  1. Graham’s Late Bottled Vintage Porto

    2017 / 750 ml. | Item#51391

    WE9292 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 11/1/2022
The Port, with its luscious texture and black fruits, is impressive and dense. Black fruits are given richness and spice by the spirit and the raisin flavors. With its light structure, it is ready to drink. (Roger Voss)
    SP9191 pts. - Wine Spectator - Jul 31, 2022
Inviting, with plum cake and steeped raisin and plum notes laced with licorice snap and fruitcake accents. There’s a solid spine for support, but this is approachable now. Try decanting or even giving a touch more time in the cellar. Drink now through 2026. 50,000 cases made, 25,000 cases imported. (James Molesworth)
    WS9191 pts. - Wine & Spirits - 10/22
A fresh, schist-driven LBV, this wine’s tannins are accommodating in their softness, but still buzzing with mineral tension and energy. The cherry fruit coasts past the tannins, sweet and pleasing with the acidity of sheep’s milk cheeses.
    RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 4th Aug 2022
The 2017 Late Bottled Vintage Port is a field blend bottled in 2022 with a bar-top cork and 113 grams per liter of residual sugar after six years in cask. (There will be no 2016 Graham’s LBV.) Elegant in the mid-palate (unlike its sibling, the Dow’s), this also has good structure, but it is a much better balanced wine. The big fruit of this fine vintage shines through, rendering this rather delicious. This has persistence and focus, plus all that tasty fruit. You can’t go wrong. (Mark Squires)

  2. Dutschke The Tokay

    NV / 375 ml. | Item#25333

    RP9898 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 1st Oct 2004
The light amber-hued, unctuously-textured non-vintage The Tokay reveals a similar flavor profile to the Muscat, with perhaps more balsamic, maple syrup, and Asian spice-like characteristics. It is quite spectacular, and very sweet.
    SP9191 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2005
Sweet, but it stops short of syrupy, with a lovely caramel and brewed tea quality that lingers, along with a touch of pineapple and floral notes. Drink now.

  3. Graham’s Vintage Porto

    2003 / 750 ml. | Item#21920

    WE9696 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/31/2005
This is a great Port, from a great house. It is packed with solid, structured, rich and intense black fruit flavors. Its tannins show considerable aging potential. It is a big, ripe wine, balanced by a long, lingering dark aftertaste.
    WS9696 pts. - Wine & Spirits - December 1, 2005
An expansive chord of mineral and black fruit flavor, this vintage of Graham’s is all-enveloping in its sheer power. The tannins and the fruit strike a balance with dense, floral, purple-black flavors over crushed stone. That schisty grip of the tannin ends up feeling supple and curvaceous, defining the boundaries of the fruit rather than restricting it. The best vintage of Graham’s in recent memory, this 2003 should be drinking well from 2025 to 2046, and should live well beyond that.
    RP9595 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 1st Nov 2005
Violets, roses, spices, and candied dark fruits emanate from the glass of the murky black/purple colored 2003 Graham Vintage Port. After four days of air, this wine’s aromatics sweetened further, displaying jammy blackberry and blueberry scents. Bold, full-bodied, and expansive, the Graham benefited the most from extensive contact with air of all the 2003s tasted for this report. This opulently jammy wine assaults the palate with powerful yet soft layers of oily, candied red fruits as well as notes of tar and hints of mocha. A highly concentrated effort, it is creamy textured, suave, and reveals an admirably long finish filled with additional layers of dark fruits intermingled with spices. Projected maturity: 2030–2055.
    ST9595 pts. - Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar - Jan/Feb 2006
Deep, saturated ruby. Initially reticent aromas of dark chocolate and nuts; showed a high-pitched eucalyptus quality as it opened in the glass. Then almost shockingly huge and rich in fruit, with wonderfully lush, complex flavors of cassis, violet, minerals, spices, flowers and exotic chocolate. The tannins are seductively sweet, yet the finish boasts terrific focus, not to mention outstanding persistence. In terms of sheer palate-saturating flavor and texture, this runs a close second to Fonseca among these 2003s. For long aging.
    SP92+92–94 pts. - Wine Spectator - Jun 30, 2005
[Barrel tasting] This is big and juicy with loads of sweet and rich fruit as well as a racy tannin structure that impresses. Full-bodied, medium-sweet and long on the finish. I like this very much.

  4. Graham’s Vintage Porto

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#48598

    SP9898 pts. - Wine Spectator - Dec 31, 2018
This offers a distilled plum and boysenberry essence, with a racy feel, as spearmint and graphite notes drive through. As the finish kicks in, this turns toward the dark side, with ganache, charcoal and tar elements. Has the showy ripeness of the vintage but is backed by a decidedly dry feel on the finish, imparting a sense of precision despite the heft. Best from 2030 through 2055. 6,325 cases made.
    WE9797 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/1/2018
This finely structured wine is powered by fine tannins and rich fruits. A touch of acidity comes through the rich berry flavors and the concentration of the dark tannins. This wine will certainly age, don’t drink before 2028.
    RP9595 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 19th Jul 2018
The 2016 Vintage Port is a blend of 37% Touriga Nacional, 42% Touriga Franca and various others. It comes in with 115 grams of residual sugar. A bit bigger than Dow’s this year, this is more intense as well. The better wine of these two benchmarks seems to be this Graham’s. Tight on the finish, aromatic and very flavorful, this actually opens rather well and shows off its lovely fruit. The Dow’s will be approachable a bit earlier, perhaps, and this may reward aging even more. As always, Graham’s is wonderfully delicious. That’s one hallmark of the house. I’m not sure this is a truly great Graham’s, but at the moment, it is enticing, with plenty of potential for improvement. There were 6,325 cases produced, plus some bottles in other formats.

