As one of the noble grape varietals and one of the five esteemed grapes of Bordeaux, Cabernet Sauvignon claims the role of the respected elder of the wine family. Cabernet Sauvignon adapts well to different climates and as such is widely planted across the wine-producing world: France, Argentina, Chile, New York, and, of course, California, all produce fantastic expressions of Cabernet Sauvignon.

A full-bodied, dry red, Cabernet is at its best when paired with a steak or roast and also shows well with hearty dishes like stews and chili. With excellent aging potential, Cabernet Sauvignon is a wine you can cellar and enjoy five, ten, even fifteen years in the future. And don't forget: a little-known tip is that Cabernet Sauvignon is a perfect pairing for chocolate!

    2020 / 750 ml. | Item#57774

    JS9393 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Tuesday, August 9, 2022
Attractive aromas of blue fruit with slate and black-licorice character. It’s full-bodied with juicy fruit and an orange-peel undertone. Wet earth, some fresh sage and rosemary, too. I like the Mediterranean flavors in this vintage. Drink or hold.
    RP9090 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 12th May 2022
A blend of Merlot, Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, the Ornellaia 2020 Le Volte dell’Ornellaia shows medium darkness and texture followed by a very primary and fruit-forward bouquet. There is a generous display of cherry, cassis and wild plum. On second nose, this easy and straightforward Tuscan blend reveals hints of spice, cardamon and polished river stone. In a hot vintage like this, the wine comes together nicely and rather effortlessly. (Monica Larner)
    SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Sep 30, 2022
This balanced red is laced with black cherry, blackberry, violet and spice flavors. Concentrated and juicy, leaving a lining of dusty tannins on the long finish. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese. Drink now through 2028. 12,500 cases imported. (Bruce Sanderson)
    JD9090 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 6/8/2022
The 2020 Le Volte Dell’Ornellaia is a juicy, forward blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Sangiovese that’s aged in a mix of concrete and oak. It’s one heck of a delicious bistro wine and is loaded with ripe redcurrants, strawberry, tobacco, and cedary herb aromas and flavors. Medium to full-bodied, this plump, round, mouth-filling beauty is ideal for near-term drinking. (Jeb Dunnuck)

    WE9292 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 3/1/2021
With oenologue Michel Rolland’s team behind this estate, it is not surprising that this wine is rich while also structured and perfumed. Wood aging gives a final polish to a full, generous and ageworthy wine. Drink from 2023.
    VN8888 pts. - Vinous - Mar 2021
The 2018 Le Doyenné is nicely done. Sweet floral notes and bright, red berry fruit give this mid-weight Côtes de Bordeaux a good deal of charm. Drink it over the next handful of years.
    JD8888 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 3/11/2021
Lots of spiced red and black fruits, cedarwood, sappy flowers, and incense notes emerge from the 2018 Château Le Doyenne, It’s a nicely balanced, medium-bodied 2018 with plenty of sweet fruit, a solid sense of freshness and purity, ripe tannins, and a clean finish. It’s rock-solid and ideal for enjoying over the coming 5–6 years, if not longer. (Jeb Dunnuck)

