Shop Our Selection of Bordeaux Wines

Among all of the fine French wines one could argue that for class, elegance and opulence, that the wines of Bordeaux are king. The only permitted red grape varieties in Bordeaux wine are some of the best known; Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, with Petit Verdot, Malbec and Carménère used only in a minor blending role.

When one considers French white wine, examples in Bordeaux are typically made from Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle. One also cannot forget the sweet gold-colored dessert wines called Sauternes.

  1. Château Talmont Bordeaux

    2020 / 750 ml. | Item#58071

    JS90+90–91 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Thursday, June 2, 2022
A nicely polished and relatively soft red with ripe tannins and purple fruit. It’s medium-bodied. Fresh at the end. Nicely done.
    JD87+87–89 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 6/4/2021
The 2020 Château Talmont is another solid Bordeaux offering medium to full-bodied richness as well as impressive cassis and black raspberry fruits intermixed with hints of flowers, violets, and graphite. It has some grippy tannins, but I like the overall balance as well as the length on the finish. (Jeb Dunnuck)
    VN86+86–88 pts. - Vinous - Jun 2021
The 2020 Talmont offers good up-front intensity in its jammy dark fruit, chocolate and dried herbs. There is good depth and persistence, but hard tannins and slight vegetal undertones are a bit distracting today. (Antonio Galloni)

    Cru Bourgeois Supérieur
    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#57592

    VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2022
The 2019 Noaillac retains the superb bouquet from barrel, featuring blackberry and bilberry fruit, ripe and generous, while maintaining fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins. Classic in style, and a little fleshier than before, with black pepper and cedar on the finish. An excellent Noaillac. (Neal Martin)
    JS9191 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Sunday, February 20, 2022
Sweet berries and plums with some rose-petal and stem undertones. Full-bodied with round tannins and delicious fruit, with a light vanilla undertone at the end. Drink after 2023.

  3. Château Fonbadet

    2018 / 750 ml. | Item#53185

    VN92+92–94 pts. - Vinous - Nov 2019
The 2018 Fonbadet has a refined, detailed bouquet of cedar and mint-tinged black fruit that gains intensity in the glass. The oak is judiciously used, both here and on the palate, which is harmonious and silky-smooth in texture, disguising the depth and intensity of this Pauillac. Easily the finest Fonbadet I have tasted, it is a classy wine with big ambitions, and the best wine that I have encountered from this estate. Chapeau!
    JD91+91–93 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - May 1, 2019
I loved the 2018 Château Fonbadet, a Cabernet Sauvignon-dominated blend (there’s 25% Merlot) that’s aging in 50% new French oak. Classic Pauillac notes of cassis, lead pencil, graphite, cold fireplace, and ample earthy minerality all flow to a medium to full-bodied, elegant wine that stays tight, focused, and structured on the palate. It’s going to need 4–5 years of bottle age, but it’s a beauty. (Jeb Dunnuck)

  4. Clos du Roy Fronsac

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#57591

    VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2022
The 2019 Clos du Roy has an intense bouquet of marine-tinged black fruit, though I get the feeling that it’s already beginning to close down. The palate is medium-bodied and concentrated, with firm tannins, plenty of black fruit and impressive structure on the finish. Very fine, but give it a couple of years in bottle.

  5. Château Carbonnieux Pessac-Léognan

    Grand Cru Classé de Graves
    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#59610

    VN9494 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2022
I am so pleased that the 2019 Carbonnieux has retained the engaging aromatics that I found from the barrel sample: copious blackberry, raspberry, incense and light violet aromas soar from the glass. The palate is very well balanced with fine-grained tannins, and much more precise than recent vintages, leading to a harmonious, silky-smooth, almost tender finish. More polished than recent vintages, this Carbonnieux comes highly recommended. (Neal Martin)
    JD9494 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 4/11/2022
The 2019 Château Carbonnieux sports a deep purple/ruby hue to go with a brilliant nose of red and black currants, spring flowers, spicy oak, and hints of tobacco. It’s beautiful on the palate as well and is medium to full-bodied, has a seamless, elegant texture, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It’s the finest wine I’ve tasted from this estate. The blend is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and the balance Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, all brought up in 40% new barrels. It’s well worth tracking down some bottles and will keep for two decades. (Jeb Dunnuck)