  5. Quinta do Noval Vintage Porto

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#48094

    SP9898 pts. - Wine Spectator - Dec 31, 2018
This is distinctive from the start, with a youthfully rambunctious display of dark currant, fig and blackberry fruit paste flavors liberally spiked with bramble, Turkish coffee and ganache notes. As the fruit pumps through the finish, a tarry spine adds a bristling, mouthwatering edge. Sports more obvious grip and is a touch drier in style than most of its peers. Best from 2035 through 2055. 6,000 cases made.
    RP9797 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 19th Jul 2018
The 2016 Vintage Port is a field blend, mostly Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinto Cão and Sousão, aged for 18 months in old wood. It comes in with 82 grams of residual sugar. This was in bottle for only about seven weeks when seen, but I made sure at least some of it had a lot of air. It looks super, with plenty of room to grow in the cellar. Christian Seely likes to say that this regular Noval and the Nacional are not better than one another, just different. In fact, I usually prefer Nacional, but in this vintage I make a case for equality and endorse that view.
    VN9494 pts. - Vinous - Jun 2018
The 2016 Quinta do Noval Vintage Port is a blend of Touriga Naçional, Touriga Franc, Tinta Cão and Sousão, all foot-trodden and aged in wooden casks for 18 months. It has a voluminous, warm and inviting bouquet that positively “bulges” with damson, bilberry, crushed violets and blackcurrants, all beautifully defined and focused. The palate is medium-bodied with a feisty, spicy opening: black fruit laced with cracked black pepper, clove, cardamom and a pinch of sea salt. Whilst the aromatics have all the “fun”, the palate is more “serious”, as if compensating for the nose with a sense of reserve and restraint. Together they make for a fascinating, quite mercurial Quinta do Noval that should age gloriously over the next 30 years.
    WE9292 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/1/2018
Very ripe fruit give this wine a surprisingly soft texture. It has generous tannins to go with this opulent fruitiness. The wine is going to age relatively quickly, so drink from 2026.

  6. R.L. Buller & Son Fine Tawny

    NV / 375 ml. | Item#16595

    RP9292 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 23rd Aug 2003
Rutherglen is ground zero for one of Australia’s great treasures, old fortified Muscats and Tokays (actually Muscadelle), and Buller’s offerings are brilliant examples of these wines. A knock-out, the medium garnet-colored non-vintage Premium Fine Tawny reveals smoky, spicy, nutty notes intermixed with caramel and marmalade characteristics. These Australian treasures are fabulous to drink at the end of a meal. Moreover, once opened, they will hold for several weeks, sometimes longer.
    ST9090 pts. - Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar - Sep/Oct 2005
Bright amber. Fig, molasses and spice cake on the nose, with delicate notes of honey and coriander. Light on its feet, even delicate, with a transparency of candied apple and poached pear flavor. It would be difficult to find a better bargain than this in Victoria tawny.
    SP8888 pts. - Wine Spectator - May 15, 2004
Smooth, open and only lightly sweet, layering its smoky, spicy white pepper and cherry flavors in appropriate balance. Flavors finish with subtlety. Drink now.
    WE8686 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/15/2007
Dark amber in color, this still shows its red-grape origins in vaguely berry-like scents and flavors. Hints of chocolate and caramel provide a sweet touch to this supple, medium-bodied fortified. Finishes peppery and warm.

  7. Warre’s Vintage Porto

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#48663

    SP9898 pts. - Wine Spectator - Dec 31, 2018
Gorgeous, with warm plum reduction and gently steeped raspberry, blackberry and boysenberry fruit flavors forming the core, all inlaid with warm ganache and smoldering tobacco accents. Very plush in feel, but has no lack of energy, as everything sails beautifully through the long finish. A late echo of anise completes the seduction. Best from 2035 through 2055. 3,000 cases made.
    WE9696 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/1/2018
This is a juicy wine, with dense black fruits that are cut by bright acidity. The tannins give power and long-term aging potential to this impressive wine. Drink from 2028.
    RP9191 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 19th Jul 2018
The 2016 Vintage Port is a 46/37 blend from old vines and Touriga Nacional, with Touriga Franca making up the rest. It was bottled in May 2018 with 113 grams of residual sugar. The fruit on this is gloriously expressive and concentrated. It’s classic and delicious, but it doesn’t show the power and structure of the top wines. Charles Symington called it very elegant. Or, say, understated and approachable. It is pretty delicious, though, and I have to give this some props just because it is. Don’t expect it to be the best ager in the group. There were 4,250 cases produced.
