Though port wines originated in the Portuguese city of Oporto in the seventeenth century, today many countries produce sweet dessert wines called port. The two main categories are Tawny Ports, which have been aged in barrels and have notes of raisin and spice, and Ruby Ports, boasting a deep red coloring and bright, fruity notes.