  6. Château La Tour de Mons Margaux

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#57903

    VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2022
The 2019 La Tour de Mons spans two terms of ownership. It was sold in February 2020 to the Perroudot family (owners of Labégorce and Marquis d’Alesme), so the current team finished the aging. The 2019 has an expressive bouquet of lively blackberry and raspberry fruit, some attractive orange pith scents coming through with time. The palate is well balanced with fleshy ripe red fruit, white pepper and graphite. Nicely balanced and gentle, leading to a precise, quite Pauillac-like finish. Lovely.
    JD9090 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 4/11/2022
The 2019 Château La Tour De Mons is solid, with medium-bodied aromas and flavors of savory red fruits, leather, dried herbs, and chalky minerality. Balanced, with building tannins and outstanding length, it’s going to drink well for 15 years. (Jeb Dunnuck)

  7. Château Pape Clément

    Grand Cru Classé de Graves
    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#59207

    JD9898 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 4/11/2022
As to the Grand Vin 2019 Château Pape Clement, it reveals a dense purple hue to go with stunning aromatics of crème de cassis, graphite, lead pencils shavings, scorched earth, and tobacco. Beautifully balanced, with flawless tannins, this full-bodied Pessac has that rare mix of elegance and power, a great mid-palate, and again, perfect balance. It’s one of the gems of the vintage and has some accessibility today given its purity and balance, yet deserves 4–5 years of bottle age and will cruise for 20–25 years or more in cold cellars. The blend is equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, brought up in two-thirds new French oak. (Jeb Dunnuck)
    VN9797 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2022
The 2019 Pape Clément is just as impressive as it was en primeur. It shows all of the textural richness that is so typical of Bernard Magrez’s wines, but with an extra kick of freshness that provides energy as well as a sense of proportion. A wine of stature, the 2019 is so classy. Succulent black cherry, plum, mocha, new leather and licorice are all beautifully delineated. But more than anything else, I find the wine’s energy really impressive. This is a fabulous vintage for Pape Clément. Tasted two times. (Antonio Galloni)

  8. Château Barde-Haut Saint-Émilion Grand Cru

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#60243

    VN9595 pts. - Vinous - Jun 2022
The 2019 Barde-Haut is beautifully defined on the nose, very pure with precise blackberry, briary, violets and iris flower, harmonious. The palate is medium-bodied with finely chiseled tannins, cohesive and mineral-driven; the terroir is very expressive towards the finish that lingers in the mouth. Wonderful, assured and with great potential. Tasted at the Barde-Haut vertical at the château. (Neal Martin)
    JD9494 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 4/11/2022
This beautiful estate is located on the eastern side of the appellation, and they consistently turn out brilliant wines. The 2019 Château Barde-Haut reveals a deep purple hue to go with classic limestone-influenced aromas and flavors of ripe black cherries, chalky minerality, chocolate, and white truffle. More medium to full-bodied and elegant than overtly powerful, its balance is spot on, it has beautiful tannins, and a great finish. It shows the vintage style perfectly and will benefit from 4–5 years of bottle age, and cruise for over two decades in cold cellars. (Jeb Dunnuck)

  9. Château Fombrauge

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#58162

    JD94+94+ pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 4/11/2022
The 2019 Château Fombrauge is terrific and has a good mix of richness, concentration, and elegance. Giving up notes of mulled ripe cherries, Asian spices, blackberries, tobacco, and cedar pencil on the nose, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a seamless, layered, pure mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and just beautiful overall balance. It’s already drinking beautifully today yet will evolve positively for 5–7 years and hold for another 15–20 years. It’s another brilliant Saint-Emilion in the vintage. This seemed more modern and polished from barrel but shows a very classic style now from bottle. (Jeb Dunnuck)
    VN9494 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2022
The 2019 Fombrauge is one of the best wines I have tasted from this property in some time. It shows all the richness that is typical of Bernard Magrez’s style but with less heaviness and a good deal of aromatic presence that helps balance things out. Sweet dark cherry, chocolate, leather, licorice and mocha build into the resonant, super-expressive finish. The 2019 is a classy Fombrauge. (Antonio Galloni)

