega-Oechsle Riesling.)

The 2020 Bernkasteler Badstube Spätlese opens with a concentrated, finely flinty/mineral bouquet of fully ripe and slightly stewed stone fruits intermingled with iodine nuances. Dense and lush on the palate and provided with ripe, crystalline and imbedded salinity, this is a mouth-filling and quite intense Spätlese that is already accessible. 7.5% stated alcohol. RP95+95+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 25th Aug 2022
The 2020 Bernkasteler Lay Auslese opens with a clear, intense and fascinating floral bouquet with (honey) blossom aromas intermingled with refreshing mineral notes of crushed stones. Round and mouth-filling yet very fine and elegant on the palate, this is a weightless Auslese with savory, crystalline and precise acidity that carries this beautifully digestible Auslese to a fine and aromatic finish. 7% stated alcohol. 2020 / 750 ml. | Item#56303

    RP9696 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 25th Aug 2022
The 2020 Graacher Himmelreich Auslese is discreet and remarkably coolish on the dense and lemon-scented nose compared to Zeltingen and Bernkastel. White peach and nectarine aromas intertwined with coolish broken slate aromas make this a savory and irresistible Auslese, even though, or exactly because of it, this is so discreet and only subversively erotic on the nose. The palate then reveals stunning lightness and finesse based on a filigreed structure and highly refined and zesty acidity. This is almost weightless, but it has a sweet core that materializes the fruit, whereas in the transcendental Zeltinger Sonnenuhr, it’s more of an idea. 7% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine from AP 19 21 in July 2022. (Stephan Reinhardt)
    SP9494 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 31, 2022
This feels like it’s holding back a little on the floral, apricot, lime and slate flavors. Light-bodied and graceful, this is well-structured and focused on the lingering finish. Reveals just a touch of earthiness that should disappear with aeration (as this did) or age. Best from 2024 through 2045. 110 cases imported. (Bruce Sanderson)

    2020 / 750 ml. | Item#56297

    RP9898 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 25th Aug 2022
The 2020 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Auslese is intense and complex on the still introverted but complex nose that shows clear, bright fruit aromas (baby pineapple) intermingled with fine, flinty slate notes. What an aristocratic appearance! Round, crystalline and saline on the palate, this 2020 Auslese is much more openhearted and fruity as well as frisky and frivolous than it pretends to be on the nose. This is a really Catholic Riesling or a picture-book Wehlener Sonnenuhr Auslese. Its finish, however, is Protestant: rigorously linear, straight and with serious structure and grip. All in all, this is the world’s most ecumenical Sonnenuhr. Pure fascination. 7% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine from AP 38 21 in July 2022. (Stephan Reinhardt)

    2020 / 750 ml. | Item#56296

    JS9696 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Thursday, November 10, 2022
This Spatlese beams you up to Cloud 9, from where you have a wonderful view over the beautiful Mosel Valley. In spite of the considerable concentration, this is super-delicate and precise on the barely medium-bodied palate. Enormously long finish, where you barely feel the natural grape sweetness. Drink or hold. (James Suckling)
    RP95+95+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 25th Aug 2022
The 2020 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese is pure, clear and flinty on the concentrated nose that is reminiscent of a fresh fruit salad served on a slate plate on an early summer morning. Light, lush and highly finessed but seriously structured on the palate, this is a savory, very clear and elegant Sonnenuhr Spätlese with great precision and finesse and highly stimulating salinity and mouth-watering grip on the finish. The acidity is crystalline and very delicate, making this another great Mosel Spätlese from the 2020 vintage. 7.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine from AP 37 21 in July 2022. (Stephan Reinhardt)
    SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 31, 2022
An energetic, well-built wine, with juicy peach, fleshy lychee and guava flavors set against fine mineral and racy acidity. Delivers a flash of ginger, which adds nice warmth to the zesty finish. Drink now through 2040. 160 cases imported. (Bruce Sanderson)

  15. Weingut Max Ferd. Richter Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#54714

    JS9696 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, April 12, 2021
Plenty of exotic-fruit character from botrytis, but they haven’t made this refined Auslese loud, only more complex and tantalizing. Considerable concentration, but everything fits together so neatly that it comes off as restrained. Very complex, almost dry finish with a hint of vanilla pod. Delicious now, but so much aging potential. Drink or hold.
    RP95+95+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Oct 2020
From the overripe and botrytized berries of the Spätlese selection, the 2019 Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese is intense and concentrated on the nose, but due to the sulfuric notes, it is far from being as terroir-driven as the Spätlese or even the Kabinett. The fruit is concentrated yet piquant, fresh and elegant on the palate and pure, refined and subtle on the finish due to the crystalline acidity and finesse that represents the JSU. This is an excellent Spätlese that needs at least a decade to age to its full finesse. Tasted at the domain in September 2020.
