Grenache, a spicy wine with versatility, is one of the world’s most widely planted red grape varieties, yet one of the least recognized by many consumers. We're on a mission to change that, since we love Grenache wines and think that you will, too.

Because of the late-ripening nature of Grenache, it is almost exclusively grown in warmer, arid, and Mediterranean-like climates. It's a featured grape in Spain (where it goes by the name "Garnacha") and in France's Southern Rhone wines, and can also be found in Australia, the Italian island of Sardinia (where it is called "Cannonau"), and warmer climate areas in California and Washington state. There are even several outstanding versions of Grenache rosé out there, which shouldn't be ignored.

  1. Clos St. Antonin Côtes du Rhône

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#57841

    RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 5th May 2022
Mainly Grenache, with the balance a blend of Mourvèdre and Syrah, the 2019 Cotes du Rhone offers up notions of ripe cherries, garrigue and even a few modest hints of pine sap. Medium to full-bodied, it’s concentrated and ripe yet silky and reasonably elegant. Drink it over the next several years.

    RP88+88–90 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 12th Dec 2020
Plums, black cherries and hints of garrigue mark the nose of the 2019 Cotes du Rhone les 3 Soeurs, a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. It’s medium to full-bodied, with soft masses of ripe tannin that impart a plush mouthfeel and linger easily on the finish. As always with this cuvée, I’d opt for drinking it on the young side.

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#57457

    WE8989 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 7/1/2021
Dusty shards of granite, lavender and sun-kissed mulberries perfume this wine from Alain Jaume. It’s an approachable, fruity blend of Grenache (60%), Syrah (30%) and Cinsault (10%) cut by a revitalizing strike of acidity and a lingering stony finish. Best enjoyed now–2024.
    JD8989 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 10/6/2020
Mostly Grenache blended with roughly 30% Syrah, brought up all in tank, the 2019 Côtes Du Rhône Haut De Brun is another terrific release from this estate that delivers loads of pleasure for not much buck. Impressive red and black fruits, notes of peppery garrigue, and earth, medium-bodied richness, and a juicy, gulpable style all make for a seriously good Côtes du Rhône to enjoy over the coming 3–5 years. (Jeb Dunnuck)
    RP8888 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 24th Sep 2020
The 2019 Cotes du Rhone Haut de Brun comes across as slightly darker and more concentrated than the 2018, showing hints of blueberries and black cherries mixing in with the raspberries and cherries. It’s medium to full-bodied, shows some soft, velvety tannins, and displays admirable purity on the finish.

    <>
    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#56559

    VN9595 pts. - Vinous - Oct 2021
Saturated ruby. Deep-pitched red/blue fruit liqueur aromas pick up suggestions of licorice, pipe tobacco and pungent flowers and herbs with air. In a lush, weighty style, offering expansive black raspberry, cherry cola, singed plum and fruitcake flavors sharpened by a jolt of spiciness on the back half. For all this wine’s richness, it’s energetic as well, showing solid, spice- and floral-driven persistence on the finish, which is framed by velvety, even tannins.
    JD94+94+ pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 11/3/2021
The 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape is ruby/purple-hued and has the classic translucent color of the domaine. It’s more precise and focused than the Télégramme and will need more time, but it offers a complex, gorgeous bouquet of red and black fruits, crushed stone, wild fennel, and ground pepper. Pure, medium to full-bodied, and elegant, do your best to hide bottles for 5–7 years and it’s going to keep for two decades. (Jeb Dunnuck)

  5. Clos i Terrasses Laurel

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#58663

    RP95+95+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Sep 2022
The 2019 Laurel is quite closed and shows serious and shy. It’s made with all the grapes that are not used for Clos Erasmus—young vines, the remaining Cabernet Sauvignon (no more than 5%), mostly Garnacha and some 15% Syrah. The wine matured mostly in 2,000-liter oak vats, concrete and some barrels (she’s abandoning the tinaja). It’s 15% alcohol but has very good freshness. The wine is round and powerful but very harmonious and with good freshness. It’s medium to full-bodied and nicely textured, with abundant, glossy tannins and fantastic balance. This is both powerful and elegant. It slowly opens up in the glass to ripe berries, spice and herbs and a touch of smoke. 18,700 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2021. (Luis Gutiérrez)

Vivid ruby-red. Aromas of ripe red and dark berries, spicecake and candied flowers are complemented by a smoky mineral nuance that builds in the glass. Sappy black raspberry and cherry flavors show good depth as well as energy. Silky and appealingly sweet, finishing with sharp focus and smooth tannins that fold into the wine’s juicy fruit. Raised in stainless steel and concrete tanks. (Josh Raynolds)

  7. Clos du Mont-Olivet La Cuvée du Papet Châteauneuf-du-Pape

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#55900

    JD9999 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 11/3/2021
The deeper hued 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape La Cuvée Du Papet checks in as a blend of 75% Syrah, 15% Mourvèdre, and 10% Syrah that saw plenty of stems and aging mostly in foudre, with a small part in demi-muids and barrique. Straight-up sensational notes of blackcurrants, ground pepper, garrigue, leather, and graphite emerge from the glass, and it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a concentrated, dense, powerful mouthfeel, building tannins, and a brilliant finish. It’s built for the long haul, and along with the 2016, it’s one of the finest wines I’ve tasted from this talented family. Hide bottles for 7–8 years and enjoy over the following 20–25+. (Jeb Dunnuck)
    SP9696 pts. - Wine Spectator - Web only – 2021
Dark in profile, but very seductive, with cassis, crushed plum and cherry reduction notes carried by a substantial yet very silky structure. Light floral, incense, black tea and warm earth details score the finish. Tantalizing now for its mouthfeel and expressiveness, but there’s no rush at all. Drink now through 2038. 300 cases made, 100 cases imported.
    VN9595 pts. - Vinous - Oct 2021
Brilliant violet. A highly perfumed nose displays mineral- and spice-accented red and dark berries, licorice and a hint of potpourri. Sappy cherry, black raspberry and spicecake flavors show vibrant lift and take on floral pastille and botanical herb nuances as the wine opens up. In a lively style, finishing sweet, floral and extremely long, with fine-grained tannins adding final grip.

