Shop for Cabernet Sauvignon & Red Bordeaux Online

As one of the noble grape varietals and one of the five esteemed grapes of Bordeaux, Cabernet Sauvignon claims the role of the respected elder of the wine family. Cabernet Sauvignon adapts well to different climates and as such is widely planted across the wine-producing world: France, Argentina, Chile, New York, and, of course, California, all produce fantastic expressions of Cabernet Sauvignon.

A full-bodied, dry red, Cabernet is at its best when paired with a steak or roast and also shows well with hearty dishes like stews and chili. With excellent aging potential, Cabernet Sauvignon is a wine you can cellar and enjoy five, ten, even fifteen years in the future. And don't forget: a little-known tip is that Cabernet Sauvignon is a perfect pairing for chocolate!

  3. Château Lynch-Bages, Pauillac

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#52268

    JS98+98–99 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, April 4, 2017
This is really back-ended thanks to a powerful and almost endless finish. Full-bodied, dense and powerful with incredible concentration and length. Round and polished tannins. Layered. This unravels bit by bit. Energetic acidity gives it such superb freshness. This is at the 2010/2009 level.
    RP97+97+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Nov 2018
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Lynch Bages comes charging out of the gate with pronounced cassis, chocolate-covered cherries, mulberries and menthol notions, backed up by scents of garrigue, tilled soil and a waft of tapenade. Medium to full-bodied, rich and fantastically concentrated, the generous fruit is superbly framed by firm, ripe, grainy tannins with tons of pepper, cinnamon and cloves layers coming through on the finish. Truly, a legendary Lynch Bages!
    SP9797 pts. - Wine Spectator - Mar 31, 2019
This is built for the cellar, with a generous core of kirsch, raspberry paste and plum preserve flavors waiting to unfurl. Will take time, due to the licorice snap, roasted apple wood and sweet tobacco elements draped over the fruit. Should meld with age, as the structure is invigorating in feel, showing both acidity and tannins in lockstep with the fruit. Best from 2025 through 2040.
    WE96+96–98 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 6/1/2017
This wine is ripe and opulent, while still elegant. The balance is fine, showing plenty of concentration and a light touch of acidity. Black currant fruit matches the tannins and structure, making this one for the long term.
    VN9696 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2019
A stellar wine, the 2016 Lynch-Bages is dark and explosive in the glass. Beams of tannin and bright acids give the 2016 its sense of drive and tension. From bottle, the 2016 is quite a bit more powerful than it was from barrel. Dark flavors and potent tannins give the 2016 a distinctly brooding, somber feel. Sage, lavender, menthol, licorice and wild cherry are all laced into the potent, dramatically sweeping finish. Readers should not be in a rush, as the 2016 is going to need a number of years to be at its best. Even so, it is super-impressive today.

  4. Andrew Will Sorella

    Champoux Vineyard
    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#54335

    JD9999 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - April 11, 2019
Flirting with perfection, the 2016 Sorella checks in as 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% each of Cabernet Franc and Merlot, and the balance Petit Verdot. Coming all from the Champoux Vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills, its saturated purple color is followed by a La Mission Haut Brion-like bouquet of black and blue fruits, gravelly, minerality, smoke tobacco, and chocolate. Deep, multi-dimensional, full-bodied, and with beautiful complexity, it’s a magical wine as well as the finest wine from this estate to date. Bravo! (Jeb Dunnuck)
    RP96+96+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Dec 2019
The 2016 Sorella is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petite Verdot. The plump, juicy nose exudes aromas of luxurious, elegant fruit characteristics of ripe blackberry and dark plum along with a layered core of oak and a structured floral bouquet. Exciting and thought-provoking on the full-bodied palate, fruit and oak spices radiate with the precision and focus of world-class wine, building to a plushier, fruit-forward expression on the mid-palate yet showing a mineral focus. The finish is long and winding, with layers that continue to evolve in the mouth, unfolding to a generous and intricate lingering expression. Only 472 cases were made, and it will be your lucky day if you can add some of this stellar wine to your cellar. Bravo!
    VN91+91+ pts. - Vinous - Dec 2019
Bright ruby-red. Brooding scents of blackberry, blueberry, licorice, menthol and graphite. Dense but sharply delineated and penetrating, with black and blue fruit flavors conveying terrific energy and juiciness that mask the wine’s thickness. Still, this can’t quite match the more Merlot-based Champoux Vineyard blend for density. This wine boasts serious Cabernet Sauvignon structure, finishing with lovely mounting violet lift and length. Firmly tannic but not hard. This, too, should evolve slowly but even today it’s balanced and enjoyable. I suppose it’s a bit more tannic and less pliant than the Andrew Will ’16s that contain more Merlot, but none of these wines lack for definition or spine.

    VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Dec 2019
Medium ruby-red. Aromas of blackcurrant, dark raspberry, espresso, bitter chocolate and graphite. Silky and plush but also vinous on entry, then densely packed, seamless and deep in the middle, with savory red and blacker fruit flavors complicated by subtle brown spices and minerals. Conveys excellent inner-mouth peppery lift and vinosity without coming across as green. This wine struck me as quite similar to its 2015 predecessor, suggesting that owner/winemaker Greg Harrington was especially successful in avoiding obvious signs of the very hot 2015 growing season. This savory, classically dry, energetic Cabernet Sauvignon finishes with firm, suave tannins and slowly mounting persistence.

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#54212

    RP97+97+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Jan 2019
The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Samantha’s is made of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 21 months in 86% new French oak. This is a vineyard selection blend usually harvested slightly later. Very deep purple-black in color, it leaps from the glass with vibrant cassis, blackberry pie and preserved plums scents with nuances of mocha, pencil shavings, menthol, lilacs and cloves plus a touch of chargrilled meat. The medium to full-bodied palate is super intense with layer upon layer of black fruits, savory and floral notions and a rock-solid foundation of grainy tannins, finishing very long and very minerally. 698 cases produced.
    VN9797 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2018
The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Samantha’s is magnificent. Powerful and sumptuous, with stunning inner perfume and sweetness, the 2016 is simply thrilling to taste. Bittersweet chocolate, plum, black cherry, lavender, spice and new leather take on added shades of richness and texture in this towering, explosive Cabernet Sauvignon. Swaths of tannin build as this striking wine gains volume and intensity with air. In a word: superb!

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#48527

    RP97+97+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 29th Oct 2018
The 2016 Proprietary Red Sugarloaf Mountain is a blend of 55% Cabernet Franc, 40% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. Very deep purple-black in color, it features earth, redcurrants, red and black cherries, plums and loads of florals with a waft of dried herbs. The palate offers loads of lift from the menthol and red fruits, with a fine-grained texture and tons of energy on the finish. 605 cases produced.
    VN93+93–96 pts. - Vinous - Mar 2018
The 2016 Proprietary Red Wine Sugarloaf Mountain is fresh, nuanced and full of potential. The aromatics and fruit are beautifully delineated, while bright acidity gives the wine vibrancy and focus. The 2016 is shaping up to be a real jewel of a wine.

  8. Bond Vecina

    Napa Valley Red Wine
    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#51850

