As one of the noble grape varietals and one of the five esteemed grapes of Bordeaux, Cabernet Sauvignon claims the role of the respected elder of the wine family. Cabernet Sauvignon adapts well to different climates and as such is widely planted across the wine-producing world: France, Argentina, Chile, New York, and, of course, California, all produce fantastic expressions of Cabernet Sauvignon.

A full-bodied, dry red, Cabernet is at its best when paired with a steak or roast and also shows well with hearty dishes like stews and chili. With excellent aging potential, Cabernet Sauvignon is a wine you can cellar and enjoy five, ten, even fifteen years in the future. And don't forget: a little-known tip is that Cabernet Sauvignon is a perfect pairing for chocolate!

  1. Penley Estate Phoenix Cabernet Sauvignon

    2020 / 750 ml. | Item#58688

    SP9393 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 31, 2022
An elegant version, with firm earthy notes to the star anise, green cardamom and cigar box spiciness, backed by a touch of Dutch cocoa powder. Reveals spiced plum, cassis and kirsch flavors that are plump and velvety, with a long finish. Drink now through 2030. 7,000 cases imported. (MaryAnn Worobiec)

This is a bright, youthful cabernet with aromas of plums, redcurrants, tobacco and earth. Picked early for freshness. Medium-bodied with little oak impact, a red-plum core and a juicy, drinkable feel. Drink now. Screw cap.
    WE9090 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/1/2022
This is a rich, somewhat oak-forward vintage of Phoenix. The plush blackberry, mint and peppery spice is overlain by the vanilla-chocolate barrel influence. Tannins are powerful but fine and spice laden, adding gravitas to an otherwise easy-drinking, tangy Cab with regional and varietal expression. (Christina Pickard)

  2. Greg Norman Estates Limestone Coast Cabernet Sauvignon

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#53593

    WE9191 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 12/1/2020
This big wine from South Australia has lovely varietal expression in tones of blue, black and red fruit, fresh mint, cracked pepper and cigar box. The tannins are taut and powerful, talc-like in texture, but not overwhelming thanks to a line of juicy fruit. Protein alongside this is a necessity.
    SP8585 pts. - Wine Spectator - Oct 15, 2020
Tight herb, earth and wild blackberry flavors have good concentration, mingling with dense, cedary tannins and a black pepper accent on the finish. Drink now. 5,000 cases imported.

  3. Mollydooker The Maitre D’ Cabernet Sauvignon

    2021 / 750 ml. | Item#60057

    RP8888 pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 6th Apr 2023
Tasted alongside the 2020, this 2021 The Maitre d’ Cabernet Sauvignon smells sweeter, more of blackberry pie than coulis. In the mouth, the wine is thick and plush, with black berries in profusion, rested upon a bed of creamy oak. It finishes with gentle inflections of crushed coffee grounds and dark chocolate. It is satisfying and super dense—that is the style, and it has been done well here. (Erin Larkin)
