SP9090 pts. - Wine Spectator - Apr 30, 2007 A delicate, well-balanced Prosecco, showing a good blend of baked apple, sour lemon and grapefruit, with a lightly creamy mineral texture on the palate. Medium froth, with some body and a pleasant lemon and mineral finish. Drink now.BD8989 pts. - Beverage Dynamics - May/Jun 2011 Fresh citrus with hints of honey and white flowers on the nose; soft, light and delicate; delicious.WS8888 pts. - Wine & Spirits - August 1, 2013 Scents of dried grasses and sweet apples carry through this Prosecco. It lasts on nutty flavors, pleasantly balanced for sipping on the beach.WE8787 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 8/1/2012 Widely available, this easy Prosecco offers fresh aromas of citrus, stone fruit and honey. It’s elegantly packaged with a light blue label that would look gorgeous at a lunchtime table set by the pool.
VN9191 pts. - Vinous - Jan 2022 The 2020 Rosso di Montalcino wafts up with dusty rose, strawberries and hints of black tea. It’s soft in feel, with a twang of tangerine that gives way to tart cherries and inner cinnamon and clove. This remains nicely energetic while coming across as potent, and it lingers incredibly long. Caparzo found an excellent balance in 2020, and I love the exotic nuances found within. Very nice. (Eric Guido)
WE9191 pts. - Wine Enthusiast - 5/1/2022 Made with organically farmed grapes—90% Sangiovese, 5% Canaiolo and 5% Colorino—this opens with aromas of black-skinned berry, underbrush and leather. The fragrant, balanced palate offers black cherry, clove and licorice alongside firm, polished tannins. Drink 2023–2030. (Kerin O’Keefe)JS9191 pts. - JamesSuckling.com - Thursday, November 4, 2021 A well-defined and typical Chianti Rufina with aromas and flavors of berries and cherries, as well as darker, savory notes of bark and dried herbs. Medium body and grainy tannins that have a dusty-oak coating that absorbs the fruit flavors nicely and gives a long, firm and a slightly bitter, licoricy finish. From organically grown grapes. Drinkable now, but will be better integrated in 2023.Premier SelectPremier Select wines are handpicked by our staff from amongst thousands of wines for their exceptional quality. WS9191 pts. - Wine & Spirits - 12/22 With its bright magenta color, bountiful dark berry flavors and zippy acidity, this wine is bouncy and joyful from start to finish. It offers good concentration and verve while avoiding the excessive alcohol that sometimes marks this variety, making it an excellent partner for a wide range of dishes.VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Dec 2022 The 2021 Barbera d’Alba is an explosion of blue/purplish fruit, lavender, spice and mocha. A healthy dollop of whole clusters (30%) adds an element of savoriness that takes a little getting used to, as it is not often seen in Barbera. Vinification and aging in cement yields a juicy Barbera in which the fruit is front and center. (Antonio Galloni)
VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Oct 2022 The 2019 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Riserva is dark and moody in the glass, opening slow with a smoldering mix of red currants, grilled herbs and flowery underbrush. It’s texturally deep and pliant, showcasing polished ripe red and hints of blue fruit that are carried effortlessly across a core of juicy acidity. The 2019 tapers off with a subtle tug of fine tannin and sweet raspberry tones that leave a lasting impression. (Eric Guido)
VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Dec 2022 The 2021 Roero Arneis is done in a fairly rich style for Arneis. Lemon confit, white flowers, tangerine peel, mint and light tropical overtones all grace this open-knit, inviting Arneis from Malvirà. This is very nicely done. (Antonio Galloni)
RP91+91+ pts. - Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate - 14th May 2020 The youthful, flashy exuberance of this wine is impossible to miss. The Tua Rita 2019 Rosso dei Notri offers pronounced primary fruit that bursts out of the glass with immediate directness and frankness. This is a blend of 30% Sangiovese, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Syrah and 20% Merlot. Although it’s not declared, there’s a tiny touch of Cabernet Franc in there as well that grounds the wine with an extra point of darkness and richness. Most of the blending components do not see oak, but those that do (like the Merlot) go through a brief three months in declassified barrique (hand-downs from Tua Rita’s top wines). This estate practices a clever pre-harvest harvest. Some of the fruit from across the various parcels is harvested about 10 days earlier. That fruit, with its extra freshness and acidic brightness, goes into this wine. Indeed, some 150,000 bottles are produced, so this is the bread-and-butter bottle from the estate. The best clusters are left on the vines to mature fully before the second harvest, and that fruit goes into Tua Rita’s benchmarks. Doing two harvests in this manner preserves the character of the best fruit on the one hand and creates this entry-level offering on the other. This easy red is a great match to a platter of Italian salumi and cheeses. This wine will be released in June 2020, and it offers terrific value.
WS9090 pts. - Wine & Spirits - December 31, 2010 This spicy moscato tastes fresh and cool. It feels full and rich, but not sugary — the fruit is what lasts, with hints of nectarine and kumquat. Delicious chilled on its own or with hazelnut biscotti.
SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - Sep 30, 2022 This supple red shows a core of cherry and plum fruit allied to olive, juniper and tobacco notes. Delivers well-integrated tannins and acidic structure, lingering nicely on the finish. Sangiovese, Colorino and Pugnitello. Drink now through 2030. 29,000 cases made, 9,745 cases imported. (Bruce Sanderson)
VN9393 pts. - Vinous - Sep 2021 The 2019 Chianti is fabulous. Bright, punchy and full of Sangiovese character, Mori’s Chianti pulses with energy from start to finish. Lively acids perk up a core of crushed red berry and floral flavors. The 2019 is one of the very finest editions I can remember tasting. Don’t miss it.
VN9292 pts. - Vinous - Jul 2022 The 2020 Chianti Classico RS Cultusboni is a dense, powerful wine. Black cherry, cloves, scorched earth and licorice show the darker side of Sangiovese. There’s good depth, even if at times the 2020 feels a bit heavy and monolithic. (Antonio Galloni)
SP9292 pts. - Wine Spectator - Nov 15, 2022 Lightly toasty on the nose, less so on the palate, with a pure beam of raspberry coulis fruit flavors layered with a minerally underpinning of smoke and graphite, plus rich notes of fig cake, wild sage, ground coffee and red licorice. A fresh, classy version, with lightly chalky tannins emerging to firm the finish. Nero d’Avola and Frappato. Drink now through 2027. 6,650 cases made, 1,415 cases imported. (Alison Napjus)WS9191 pts. - Wine & Spirits - 06/22 Notes of dried thyme and white pepper weave through this wine’s juicy cherry and strawberry flavors, then the wine finishes with a bright spray of orange zest. It’s a lively, midweight wine, versatile for a range of lighter fare.VN9090 pts. - Vinous - Jun 2022 The 2020 Cerasuolo di Vittoria is dark and smoky, with black currants and crushed blueberries offset by a hint of animal musk. This is a soft and pure yet energetic expression, with a mix of tart wild berries and sour citrus tones adding tension. It tapers off long and floral, with a pleasant inner sweetness complicated by a staining of salty minerals. This is so incredibly fresh. The 2020 Cerasuolo di Vittoria is a blend of 60% Nero d’Avola and 40% Frappato. (Eric Guido)