    RP100100 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Sep 2019
Vecina vineyard is located in the western foothills of Oakville, just to the south-east of the winery (up on Oakville Grade). Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Vecina slips sensuously out of the glass with gorgeous black cherries, kirsch, wild blueberries and blackcurrant pastilles notes plus suggestions of bouquet garni, pencil lead, tilled earth and underbrush. Full-bodied, taut and packed with ripe, expressive, exquisitely accented black and blue fruits, it has loads of earthy sparks and a compelling fine-grained nature to the firm texture, finishing long and layered. This bright, energetic, incredibly nuanced beauty is built like a brick house and, while approachable in youth, is easily a 50-year wine. I therefore urge readers to wait at least 5–7 years before opening to allow for the myriad of subtle nuances to emerge and offer that “WOW” experience that will reward patience.
    JS9999 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Friday, May 3, 2019
Blackberry, black-truffle, sliced-mushroom and dried-beef aromas. Full-bodied, broad shouldered and amazingly structured and layered. Dense, extremely long and intense. It’s seamless and goes on for minutes. Great wine. Give it time to give you even more. Better after 2022.
    VN9797 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2020
The 2016 Vecina is the most tannic and brooding of the wines, as it so often is. Swaths of tannin wrap around a core of black cherry, chocolate, new leather, licorice, spice and menthol. I would cellar the 2016 for at least few years to shed some of its youthful bombastic intensity. There is certainly no shortage of character or complexity. As always, Vecina emerges from choice parcels within Vine Hill Ranch.
    SP9696 pts. - Wine Spectator - Jul 15, 2020
Intense from the get-go, featuring dark currant and steeped plum fruit, wrapped in licorice root, warm gravel and espresso cream notes. The long, muscular finish smolders, with juniper and tobacco elements keeping pace with the fruit. Seriously built. Best from 2022 through 2038. 650 cases made.

  9. Château Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#49125

    RP100100 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Nov 2018
The 2016 Haut-Brion is blended of 56% Merlot, 37.5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6.5% Cabernet Franc. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the nose is at once profound and arresting, offering drop-dead gorgeous Morello cherries, lilacs and red rose scents with a core of Black Forest cake, warm blackcurrants and blueberry preserves plus wafts of sandalwood and underbrush. Medium-bodied, the elegantly crafted palate is completely packed with intense floral, mineral and cassis-laced flavors with a firm frame of very finely pixelated tannins and seamless freshness, finishing very long and achingly stunning.
    JS100?100–100 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, April 4, 2017
This is a monument for Haut-Brion and reminds me of the great 1998 but in a modern and bright style. Full-bodied, very tannic and superbly structured yet always agile and vivid. Its energy and dynamic nature grabs you by the shoulder and tells you it’s great. Staggeringly precise. It can’t get better than this, can it?
    VN9999 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2019
The 2016 Haut-Brion has a beguiling sense of purity on the nose, which features scents of blackberry, crushed violet petals, hints of dark chocolate and even a suggestion of fresh fig. Underneath all this is a seam of mineralité that becomes more conspicuous with aeration, tightening everything up. The palate is medium-bodied with filigreed tannin, a satiny texture, perfect acidity and incredible harmony. Everything here is in the right place. Quite sensual in style, conveying an enthralling sense of delineation on the long finish. About as good as you will find in this vintage.
    SP9898 pts. - Wine Spectator - Mar 31, 2019
Large and in charge, this has a prodigious core of steeped plum, black currant and loganberry fruit flavors that show both compote and coulis aspects. While that steeps, this delivers a sturdy frame of roasted mesquite, smoldering tobacco and incense, surrounding a muscular spine of worn cedar and tar. Still rather backward, this will be showing well when most others from the vintage have had their day. Best from 2025 through 2045. 11,600 cases made.
    WE97+97–99 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 6/1/2017
Structured and serious, this is complex and dense. Dark black-plum fruits are covered by powerful tannins and ample acidity. It is destined for long, slow aging.