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#55275

    JS9999 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Wednesday, March 3, 2021
Complex and expressive nose, offering red and dark fruit, spices and pepper with wood and mushroom undertones. Fresh mussel shell and a hint of ink, too. Full-bodied with a fine texture and great balance between the acidity and the controlled, tannic structure. Very long finish. Goes on and on. Tiny production, 21 hectoliters per hectare. Try after 2025.
    JD9898 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 3/11/2021
The Grand Vin 2018 Château Haut-Bailly checks in as 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, and the balance Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. It spent 18 months in 60% new French oak. This is a beautiful, classic expression of this terroir, and its dense purple hue is followed by gorgeous black cherry and cassis fruits interwoven with ample tobacco leaf, cedary herbs, earth, truffle, and floral nuances. While 2018 was a hot, dry year (at the end of the season anyway), this shows a mix of cooler-climate, vibrant aromatics paired with a rich, concentrated, fresh style on the palate. It has plenty of tannins, flawless balance, and a great finish. A beautiful, elegant 2018, it’s going to need 5–7 years of bottle age and keep for 3–4 decades. (Jeb Dunnuck)
    VN9797 pts. - Vinous - Mar 2021
The 2018 Haut-Bailly soars out of the glass, showing magnificent poise that only grows with time. Sweet, perfumed aromatics, silky tannins and mid-weight structure add to its considerable allure. Ripe red berry fruit, spice, blood orange, licorice, cedar, tobacco and menthol are all woven together in an effortless, classy Haut-Bailly that delivers the goods. I suppose the 2018 doesn’t quite have the explosive energy of the very best years, but it more than makes up for that with its sensual, seductive personality.
    RP9696 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 31st Mar 2021
The 2018 Haut-Bailly is blended of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot and 5% Cabernet Franc, and it has 14.4% alcohol. Deep garnet-purple colored, it needs a little coaxing to unlock a powerhouse of black fruit preserves, offering notes of blackberry pie, crème de cassis and black cherry compote, giving way to nuances of Chinese five spice, camphor, chocolate box and licorice with a touch of crushed rocks. The medium to full-bodied palate is jam-packed with plush textured, rich black fruits, supported by a lively backbone and finishing long and spicy. It is decadently tempting to drink now, but give it 5 years in bottle to begin to see its full glory, while it should continue to transform for a further 20 years or more in cellar.
    WE9696 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 5/1/2021
The balance between Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon in this wine gives it swathes of rich fruit and a classic structure. Blackberry flavors layered with firm, dense tannins convey elegance and richness. This is a ripe wine, generously proportioned and ready for aging.
    SP9595 pts. - Wine Spectator - Mar 31, 2021
Packed with steeped plum, blackberry and cassis flavors, this also sports licorice root, applewood and tar notes. Dense and shows a chewy edge, but it’s seriously long, energetic and vibrant, so just cellar to let it unfurl. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Best from 2023 through 2038. 5,000 cases made.

    VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Jul 2022
The 2020 Le Cupole is a rich, flavorful wine. Super-ripe dark cherry, plum, espresso, incense and chocolate are front and center. There’s not much subtlety here, but then again I am not sure that is the goal, either. This flamboyant red will be a joy to drink right out of the gate. (Antonio Galloni)

    RP8888 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 17th Dec 2020
A blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2018 Bolgheri Rosso Zizzolo is a bright and slightly downplayed or underripe wine. The focus here is on the freshness of the fruit rather than richness or extraction, and the cooler vintage has done its part to shape these results. Sour cherry and tart berry cede to spice, tar, tobacco and potting soil. Have it with a vegetarian pizza. Some 25,000 bottles were made.

  15. Andrew Will Champoux Vineyard

    2015 / 750 ml. | Item#54334

    RP9797 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 29th Jun 2018
The 2015 Champoux Vineyard is stunning, busting from the glass with a precocious bouquet of ripe cherries, minty blackberries, violets and anise. On the palate, it’s full-bodied, layered and almost voluptuous, with velvety, melting tannins that frame a succulent core of beautifully delineated fruit. The finish is long and fragrant. Infinitely seductive and exquisitely balanced, I struggle to remember an Andrew Will Champoux that was quite this delicious straight out of the gates, yet the wine clearly has the potential to evolve for two decades. The 2015 is a blend of 51% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Franc, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot.
    JD9696 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - April 5, 2018
The 2015 Champoux is a beauty. Concentrated, rich, full-bodied and layered, it offers a rocking nose of blackcurrants, graphite, lead pencil, iodine, and salty minerality. Ripe, rounded, and opulent, yet with good freshness and purity, it needs 3–4 years of bottle age and will keep for two decades. (Jeb Dunnuck)