  8. Domaine de Marcoux Châteauneuf-du-Pape

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#55381

    VN9494 pts. - Vinous - Oct 2021
Bright ruby. Vibrant, spice-accented aromas of raspberry and cherry liqueur, incense and pungent flowers are accompanied by a smoky mineral nuance that builds in the glass. Deep-pitched yet impressively lively as well, offering intense red and dark berry liqueur and floral pastille flavors that stain the palate and show superb clarity and minerally lift. Closes extremely long, focused and lively, with silky tannins framing the wine’s sweet fruit. This is about as good as a "basic" Châteauneuf gets.
    JD92+92–94 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 10/6/2020
The 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape showed beautifully, with a deeper ruby/purple color as well as incredible Provençal notes of peppery garrigue, dried flowers, and jammy red and black berry fruits. Playing in the medium to full-bodied end of the spectrum, it has a great mid-palate, loads of building tannins, a solid spine of acidity, and a big finish. This is one smoking good, classic cuvée that savvy readers should snatch up. It will have 10–15 years of prime drinking.

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#55109

    JD96+96–99 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 10/6/2020
One of my favorite wines in the world, the Châteauneuf du Pape Colombis is all old vine Grenache from the Colombis lieu-dit located on the western side of the appellation. The 2019 sports a healthy ruby/purple color as well as a classic Grenache bouquet of black raspberries, herbes de Provence, peppery spice, and flowery incense. Already complex, it’s full-bodied, has a wonderful sense of purity, beautiful tannins, and a great finish. This is power paired with elegance, and few wines do it so well. It’s going to drink beautifully for 15-20+ years. (Jeb Dunnuck)
    VN9696 pts. - Vinous - Oct 2021
Deep, shimmering ruby. Expansive, mineral- and spice-accented red and dark berry preserve, incense, cola and garrigue qualities on the finely detailed nose. Palate-staining cherry pie, raspberry, boysenberry, floral pastille and fruitcake flavors show uncanny energy for their depth. The spice and floral notes dominate a seriously long, sappy finish framed by velvety, well-knit tannins.
    SP9494 pts. - Wine Spectator - Dec 31, 2021
So silky this version seems expressive at first, but the core of cassis, cherry purée and raspberry fruit is tightly coiled, with both chalk and iron notes having their say, stretching out in unison through the finish. Black tea and garrigue hints peek in as well, which is a sign of what’s to come after cellaring. Best from 2023 through 2036. 3,720 cases made, 310 cases imported.

    WE9191 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 9/1/2021
The aromas fascinate in notes of raspberry, thistle, cranberry, blueberry, herbs and coffee. Plump, palate-coating flavors follow. There’s a lovely texture and purity to this wine, while it remains light on its feet. Raspberry and blueberry notes linger on the finish.
    JD9191 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 5/6/2021
Lots of juicy berry fruits, briary herbs, pepper, and violet notes emerge from the 2019 Sinister Hand, Washington State’s take on a terrific Côtes du Rhône. Medium-bodied, balanced, and just straight- up delicious, drink this charming, balanced Syrah blend (there’s 18% each of Grenache and Mourvèdre with smaller amounts other varieties) over the coming 4–6 years. 2019 / 750 ml. | Item#54919

    WE9898 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 10/1/2021
This Grenache is sourced from the sandy soils of two prized vineyards, La Janasse and La Crau. Redolent of rose petals, smoky tea leaves and black cherry, the deeply penetrating wine pulsates through a long, long finish. Matured 12 months in large-format wood, it’s pure in fruit and satiny on the palate. Stunning young, the wine should gain complexity through at least 2040 and hold much further still.
    JD96+96–99 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 10/6/2020
The 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Cuvée Chaupin looks to be a magical wine in the making. It has everything you could want from this region as well as from Grenache. Revealing a medium ruby/purple, almost opaque color as well as a gorgeous bouquet of kirsch liqueur, wild strawberries, loamy soil, peppery garrigue, and flowers, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a seamless, multi-dimensional texture, ultra-fine tannins, and a blockbuster of a finish. This is one of those incredible wines that delivers serious intensity and richness yet stays weightless and is as elegant as they come. It’s going to be approachable with just 2–3 years of bottle age yet will have 20 years or more of longevity.

Shimmering ruby-red. Expressive, smoke- and mineral-accented red fruit and floral scents show fine definition and pick up a spicy accent with air. Sappy and penetrating on the palate, offering appealingly sweet raspberry, cherry and candied lavender flavors that deepen slowly through the midpalate. Shows solid, spicy thrust on a long, smooth finish framed by velvety tannins. This is an exceptional example of an entry-level Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
    SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - Dec 31, 2021

A blend of 82% Grenache and 18% Syrah, the 2019 IGP Cotes Catalanes Narassa spent 15 months in a 50-50 mix of tank and demi-muids (15% new). Black cherries and blueberries mingle easily on the nose, joined by hints of maple syrup and licorice. Full-bodied, velvety and super-ripe, it comes across as almost sweet on the lingering finish. Personally, I’d serve it late in the meal, perhaps alongside a well-aged Parmiggiano or similar cheese.