  10. Château La Mission Haut-Brion Pessac-Léognan

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#57492

    RP98+98–100 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 28th Apr 2017
The 2016 La Mission Haut Brion is a blend of 57.5% Merlot and 42.5% Cabernet Sauvignon picked between 19 September and 14 October, one of the longest ever. “We had to be patient and wait for each plot,” Jean-Philippe Delmas told me. “It took longer than usual.” As is customary, I allowed my sample, and likewise all the wines poured at this tasting, around 40–45 minutes to open since they always transform in the glass. It has a clean and precise, quite understated bouquet with fine mineralité, cold stone aromas infusing the black fruit. This has incredible precision, perhaps even more pixelated than the “gaff over the road” Haut-Brion. The palate is medium-bodied with supple and lithe tannin. I appreciate the line of acidity here, the smoothness and harmony that takes your breath away. Every atom is infused with life-affirming freshness. It is a wine bridled with incredible focus and delineation. I thought that the 2015 La Mission Haut-Brion flirted with perfection. The 2016 has that extra edge, a “je ne sais quoi” that leaves you reaching for the thesaurus looking for superlatives.
    WE96+96–98 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 6/1/2017
This is a seductive, rounded and smooth wine, with fine fruit that cushions the solid tannins. It has spicy tones and ample acidity as well as delicious, concentrated fruitiness. This is going to be a beautiful wine.
    JS96+96–97 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, April 4, 2017
The texture to this is very beautiful with chewy yet very polished tannins. Full-bodied, tight and mouth-filling. Starts very slowly and then takes off. Love the energy in this.
    VN94+94–97 pts. - Vinous - Apr 2017
The 2016 La Mission Haut-Brion is a total knockout. Vertical and powerful, but not at all austere, it exudes class. Fine-grained tannins support the fruit, but they are barely felt, as the wine’s balance is so extraordinary. Lifted floral notes and a host of red fruits give the 2016 energy and verve. I can’t wait to see how it ages.

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#58518

    RP9595 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st May 2022
The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Martha’s Vineyard barely hints at eucalyptus on the nose, with much more emphasis given to black cherries and cassis. This is full-bodied and rich, nicely balancing richness and texture against linear shape and focus and picking up hints of blueberries and spice on the long, mouthwatering finish. With 112 barrels having been bottled, there’s a fair bit of this wine to go around, if one can afford it. (Joe Czerwinski)
    SP9595 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 15, 2021
This throws off an overt and alluring mint aroma, while sweet bay leaf, violet, damson plum, red tea and steeped griotte notes all glide through together, carried by remarkably fine-grained tannins. Ends with a gentle echo of mint on the finish, while a subtle minerality chimes through as well. A stylish and suave wine, with plenty of charm now, but also pristine balance for cellaring. Best from 2022 through 2038. 2,500 cases made. (James Molesworth)

    Collezione Privata
    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#54804

    VN9898 pts. - Vinous - Sep 2020
The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon is among the finest Cabernet Sauvignons in Italy. High altitude sites in Barberino yield a distinctly mid-weight, elegant, savory Cabernet that is all about reserve. Dark plum, espresso, licorice, menthol and sage start to emerge with a bit of air, but the 2016 is a wine that demands cellaring. Over the years, I have had the good fortune to taste every vintage of the Isole e Olena Cabernet. It is one of the great under the radar wines of Tuscany. The 2016 takes its place with the very finest editions.
    RP9696 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 30th Sep 2020
The Isole e Olena 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Collezione Privata opens nicely to show rich but balanced concentration and generous aromas of dark fruit, plum, exotic spice and fragrant cedar wood. I tasted the wine at two intervals in time, once when the bottle was first opened and a second time the following day from the same bottle. The wine opens generously, showing a fluid and steady evolution of aromas that starts with some tart fruit and forest floor, later to develop into the softer and sensuous flavors I have described above. The tannins are delicately woven into the greater fiber of the wine to offer support without any sharpness. The entire drinking experience is seamless and smooth. Production is 10,000 bottles and 240 magnums.

