Shop Our Selection of Napa Valley Wines

Napa Valley wines are without question the most famous and important wines from the United States, even though the Napa Valley wine region is actually one of the smallest in the world. Some of the most iconic and recognizable Napa Valley Wineries include Beaulieu Vineyards, Beringer, Cliff Lede, Dominus, Hess, Robert Mondavi Winery, Opus One, and Sterling.

While Napa Valley itself is an appellation there are also sixteen sub-appellations or American Viticultural Areas (AVAs). The climate and terrain of these sub-appellations — including Los Carneros, St. Helena, Stags Leap District, and others — are actually quite diverse, ranging from rugged mountains to cooler coastal influences, and many nuances in-between.

Most Napa wine is made with premium varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, and Zinfandel

    Proprietary Red Wine
    2015 / 750 ml. | Item#46312

    RP96+96–100 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 28th Oct 2016
The 2015 Sugarloaf Mountain Proprietary Red that began as an equal-part blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot seems to be an equal follow-up to the perfect 2014. Incredible aromatics of spring flowers and blue and black fruits are followed by a long, deep, skyscraper-like wine with explosive fruit intensity, loads of glycerin and a wonderfully, fleshy, succulent mouthfeel, which is certainly a characteristic of the top 2015s. This should drink nicely for 15–20 years.
    VN9595 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2018
The 2015 Proprietary Red Wine Sugarloaf Mountain is laced with the essence of ripe red cherry, plum, sage, wild flowers and savory herbs are all beautifully delineated. Voluptuous and racy to the core, the 2015 is a classic Russell Bevan wine built on layers of flavor and textural intensity.
    SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2018
Rich and generous, offering an array of dark-hued fruits. The ample structure bears merit, with fine-grained, dusty tannins. Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Best from 2021 through 2032. 500 cases made.

The 2016 Proprietary Red Sugarloaf Mountain is a blend of 55% Cabernet Franc, 40% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. Very deep purple-black in color, it features earth, redcurrants, red and black cherries, plums and loads of florals with a waft of dried herbs. 4. Ovid Hexameter

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#50715

    JD9999 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - January 31, 2019
In the same ballpark as the 2015, the 2016 Hexameter (55% Cabernet Franc, 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, and a splash of Merlot) is similarly inky colored and has heavenly notes of black raspberries, cassis, violets, and forest floor. This full-bodied, absolutely riveting 2016 has ultra-fine tannins, is perfectly balanced, no hard edges, and a purity of fruit that’s hard to describe. It’s another legendary wine from this team. Give bottles another 2–3 years and it will knock your socks off over the following 10–15 years. (Jeb Dunnuck)
    RP9898 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 13th Dec 2018
Blended of 55% Cabernet Franc, 44% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Merlot, the medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Hexameter leaps from the glass with bold Black Forest cake, cassis and redcurrant jelly scents with suggestions of candied violets, pencil lead, oolong tea and cumin seed with a touch of cigar box. Medium to full-bodied, the palate reveals loads of red and black fruit layers beautifully laced with exotic spices and floral fragrances, framed by super ripe, super fine-grained tannins and fantastic freshness, finishing long.
    VN9696 pts. - Vinous - Dec 2018
The 2016 Hexameter, Ovid’s Cabernet Franc-based wine, is superb. Bright, focused and beautifully sculpted, the 2016 has a lot going on. Bright red cherry, raspberry, mocha, mint and wild flowers and espresso soar out of the glass. Medium in body and gracious, the 2016 screams with varietal Franc and Pritchard Hill character.
    SP9494 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2020
This features a strong tobacco leaf note amid a hefty core of steeped currant, blackberry and plum fruit flavors. Shows solid depth, with a long tug of warm loam and espresso cream through the finish, while the fruit keeps pace. A big wine, exhibiting serious buried minerality. Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2022 through 2038. 570 cases made.

  5. Ovid Hexameter

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#56166

    JD9999 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 4/30/2021
More blue fruits as well as blackcurrants, leafy tobacco, chocolate, candied flowers, and baking spices all emerge from the 2018 Hexameter, and it’s full-bodied, with an incredibly pure, seamless texture, polished tannins, and one heck of a great, great finish. While this is unquestionably a mountain wine, with a building sense of minerality, it has a rare sense of elegance and purity, flawless balance, and is just a heavenly, singular wine. Based on 51% Cabernet Franc, 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Petit Verdot, aged 20 months in 65% new French oak, it will evolve for 25–30 years. (Jeb Dunnuck)
    VN9898 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2021
The 2018 Hexameter, Ovid’s Cabernet Franc-based wine is stellar. It also shows just how stunning Franc is in these rocky red soils. Effusive aromatics and bright saline notes abound. There is a level of vibrancy to the 2018 that is impossible to miss. Crushed rocks, rose petal, spice, licorice and new leather are some of the notes that race out of the glass. All the best elements of this site come through in a stunning wine that dazzles from start to finish.
