Shop Our Selection of Napa Valley Wines

Napa Valley wines are without question the most famous and important wines from the United States, even though the Napa Valley wine region is actually one of the smallest in the world. Some of the most iconic and recognizable Napa Valley Wineries include Beaulieu Vineyards, Beringer, Cliff Lede, Dominus, Hess, Robert Mondavi Winery, Opus One, and Sterling.

While Napa Valley itself is an appellation there are also sixteen sub-appellations or American Viticultural Areas (AVAs). The climate and terrain of these sub-appellations — including Los Carneros, St. Helena, Stags Leap District, and others — are actually quite diverse, ranging from rugged mountains to cooler coastal influences, and many nuances in-between.

Most Napa wine is made with premium varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, and Zinfandel

  3. Beringer Private Reserve Chardonnay

    2020 / 750 ml. | Item#58805

    RP9393 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st May 2022
Although not labeled as such, Beringer’s Private Reserve Chardonnay has been sourced for decades from the Gamble Ranch in Oakville. Planted around 1976 to Clone 4, the grapes are picked ripe and barrel fermented at relatively warm temperatures to build mouthfeel. The 2020 Chardonnay Private Reserve (along with all the other white varieties) was picked prior to any risk of smoke taint. Marked by scents of mango, guava and pineapple, it doesn’t come across as that oaky, despite being barrel fermented and aged in approximately 80% new French oak. It’s full-bodied and slightly buttery, with an appealing custardy richness and a long finish. (Joe Czerwinski)

Peach, apricot and mango flavors are juicy and fleshy at the core of this white, with honeyed overtones. Salted butter, spice and toasted pastry notes emerge on the finish, as does a touch of dried ginger. Drink now. 8,714 cases made. (MaryAnn Worobiec)

The 2020 Chardonnay Private Reserve is creamy, open-knit and expressive. Lemon confit, spice, vanillin and light tropical notes all grace the 2020. As always, the Private Reserve is done in a richer, creamier style than the Luminus Chardonnay. That approach worked well in 2020. (Antonio Galloni)

  4. Grgich Hills Estate Chardonnay

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#56941

    WS9494 pts. - Wine & Spirits - 10/21
When Mike Grgich made the 1973 Chateau Montelena Chardonnay—the white wine that won the Paris Tasting—he used fruit from the Bacigalupi Vineyard in the Russian River Valley. He soon moved into a partnership with Austin Hills, assembling an organically farmed estate that includes 88 acres in Carneros and 163 in American Canyon, the cool, southern districts of the Napa Valley where this chardonnay grows. Now, at 98, Grgich leaves winegrowing to his nephew, Ivo Jeramaz, who produced this complex and compelling wine. Put aside any preconceptions you might have about contemporary Napa Valley chardonnay; consider instead an agriculture that might include native corn (one taster cited the ethereal sweetness of nixtamalized corn) and stone-fruit orchards (a scent of apricots). There’s the smokiness of ancho chile and a scent of woodland mushrooms in the wine’s dark-toned leesiness. Then the layers of flavor last, harmonious and delicious.

    JS9898 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Monday, March 6, 2023
Sliced cooked apples with biscuit and pie crust undertones, as well as hints of spices with some salted caramel. Hints of apricot. Full-bodied with a firmness and depth. Creamy-textured phenolics and great length. One of the best I have tasted. It is rich and flavorful, yet it shows great depth and length. Drinkable, but better in two or three years.