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#50167

    RP100100 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 29th Oct 2018
One-hundred percent Cabernet Sauvignon aged 20 months in 75% new French oak, the 2016 J Daniel Cuvee is deep garnet-purple in color and offers up exuberant notes of crème de cassis, chocolate-covered cherries, wild blueberries, violets and unsmoked cigars with touches of garrigue, fragrant earth, powdered cinnamon, black olives and tree bark. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is built like a brick house, with a solid frame of firm, grainy tannins and seamless freshness supporting the taut, muscular fruit, finishing long and minerally. 950 cases produced.
    JS9797 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Friday, May 3, 2019
Love the green olives, blackberries and sweet tobacco. Hints of walnuts and wet earth. Full-bodied yet reserved and very tight with beautiful richness and focus. Dense and exciting. A blend of Oakville and Howell Mountain. Great Napa cab. Try after 2022.
    VN9696 pts. - Vinous - May 2019
Saturated dark ruby. Very pure but reticent aromas of blackberry, licorice, spices and minerals, complicated by whiffs of violet and leather and a faint medicinal quality. Utterly silky, sweet and fresh on the palate, showing near-perfect balance from the outset. This wonderfully generous fruit bomb is still an infant and yet is a treat to taste today owing to its compelling sweetness and glossy texture. Hints of graphite and warm loam add interest as the wine opens in the glass. Robin Lail describes this wine as “a combination of the opulence of the 2012 and the structure of the ’13,” while general manager Michael Updegraff says it’s “like Cabernet candy.” Finishes with substantial fine-grained, horizontal tannins and outstanding breadth and length. A brilliant wine for a drought year; in fact, Lail’s string of J. Daniel releases from California’s five years of drought (2012 through 2016) represent a new level of excellence for this winery.

    VN9696 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2022
The 2016 Les Forts de Latour is the clear highlight among these new releases from Latour. The first thing that is evident about the 2016 is the pedigree of the vintage. Undisputedly great. Readers will find a potent, dark Forts de Latour endowed with massive concentration and tons of depth. The 2016 won’t be ready to drink anytime soon, but it holds tons of promise. Hints of gravel, sage, licorice and pencil shavings linger. The 2016 was impressive a few years ago. It is even better today. (Antonio Galloni)
    RP9595 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 15th Mar 2022
The 2016 Les Forts de Latour is superb, unwinding in the glass with notions of blackcurrants, wild berries, sweet loamy soil, cigar wrapper and English walnuts. Medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, it’s concentrated and tightly wound, with superb depth at the core, lively acids and ripe, powdery tannins. This is an impeccably balanced, utterly classical Forts de Latour worth a special effort to seek out. (William Kelley)
    JD9595 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 8/20/2022
The second wine of this great château, the 2016 Les Forts De Latour continues to impress. I commented on release that it was the best wine in the vintage, and my opinion hasn’t changed. This beauty offers plenty of classic Latour character as well as notes of blackcurrants, saddle leather, lead pencil shavings, and dried flowers. Full-bodied, concentrated, and perfectly balanced, it’s just now starting to round into form and will no doubt continue drinking well for another 2+ decades. It’s a gorgeous Pauillac. (Jeb Dunnuck)

    2016 / 750 ml. | Item#52982

    JD9999 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - January 31, 2019
Also borderline perfection, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Spring Mountain District offers more conifer and pine forest notes as well as vivid blueberry fruits, a full-bodied, intense, layered mouthfeel, thrilling elegance, and a big finish. My note on this one was sprinkled with a few expletives and this wine has everything you could want from Cabernet Sauvignon. As with the other 2016s from Chris, 2–4 years of bottle age are recommended. (Jeb Dunnuck)
    RP9797 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 29th Oct 2018
Deep garnet-purple colored and made up of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Spring Mountain gives up tantalizing notes of licorice, chocolate box and spearmint over a core of crushed blackcurrants, blackberries and kirsch plus wafts of roses and fertile loam. Full-bodied, firm and oh-so-minerally in the mouth, it has a solid structure of grainy tannins and seamless freshness, finishing on a lingering earthy note. 825 cases produced.

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon (Spring Mountain) is supple, silky and remarkably pure, with striking nuance to match its soft contours and plush fruit. Resonant and enveloping, with terrific depth, the 2016 is striking today. The Spring Mountain is the most open and inviting of the Lokoya Cabernets, but ideally readers should give it a few years in the cellar, which will allow the full range of aromatics to develop.