  10. Château Labégorce Margaux

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#58931

    VN9494 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2022
The 2019 Labégorce was the first vintage vinified in the new cellar and also the first to use Cabernet Franc from the north part of the appellation, on more limestone soils, a massal selection from an organic producer in the south of France. Matured in 40% new oak, this has a voluminous, multifaceted bouquet, a mixture of red and black fruit, cedar and perhaps more rose petal than violet at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, very well balanced, and a little spicier than I found from barrel, leading to a detailed, tensile finish. (Neal Martin)
    JD9494 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 4/11/2022
Gorgeous notes of red, blue, and black fruits as well as sandalwood, tobacco leaf, chocolate, and spicy notes emerge from the 2019 Château Labégorce, one of the richer, more opulent, and straight-up sexy wines in the vintage. A blend of 46% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot, all raised in 40% new oak, it’s medium to full-bodied, has beautifully integrated oak, a stacked mid-palate, and one heck of a great finish. Drink this rich, sensationally textured Margaux any time over the coming two decades. It’s unquestionably in the same league as the 2015, 2016, and 2018. (Jeb Dunnuck)

  11. Château Bel-Air Pomerol

    2019 / 750 ml. | Item#58106

    JS9393 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Sunday, February 20, 2022
Beautiful and complex aromas of orange peel, fruit tea, hazelnuts and berries follow through to a medium body with ultra-fine tannins and polished, refined tannins. Finesse with focus. Try after 2025.
    VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Feb 2022
The 2019 Bel-Air has come together nicely. It’s racy personality is on display, but élevage seems to have tamed some of the overt intensity that was present in the early going. Inky dark fruit, new leather, kirsch and sweet spice infuse the 2019 with quite a bit of character. This ripe, forward Pomerol will drink well right out of the gate. (Antonio Galloni)

    VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Mar 2021
The 2018 Deyrem Valentin is very perfumed on the nose, offering blackberry, blueberry, touches of violet petal and light incense aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a fine bead of acidity, a silky-smooth texture and a vibrant, minerally finish that lingers. This is a gorgeous, finely tuned and precise Margaux that is going to give 20 years of drinking pleasure.

    VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2023
The 2019 Deyrem Valentin has a lovely nose with crushed wild strawberry, raspberry and light rose petal scents. The Cabernet is expressive here. The palate is medium-bodied with white pepper-tinged red fruit, good grip and a lovely graphite note towards the finish that feels fleshy and generous. You could almost broach this now, but I’d prefer to afford it another 12 months in bottle. (Neal Martin)
    JD9090 pts. - Jeb Dunnuck - 4/11/2022
Well worth checking out, the 2019 Château Deyrem Valentin shows the lively, elegant style of the vintage. Giving up complex red and black fruits, lots of floral, sappy, cedary herb-like notes, soft tannins, and a good finish, it’s a pleasure-bent effort to drink over the coming decade. (Jeb Dunnuck)

    VN9393 pts. - Vinous - Mar 2021
The 2018 La Gurgue is one of the little jewels of Margaux. Pliant, supple and inviting, the 2018 has so much to offer. All the elements are wonderfully fused together. Ripe red cherry, blood orange, mint and sweet floral notes all build as this racy Margaux shows off its sensuality and charm. Mildew was especially severe, and yields were just 12 hectoliters per hectare, but the wine is superb. The blend is 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 8% Petit Verdot. (Antonio Galloni)

The 2019 Montviel is a charming, easygoing Pomerol to drink now and over the next 10–15 years. Supple, silky tannins wrap around a core of plush dark red fruit, with hints of cedar, tobacco, mint and leather that add nuance. This is nicely done. (Antonio Galloni)

The 2019 Château Montviel is beautiful, with a pure, precise, incredibly elegant style as well as medium-bodied aromas and flavors of black and blue fruits, damp earth, and spring flowers.
